The twaddle continues ......

OP posts:
Fettle · 11/11/2010 09:39

What you mean Mr Thornton north actually finds the time to sleep?! And who is actually going to share a bed with for longer than let's say an hour or two?Hmm

Wish I could spend day in basement but must get on!!

By the way as the resident scientist I am pleased to see that proper controlled studies are being conducted! What we do need is a double-blind, placebo controlled study of the different characters and the actor himself to see what it is that "does it for us".

I shall ponder this further while I vacuum!

Bodenbabe · 11/11/2010 09:58

Oh why did I have to go out last night and miss my lovely, lovely chapter?! :) Trying to read it this morning, amidst the usual school run crises was not the best way to do it justice, shall we say (not to mention that I forgot to do DD's lunchbox and had a last-minute panic!) However, I have just re-read it (and again and again and again) and oh my. Just... oh... my. I think I love you, Mrs LN :o Thank you, thank you, a thousand thank yous!!

'Twas v. spooky actually, as I really do have cake-making as one of my things and I have made the odd wedding cake or two, so my chapter had a lovely element of unexpected realism :) The "close your eyes" made me blush and heart-pound like crazy :o

... ...

Fettle · 11/11/2010 10:01

What is red velvet cake by the way? Boden you've just reminded me!Smile

Twas a very good chapter wasn't it!!Grin

Bodenbabe · 11/11/2010 10:33

It's a vanilla flavour sponge with a slight hint of chocolate (not enough to call it a chocolate cake) and it has red food colouring in it so looks pretty

Speaking of beautiful things...

Fettle · 11/11/2010 10:36

Biiiiigggg Siiiiiggggggggghhhhhhhh!!!

Beautiful photo Boden of the cake of course!

Fettle · 11/11/2010 10:39

Sorry - I really should get on with my housework, but how can he say that he's surprised that he has sex appeal when he poses for photographs like that?!Shock

He's not helping us in our endeavours to keep his attraction a purely intellectual level when he throws spanners like that at us! Those eyes!! Have to be enhanced, don't they?!

Can't begin to imagine why the hoovering doesn't seem very appealing at the moment - maybe I'll iron to last Monday's Spooks which I still haven't deleted!!Grin

Bodenbabe · 11/11/2010 10:49

I think you're right Fettle, nothing can naturally be that blue... beautiful pic, isn't it? Agree that you can't do pics like that and then be 'surprised' at the reaction.

Let's raise the tone again. Speaking, as some of the students were, of Botticelli, this has always been one of my favourite paintings. Makes me think a little bit of Guy now... if the hair was black...

Bodenbabe · 11/11/2010 10:50

Right, MUST get some work done now. Signing off, perchance to dream of cake-feeding... :)

StripeyMoon · 11/11/2010 11:18

Love that photo Boden, blue backgrounds definately bring out his eyes in a most appealing way .

Theresaholeinyourmind · 11/11/2010 11:30

Good morning ladies. Oh, I see I have beaten the Rector in today, I wonder how she has been delayed. Trouble at t'mill, perhaps.

And what a way to start the day, to click on Boden's link and have the photo load slowly from the top, hair first and then gradually the eyes I have the idea that was one of his earlier publicity shots and he was told to do it. I don't think he'd do one that overt nowadays.

Re the blue, they look pretty blue on screen too, you don't notice so much in RH cos of all the candle lit rooms up at t'castle, but some shots on Spooks are incredible, especially when he wears a dark blue shirt. And even in N&S.

But enough about that. Is anyone out there? I am in need of urgent help!! ( don't worry, non-life threatening)

Fettle · 11/11/2010 11:38

I'm here Thereas! (as long as you don't tell DH as I should be upstairs cleaning!!)Grin

What's up chuck? As they say in them olden days of yore!

Theresaholeinyourmind · 11/11/2010 11:48

Eee, lass, I'm in a right pickle! Grin
I am trying to stop myself paying out serious money for a 10 CD non abridged audio book of RA reading a novel by Bernard Cornwell.

Added to which it's second-hand and the owner says he doesn't have the original case. Though it is supposed to be in good condition.

Fettle · 11/11/2010 11:48

Sad me not intellectual enuff for ur problim Theresa?[pout and huff]

Fettle · 11/11/2010 11:50

ooooh - I am good enough !! What is the novel about? Will it do his voice justice?

How much is it? Can you afford it easily? Will you listen to it more than 20 times? I think you may miss the original case? What else is missing? I assume the picture of the reader may be on the case, so you will miss that!Hmm

Any help?!
Grin

Fettle · 11/11/2010 11:52

10 CDs!! That's one long reading!! Will you cope with that much reading at once? You'd best be lying down on the chaise longue while fanning oneself!

I still haven't even ordered N&S and Strike Back - think I'll go to do that now!Smile

Fettle · 11/11/2010 11:53

ooh - my lovely DH has already put N&S in our amazon basket to buy!!Grin At least I don't think it was me?Hmm . Think he's realised that he's onto a losing battle and may as well encourage my studies!!Grin

Just have to sneak strike back in there too and he'll never know!! He's read the book, I'm sure, so I'm sure he'll love to see the screenplay!Smile

Fettle · 11/11/2010 11:58

Oh English Literature professors - what's A convenient marriage like by Georgette Heyer? Just been recommended that I buy an audio CD read by a Mr Armitage whoever he may be? Worth it?Smile

Theresaholeinyourmind · 11/11/2010 12:00

Thanks for your thoughts, Fettle, they are helping. It's one of BC's rather macho books about the very early days of English history, Lords of the North Lots of fighting and horseriding and other stirring stuff one imagines. Though we have agreed he could read the telephone book to pretty good effect.
I have seen a photo of the case and if there is a piccie of the reader on it, it will only be a teensy one on the back. So no biggie about the lost box.
I can afford it okay, it's just such a ridiculous price...

Theresaholeinyourmind · 11/11/2010 12:05

Fettle, yuu can learn all about that audio book and the other GH ones, plus get a free sample of them all, if you poke around here

MrsLucasNorth · 11/11/2010 12:06

can you get it from the library?

Fettle · 11/11/2010 12:08

really?! People want to buy this stuff?!

Glad I could help Thereas - could you buy get father christmas to bring it?Smile

Fettle · 11/11/2010 12:09

Thanks for that link Theresa - I'll have a little poke in there later!Grin

Theresaholeinyourmind · 11/11/2010 12:21

Was that to me or Fettle about the library Mrs LN? Good idea for her, no good for me.

Golly wotta lotta stuff on ebay. And I thought the plastic Guy was bad enough. Fridge magnets?

At least the audio book is cheaper thanthis

ASmallBunchofFlowers · 11/11/2010 12:51

Yes, I was delayed by trouble at t'mill but I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition about it. Then again, nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.

Good grief. To Ebay and photos. I assume that all these beefcake come hither photos were in the early days of his telly career and were done at the behest of the production companies (see, I blame them for everything). In fact, I think I saw him wearing that crumpled white shirt in one of the YT clips from Cold Feet.

Lastly for now, I am not the rector. That honour belongs to Cupcakes. I might though be the librarian. Think Philip Larkin in a wig.

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 11/11/2010 13:36

Oh, sorry about that Flowers, I thought cupcakes was the chancellor.
And sorry if I sounded unduly confrontational about your lateness. There are not enough emoticons here to show meaning properly, I just hoped you were delayed by something nice, rather than RL.

In mitigation may I offer you this as template for your modelling project? You might want a peek at ther rest to refresh your memory.
but the head took my particular fancy, and if you combined it with this I think there's a good match.
