Your child asks you to lay with them...

They are 4.5 years old. Usually self soothe to sleep but ask you to lay with them.

Do you be Mum A who insists they sleep on their own. Child gets upset and you feel like a massive shit for trying to stick to the "rules" that "they" set dow about self settling.

Or

Be Mum B which thinks "fuck what "they" think" and lays with your child with their bedtime music on, soothing them and letting them fall asleep cuddling you?

I was always Mum B, it never caused problems or an expectation that it would always happen. If they needed an extra cuddle for whatever reason, they got it. Still do. Although now it’s not in bed!

Mum B.

They'll grow out of it before they're 28

B, if they need me they need me.

B. Every time.

Mum b. Every time.

BooseysMom · 30/05/2019 19:44

Mum B from birth to now (5yo). I've only got one and no chance of another so I'm making the most of him wanting me there (much to my DH's family's disgust!!)

twirlypoo · 30/05/2019 19:45

Mum B..... but I wish I was mum A sometimes when I just want to go downstairs and watch tv instead!

Number3or4 · 30/05/2019 19:45

I'm a mum B, a lot of the time I would wish I was mum A

Teddyreddy · 30/05/2019 19:45

Mum B but then I cuddle my 4.5 year old to sleep every night - it only takes 15 minutes or so and it means a lot to him. It's also my chance to lie down and get a quiet break before tackling the tidying up....

Bicnod · 30/05/2019 19:45

Mum B. My 7 year old DS still asks me to cuddle him until he falls asleep about once a month - I love it.

I was mum B with my 23 year old dd recently when she was having a crap time.

BlackeyedGruesome · 30/05/2019 19:47

Depends. Mostly B but sometimes A has been required for sanity's sake. They are older though.

Did let Ds co sleep for ages as he slept better than on his own. Night terrors every night left him clinging on top of me and very little sleep which was worse than co sleeping and slightly disturbed sleep.

ohfourfoxache · 30/05/2019 19:48

Actually dh and I usually cuddle DS1 (4) and ds2 (2) to sleep together then transfer them to their own beds - thank god we’ve got a big bed Blush

Daisy03 · 30/05/2019 19:50

Mum B, every night with my 8 year old

Surfskatefamily · 30/05/2019 19:50

Mum B ..i love a cuddle with my baby

Tunt · 30/05/2019 19:51

B as a one off

A if it becomes a habit

TreadingThePrimrosePath · 30/05/2019 19:52

Exactly, Bertrand. Sometimes you need a cuddle from your mum.

pinkyshirt · 30/05/2019 19:53

Mum b

Absoluteunit · 30/05/2019 19:53

Same as Tunt. B because it hardly ever happens (no smugness, only through luck) but would have to revert to A if it happened a lot.

NerrSnerr · 30/05/2019 19:53

Mum B.

4.5 is still tiny. They won't be asking you to lay with them when they're 13.

lovefood123 · 30/05/2019 19:53

B ALL THE WAY ❤️
