It’s cold here, I want that lovely hot weather back.

OH's home from work. It's dull and rainy outside. We've had dinner, the heating's on, the candles are lit and we're going to snuggle up on the sofa and watch a film. I've thoroughly enjoyed this summer, but I do love a cosy night in when the weather starts to turn. 🕯️🌧️

Jolonglegs · 26/08/2018 18:43

No central heating yet, but the wood burner is on.

DownstairsMixUp · 26/08/2018 18:48

Got the duvet out on sofa, can't bring myself to go into the wood supply yet for the burner

Coconutcake0 · 26/08/2018 18:50

No heating but just lit the fire!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 26/08/2018 18:51

Believe me, it's crossed my mind !
Cosy slippers are on, fit flops, back in the wardrobe.

JacNaylor · 26/08/2018 18:56

I haven't but I've seriously considered it. So glad I'm not the only one!! My toes are cold Sad

bastardkitty · 26/08/2018 18:59

Had it on this morning for 2 hours. Yep.

WhatAmISupposedToBeDoing · 26/08/2018 19:01

My thermostat is in a tiny microclimate in my living room, tucked against the kitchen wall, by the bookcase and behind the door. It always believes the room is 20+ degrees, even when it was -5 and lower last winter. So when I turn the heating 'on' I manually set it to a higher desired temperature, but I can switch it so it only runs for an hour or whatever even if it doesn't reach that temperature.

I am sure life was easier before DH installed smart versions of everything in the house.

TheConquestOfHappiness · 26/08/2018 19:02

We lit a fire earlier.

PlatypusPie · 26/08/2018 19:05

My DH went over to the thermostat ‘ just to check ‘ , though we both agreed putting on the heating in August would be just a step too far ! 18C in the house and 16C outside. Yesterday we were sitting in the sun outside a cafe ( East London) and had to move because it was too hot at 10.30 am. DD coming home tomorrow after a week away - told her it will feel like she has left in one season and come back to another ( maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned the very autumnal spider influx......)

Madein1995 · 26/08/2018 19:05

Yep. Heating isn't month dependent, it's when we need it. So it was cold this weekend so we had the heating on for a bit. If we're cold, we put the heating on.

My friend (also lives with her parents) is banned from putting the heating on til October! Silly, especially as they're all working good jobs and could afford it

Thishatisnotmine · 26/08/2018 19:06

Its's been clickingbon at 19 the last couple of days for about an hour in the morni g. But dd2s room is cold, like poltergeist cold. Think the roof needs looking at at the guttering is leaking down the wall and have to mention it to the landlord again.
Its been on at 19 a lot of today as my "hmm, feeling peaky" has turned into terrible d&v. All thw socks and jumpers are not getting me warm.

Sallystyle · 26/08/2018 19:18

Not yet. I do have thick PJs on though and covered in blankets.

I am unwell so thought I was cold because of that, but my son has just come down asking to put the heating on. I have no doubt it will be turned on in the next few days.

My rescue dog from Cyprus is freezing, had to order him some dog pjs and bury him under blankets.

ToothTrauma · 26/08/2018 19:19

I’d love to have my log burner on but it won’t be cold enough (for us) until it drops at least to the very low teens. I’ve got a blanket tho :)

Sallystyle · 26/08/2018 19:20

My Hive says it is 21.8 in here. Feels much cooler though.

cptartapp · 26/08/2018 19:22

Came back from Portugal 2 days ago where it was nudging 30C so really feeling it. Just had a hot bath to warm up, refuse to put the heating on yet.

museumum · 26/08/2018 19:24

Ours is set to 18 and came on for the first time today Sad

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 26/08/2018 19:31

Current temperature on my garden thermometer is 17.1 degrees, coldest room in house is conservatory and that is 18.5 degrees, heating thermostat is currently in our bedroom and is showing 19 degrees dead on with window a little bit open. No thermometer in living room but I am comfortable in a t shirt and jeans at the moment. Living room is always warmer than bedroom so I reckon it’s at leas 20 degrees.

JurassicGirl · 26/08/2018 19:35

Haven't put heating on but have used the electric blanket/hot water bottles for the last few nights.

Brrr!

jmh740 · 26/08/2018 19:38

A couple of times this week for an hour or so but mainly to help dry the washing

RoseMartha · 26/08/2018 19:44

No but am wearing jeans and have hoodie on. Been wearing skirts up until today. And last night i put a cardigan on in bed over nightie.

almondsareforevermore · 26/08/2018 19:48

My gas and electricity account is £3 in credit after four months without the heating on. I shan’t be turning it on this side of Christmas even though I’m cold already.

ChipInTheSugar · 26/08/2018 19:53

Yes - and it's not working!! ConfusedSad

BubblesBubblesBubbles · 26/08/2018 19:53

It’s bloody cold, wet and windy here - but no heating on (tempted to check it out before autumn properly hits Grin)

Just snuggled up on the sofa with jumpers, warm comfy clothes and blankets.

TheMarrowOfTime · 26/08/2018 19:53

It's 18C here. My house seems to be incredibly well insulated and holds heat somehow, which is not a good thing in a heatwave but it is when the weather starts to turn like it is now, so no heating for us yet. I'm still in a t shirt and we've had the ceiling fans on low, intermittently. I have put the quilt back on the bed though.
