It’s cold here, I want that lovely hot weather back.

No but I’m wearing socks for the first time since May Sad

TheFutureMrsB · 26/08/2018 13:26

I've had the heating on since 7.30am, it was bloody cold!

ZigZagZebras · 26/08/2018 13:27

Our thermostat is showing as 21 but it feels freezing! Won't put heating on though or it'll feel even colder outside, we probably just need a few days to adjust after it being so hot.

Samb79 · 26/08/2018 13:28

Nope but I’ve just dug out my ugg slippers!

Licketysplits · 26/08/2018 13:29

Put it on cos I was freezing an hour later had to turn it off as it was boiling. house is a nice temperature now though it's taken the chilly edge off

RomanyRoots · 26/08/2018 13:29

It's cold here too, NW and we have put heating on a little just for an hour or so.
Cooking in the kitchen so it's a bit warmer now in here.
The change is so dramatic I think we feel it more than if there was a gradual change.

GinnyWreckin · 26/08/2018 13:32

Heating on two hours yesterday evening, uggs on, and tights.

Got out my cardigans to see the extent of the damage from the moths..... why do they only like my nice ones?!

Jowak1 · 26/08/2018 13:32

Yep just put it on this morning first time since about April! I've also put a jumper on which I never do as I'm always hot

kaytee87 · 26/08/2018 13:34

Yes, it's 11 degrees here and chucking it down plus I had surgery on Friday and only got home yesterday. Still feeling the affects of the GA/drugs.

hugoagogo · 26/08/2018 13:35

BBC app says 12 here too, but inside is still 20, it has baked here since May and the inside temperature was regularly 26 and occasionally as much as 31. I am enjoying 20, it's 'just right'.

keefthebeef · 26/08/2018 13:35

I've got the fire lit!

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 26/08/2018 13:36

I never really understand the “have you put the heating on” questions TBH. My heating is thermostat and timer controlled, if the indoor temperature drops below 18.5 degrees then the heating turns on until the temperature is over 18.5 degrees.

If I tell the system that I am on holiday then it only triggers at 9 degrees.

The system is never “off”.

kaytee87 · 26/08/2018 13:39

@BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou you know not everyone's heating system is the same?

I have a nest too and it's set to 18 degrees but I manually turned it up to 20 earlier to trigger the heating to come on because I felt chilly.

LBOCS2 · 26/08/2018 13:40

My heating and hot water are connected - I can't have the heating on and the hot water off, but I can have the hot water on and the heating off. However, I don't need my HW on for as long as I would heat my house, so I switch the controller to HW only and set the timings for an hour in the morning and two in the evening, to warm up the cylinder. So my heating is actually off in the summer.

No, not put it on yet, but can't say it isn't a bit tempting - it's so grey and horrible. If we had a fire I would definitely be considering lighting it. I'm definitely into another jumper and slippers though!

StillMedusa · 26/08/2018 13:41

Just put it on as the thermostat was saying it's 16 degrees in the house. (Oxfordshire) 13 degrees outside.
Absolutely pouring with rain, and DH is currently stuck on the A40 waiting for breakdown recovery of DS1's car :( (DS1 is playing a gig this afternoon so can't do it)

Spag bol for tea to warm us all up I think!

YouCantBeSirius · 26/08/2018 13:41

Mine is on, 11 degrees here and raining.

hugoagogo · 26/08/2018 13:42

Yeah, mine is like that too bugger but I do adjust it in the summer months, so it doesn't kick in just when I'm feeling grateful for the temperature dropping.

MaisyPops · 26/08/2018 13:42

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou
Ours is one that is 'on' continually technically as the house is always a consistent temperature. Our heating isn't doing anything as apparently the house is 18 degrees (bollocks to that! It feels freezing)

To me though, I still talk about putting the heating on as being actively making the decision to heat the house up. E.g. heating goes up to 21 degrees etx.

I could happily turn the heating on to 24 ish right now but it feels a waste for just me when it isn't actually that cold.

HolyMountain · 26/08/2018 13:44

We can turn the heating off on our boiler in answer to your post,BuggerOffSmile

OP posts:
fleshmarketclose · 26/08/2018 13:44

Mine is on I was cold earlier and I hate being cold in the house.

DinosApple · 26/08/2018 13:46

Ours is temperature controlled and whilst I turn the main thermostat right down in summer, I forgot the kitchen thermostat. I came downstairs to a lovely warm floor Grin.

I'm actually quite liking it! the novelty will wear off soon

DrCoconut · 26/08/2018 13:46

Perishingly cold here and heating on. Want the summer back for at least the summer holiday, I'm not ready to submit to another 10 months of cold and rain ☹️

topcat2014 · 26/08/2018 13:47

Not yet. I have a half marathon in six weeks, so panicking a bit, and went for a run in the pxxxxing rain earlier.

Am also on holiday in dorset, and refusing to accept it is cold, so wearing shorts in the house.

feet are turning a bit blue

LapdanceShoeshine · 26/08/2018 13:49

Hive says temp is 18.2, & in the season it’s normally set to come on at 18.5, but I’m stubbornly resisting & it’s set at 17.5

11 outside though Shock

Anyway. Fleece & socks on instead. It’s AUGUST! I just CAN’T! Grin

missmouse101 · 26/08/2018 13:50

Good grief. A little bit cooler and you put heating on? What on earth is wrong with another layer and cosy slippers? Environmentally responsible and perfectly effective.
