It’s cold here, I want that lovely hot weather back.

Yep. And we've built a blanket nest.

HolyMountain · 26/08/2018 16:44

Ours has been coming on of its own accord. Been down to single figures outside, at night.

Justmuddlingalong · 26/08/2018 16:47

Perhaps those of us who're cold should put

Strongarmy · 26/08/2018 17:01

Yes. Had it on since morning. I've changed into the autumn duvet as well. Freezing here in Sussex today.

theboxofdelights · 26/08/2018 17:06

Ours has been on in the ‘1 hour’ button a few times in the last week. It was seven degrees here last night.

I am going to switch it on properly tonight and set the thermostat at 18.

Seafoodeatit · 26/08/2018 17:09

Not yet, our house retains heat very well though so it's not gone under 18 degrees yet afaik, if we were at our old house we might have as it was a very draughty old house.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 26/08/2018 17:17

you know not everyone's heating system is the same?

Yes but I’ve never known a centrally heated house where the heating can only be “on” or “off”. Everyone I know, every place I’ve lived and holiday homes I’ve rented are all thermostatically controlled.

I know I can turn the heating off but I don’t need to as it simply won’t come on unless the temperature drops below the temperature I’ve set (18.5 degrees for us).

I’ve known people who, despite having a system with thermostatic control, always turn the heating off March and on again on October no matter whether the house is cold or not. It could be snowing but if it is April then the heating cannot be used! Just seems strange to me.

PasteSandwiches · 26/08/2018 17:23

I'm resisting it here, put on full length pyjamas and my big, fluffy, hooded dressing gown!!! Have switched to red wine rather than white though - winter is coming!!

proudwoman92 · 26/08/2018 17:23

Yep

Never turn it off
Our house turns the heating on any time it drops below 22 c inside

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 26/08/2018 17:30

Dh bought me an electric throw for my birthday and I'm sat on the sofa all toasty.
I'm planning to not use the fire or heating unless it gets bitterly cold and just use the blanket to hopefully save some cash.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 26/08/2018 17:37

DD keeps nagging me too but I refuse on August BH weekend!

kaytee87 · 26/08/2018 17:46

Really? Up until November mine was either 'off' or 'on'

CatchEmAll · 26/08/2018 17:50

Mines an "on" or "off" type heating system. It's old though and shit.

ginandnappies · 26/08/2018 17:51

We have for the past few days. Been reaching about 5 at nights and the house is chilly in the mornings! I'm so ready for the colder weather so I'm pretty happy about this.

HappyEverIftar · 26/08/2018 17:52

Yep. Where we are in the Brecon Beacons, it was 9.5c yesterday, so the heating has been on since then.

I don't even care! Hate being cold.

LexieLulu · 26/08/2018 17:53

I debated it, but instead I'm wearing a cardigan that makes me look like a fat sheep.

I can't believe a few weeks ago I was complaining it was too hot to sleep

HolyMountain · 26/08/2018 17:54

Bugger my Dh is a Plumber , he always turns it off when the warmer weather kicks in earlier in the year.

Charley50 · 26/08/2018 17:54

I might put me electric blanket on tonight!

wowfudge · 26/08/2018 18:11

DP trained ours on earlier then fell asleep. I turned it off. Doesn't feel cold to me, but it did feel too warm with the heating on!

purpleme12 · 26/08/2018 18:30

Our one in our old house didn't have a thermostat so we just either had to have it in or off

purpleme12 · 26/08/2018 18:32

On this one we have to either switch it on our off (or set it to come on once or twice a day) but then it does have a thermostat

safariboot · 26/08/2018 18:33

No, but I was tempted when I had a bath late last night. The bathroom always gets cold in my house.

I still prefer it to the sweatbox heat we had earlier this summer.

H00T3R · 26/08/2018 18:33

No. No idea what the temperature is but although it's a bit cool it's nowhere near cold enough to even think about putting the heating on. Fleecy blankets, thicker socks, warmer jumpers, more filling food and hot drinks all help keep you warm at the same time as not sending your heating bill through the roof.

Spongeface · 26/08/2018 18:38

Just have! Three blankets and a hottie wasn't cutting it!
