The twaddle continues ......

This is the official campus of the Academy for Advanced Armitage Studies, part of the University of Milton-Northern.

Come and share your learning with us.

Awfully sorry I'm late, Rector, but my computer got its knickers in a twist.
I must say this new building is rather grand. The old one had got a little too redolent of Polish Cordial ,especially after the Wake, last night. And then there was that stew at lunchtime...

noddyholder · 09/11/2010 18:29

who is he?

fizzpops · 09/11/2010 18:50

Hi All, I have been lurking but had to out myself in case no-one had seen the news that RA is currently filming in Manchester

Captain America

Seems like quite old news but I only heard today.

StripeyMoon · 09/11/2010 19:14

Who is he??? Shock

MrsLucasNorth · 09/11/2010 19:47

Thank God for that - though I'd lost you Grin!

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 09/11/2010 20:06

How are you now, MrsLN?

He's filming in Milton Northern Manchester now? How very fitting. I have a sneak preview of his Captain America costume. I wish.

And thread 3 continues!!! How long does the MA in Advanced Armitage Studies last? Indefinitely!!Grin

Can't believe we filled up a thread in less than 10 days, that's more than 100 posts a day!

It is obviously a very easy subject to wax lyrical about!!

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 09/11/2010 20:08

Well twaddle by name, twaddle learned and highbrow intellectual discourse by nature.

OP posts:
Fettle · 09/11/2010 20:09

What is Captain America about? Is it a good role for Mr Thornton RA?!

Can't believe he's been in Manchester and I didnt' realise - feels a bit more easy to track him down bump into him by accident there!!Grin

Anyone fancy a trip to the Trafford Centre tomorrow?Wink

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 09/11/2010 20:13

I think it's a super hero type thing, Fettle. Disppointingly low in cravats, I imagine, but possibly some rippling torso action for people who like that sort of thing.

OP posts:
Fettle · 09/11/2010 20:15

ooh - underpants over tights?! That kind of thing?Hmm

Can't he be a cravat-wearing super-hero???

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 09/11/2010 20:19

Captain America

Fettle! That sounds dangerously close to speedos.

OK - back in the world of Guy Thornton-North...

Later that afternoon, Guy was back at the Savoy, dressed in his tails and cravat and carrying his cello.
As he strode into the lobby, he caught sight of his best friend from university, Rupert Henry-Johnson, similarly attired but a little flushed, and on closer inspection trembling ever so slightly.

?So glad you could make it,? he called, on seeing Guy arrive, ?The wedding just wouldn?t be the same without you.?

?A pleasure,? replied Lucas, ?Where?s it all happening then.?

Rupert directed him to the magnificent room where the ceremony was to take place and indicated where he was to set up, to one side of the registrar?s table next to a window.

Two short hours later, Rupert and his lovely bride, Marion, were man and wife, and Guy took his seat at the front of the room, positioned his cello and began to play as they signed the register and posed for photos of the happy occasion.

Within the assembled audience sat Fleur, a family friend on the bride?s side. A professor of historical literature with a passion for classical music she was enraptured by Guy?s playing, and not unimpressed with the rest of him, she realised to her chagrin, being a little older than the handsome man seated just a few feet away.

As Elgar?s cello concerto in B minor reached its crescendo, Guy met Fleur?s gaze and held it just a little too long. She looked away, heart pounding, skin flushed and realised she was in desperate need of fresh air. As she slipped quietly out of a side door, she was unaware that Guy was watching her every move.

From the lounge, Fleur heard the wedding guests gathering for champagne and canapés. She knew she should go and join them but really didn?t trust herself anywhere near Guy Thornton-North. Then a soft deep voice in her left ear said, ?I saw you leave, are you feeling quite well, madam??

Before she knew it, Guy was seated beside her and calling a waitress to bring them some tea. He poured a cup and passed it to her. As she took the saucer their fingers briefly touched a bolt of electricity shot through Fleur?s body. Guy gently took her hand in his, ?You really do look rather shaken?perhaps you?d allow me to take you upstairs for a lie down??

To be continued....Grin

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 09/11/2010 21:07

Who ... is ... Fleur?

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorth · 09/11/2010 21:16

Fleur - Flowers 'tis you!

Now, being that you are such a genteel lady of delicate disposition, would yoou like me to go on or leave the rest to your imagination?

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 09/11/2010 21:30

Oh MrsLN. I had hardly dared hope, although her name was something of a clue!

I am not averse to being taken upstairs by Guy Thornton-North (especially in the Savoy which has, ahem, Memories for me) but would want us to be left in solitude (presumptuous me) once the cravat comes off. There are some things a lady does not want to share.

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorth · 09/11/2010 21:51

Ok, Flowers. Will give it some thought this evening and post part 2 tomorrow as real life is calling (sadly!)
Have just put Venetia into order on phone so perhaps will find some inspiration there.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 09/11/2010 22:22

Well, it is official then. Guy John-Lucas Thornton-North is a slut
But he's our slut.
That was awesome, Mrs LN, I shivered with vicarious delight for our Petite Fleur, but will not deny her a heavy line of asterisks at her chosen juncture

I am glad we are all safely assembled here. I expect you followed the trail of used tea-bags and empty Polish Cordial bottles

Theresaholeinyourmind · 09/11/2010 22:30

Just to report that RA's character in Captain America is Heinz Kruger
So no underpants over tights combo, it seems.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 09/11/2010 22:33

Sorry to multi-post, but there are a whole lot of photos from the shoot here
which I have just found. Don't forget to scroll down. Nice...

Meow75 · 09/11/2010 22:34

Hello girlies,

Sorry to have been absent recently. Work got in the way of some serious RA admiration!!

Oooooh, Santander ad!!

Anyhow, after taking a quick trip from Lincs to Laaaaahndon yesterday, and thus having to request Spooks to be recorded, I am now ShockShockShockShock at how it turned out.

I think I almost cried.

The Captain America news has buoyed me, somewhat!!! Grin

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 09/11/2010 22:36

Guy T-N is not a slut. It's just taken him a while to meet the right woman, ie someone who appreciates his cravat, ie Me.

I'm glad you're here Theresa. I have just noticed, in the course of, ahem, tidying the Academy's now quite extensive dvd collection (some of it on extended loan from YouTube) that if you keep going with six second Guy, there is another particularly Botticelli moment at 2.28. (.) As if you hadn't noticed.

Now, who's done their assigment and brought in some learned material to discuss at tonight's tutorial?

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 09/11/2010 22:38

Have some Polish Cordial, Meow, We all sobbed into our glasses, last night.

I think the Captain America shoot took place in September according to what I've just read
(summarising for people busier than me)

Theresaholeinyourmind · 09/11/2010 22:52

I seem to be fresh out of learned material. I was just waiting to ask Fettle if she'd carry out an fMRI scan study of our brain activity when watching RA vids. In the light of the recent furore over the remarks of Stephen Fry.

Gad, Carruthers, you have got the Blackpool Illuninations on here..

PS SSG is taking a long time to get going tonight
