Does anybody else feel like crap due to the heat?

I'm a very pale person and don't bode well when it's this hot. I'm in London where we've had absolutely roasting, humid weather.

My flat becomes sauna-like and no amount of having the fan on or opening window's makes a difference.

For days I've felt completely drained, weak and nauseous.

I'm not moaning, I'm glad people take joy from the sun, I'm just wondering if anybody else finds they've been feeling very bleugh too?

Plus my hair is a frizzy mess too ! Too humid

SerenityNowwwww · 11/08/2020 15:42

Nah - my hair is a sweaty mess.

QuestionableMouse · 11/08/2020 16:13

23°c here right now and I'm roasting. Hoping it's cooler tomorrow because I'm looking after my nephews and can't face going to the village play park (which is South facing) which is what they'll want to do.

MellowMelly · 11/08/2020 16:14

Another struggler here too! The heat gives me heart palpitations which in turn make me dizzy. I’m drinking water with ORS tablets in like a pp said.

My thing is to place two cold damp flannels on both inner wrists (apparently helps to cool the blood travelling through the radial arteries).

The game changer the other day was when my dear father produced a bottle of water in a spray bottle from his fridge and basically misted me down. Instant cooling effect so I went straight to Superdrug and got one too!

A larger version of the mister is to have a cool shower (or bath) when it’s too much. Then don’t fully dry off. Then be close to a fan for a bit.

23°c here right now and I'm roasting.

It's just as well you aren't where I live. 34 degrees outside at the moment. I had to turn the aircon on in the car.

SerenityNowwwww · 11/08/2020 16:59

It’s 34 here too. Sticky, yukky, cloggy heat. No breeze. BBC weather app says it ‘feels like 39’ 🥵🥵🥵

DH is off for his run. He is not human for gods sake!

ohtheholidays · 11/08/2020 17:06

I used to love it but I'm disabled now and ill and it's honestly become so difficult for me to spend very much time in it at all.

We went to the beach on Sunday and my body's reaction to the heat seriously scared me,my DH and our 2DD's,I nearly passed out and scared my whole poor family because they thought I was going to end up in sodding hospital because of the sun of all things,I think that may sadly have been the last time I'll ever see the sea again.

Defenbaker · 11/08/2020 17:13

Yes, the high temperatures and humidity, day and night, have gone on for too long now, I hope the weather breaks soon.

I like the sun but once the temps go into the upper 20s and 30s it's too much of a good thing, IMO.

I had some errands to run today, involving bank, post office and 1 shop. Each time I put my mask on my face was instantly drenched in sweat. I totally understand the reason for masks in shops etc, but the heat makes it a real endurance test, so I'm not going anywhere else until the weather breaks.

My top tip is to sit with feet in a bowl of cold water - bliss after walking in sun! Smile

I'm just off for a two hour session at the gym. No aircon, just an open door.

SerenityNowwwww · 11/08/2020 17:18

At least you aren’t out in the sun... barking the two of you!

PhoneLock · 11/08/2020 17:25

At least you aren’t out in the sun

I've been out in the sun all afternoon. I need a break!

SerenityNowwwww · 11/08/2020 17:27

Bleugh... it’s toooooo hooooooot. Me no likeit!

CheetasOnFajitas · 11/08/2020 17:30

Yes. I am trying to work and can’t focus at all, sitting right next to the fan and hardly making any difference. I felt my brain cells come back to life when I went to the supermarket to pick up some lunch.

I really miss my air-conditioned office.

Swelteringmeltering · 11/08/2020 17:30

I can't spend any time in this. I'm slowly doing jobs then lying down by a fan!
Who can do anything in this, especially running!

SerenityNowwwww · 11/08/2020 17:33

Everyone in twitter seems to be complaining that their stains are too chilly!

CheetasOnFajitas · 11/08/2020 17:34

@SerenityNowwwww

Can you imagine living in this heat all the time - working, commuting... 🥵
A lot of places where it is this hot are set up for it though, homes, buses and trains have aircon and there are shades or underground links between buildings. I lived in Hong Kong for many years and never felt uncomfortable in the summer months.
SerenityNowwwww · 11/08/2020 17:37

But I’d still need to go outside! I visit family in a pet of the states that gets stinking hot (actually 3 lots of family scattered and it gets stinking hot) and they are all complaining about the heat! It’s fine in your home or car or office/stores, and I guess they don’t really walk a huge amount there but a relative is a firefighter and I don’t know how she clumps about in her uniform (let alone her firefighting gear).

AlwaysDancing1234 · 11/08/2020 17:40

Anything over 25 degrees and I can’t cope. I’m well hydrated and try to stay cool in 101 ways but makes little difference unfortunately 🥵
My head feels like it’s being squeezed, having palpitations and I’m a hot sweaty mess. 4 hours sleep total over the last 2 days has not bloody helped either!

SerenityNowwwww · 11/08/2020 17:40

Actually she did pass out when she was in an honour guard at a funeral (so full dress uniform, firing a rifle) and was so desperate not to keep over. She was held upright by her crew...

What would you be going outside for?

Just go when it's cooler? No need to write the whole beach off due to one hot day...
SerenityNowwwww · 11/08/2020 17:46

Ummm - going to work, shops, walk the dog (because I’d have one), take kids out to play, mow the lawn, have a sit in the garden, have a picnic.... usual stuff. Why would I live somewhere just to stay inside all the time! I don’t mind bad weather, quite like the rain - I can sling on boots and a raincoat and go about my day...

QuestionableMouse · 11/08/2020 17:46

I'd cry. Honestly cry.

To be fair it's lovely and cool in my house but I've had stuff to do outside and the sun was blazing.

SerenityNowwwww · 11/08/2020 17:46

(NB I wear other clothes too)
