My son’s home from school with a fever. He's fine, just laying about.
You ask, I’ll ask, he’ll answer. Together we’ll tackle the big questions of the universe with the wisdom of a 5-year-old who’s been outsmarting me since he could talk. AMA (Ask My Apprentice).

Have you had a different mum and dad before the ones you have now? - asking because my friends 5 yr old started talking about the house in Scotland she used to live in (they’ve never been to Scotland) describing her parents, clothes etc. Weird but fascinating.

Would you have liked to have been born in the olden days of the 1980s or 1990s like some of us 30/40 year olds, or the 2020s like you were. Do you think anything was better back then.

Huh? What does it mean? Tries to explain
My mum said she's 30 so I think so

What's the best way to calm down when you're really angry?

I care.

Well you are both wrong - neither laying or lying works in reply to that question

You need to expand on the description a bit as the favourite thing could be telling lies, or possibly laying a floor. Just increasing the level of pedantry because I am fun like that...

I love your DS replies by the way - seriously cute

Stoptakingmysellotape · 17/09/2025 12:56

Do you like the Poop Song? If you don't know it you should ask mummy to play it.

Newishmom · 17/09/2025 12:57

How has no one asked yet do you like bluey and or paw patrol?

What's the best way to calm down when you're really angry?

So when you're angry you can go calm down and if you're REALLY angry you can breathe like this demonstrates OR or...or...or. have a drink or go to the beach or to the play park but if they'll come with you

It wasn't nice because I don't feel well. It was, wait what was it called again?
Potato and leek
Potato and leek but I'm not hungry anymore

Ah I'm sorry to hear that little dude, although that soup does sound good. Thank you for answering my question - I think you're a brilliant question answerer.

I miss the laugh emoji.

I also correct my children when they make grammatical errors like that.

So do I, sometimes, not always. I learned early on as an educator that over correction is counter productive and can lead to children not wanting to speak out using new words or word combinations in case they are corrected yet again.

However, correcting your own children's grammar is a matter for you, obviously. Making smirky little I'm-so-clever comments on the internet, to a 5 year old about whom you know precisely nothing, is really very different.

FenyouGreek · 17/09/2025 13:06

DappledThings · 17/09/2025 10:05

I do. At 5 you should be keen to get things right.

Off the mark again, imo.

At 5 you should just be being, exploring, experimenting, learning. Not worried about 'getting things right.' That's actually the opposite of how productive, meaningful learning often goes.

nunsflipflop · 17/09/2025 13:08

Would you rather have fingers for toes, or toes for fingers?

Why aren’t toes called foot fingers?

LittleNoosh · 17/09/2025 13:10

What do you think adults should do to make the world a better place for when you’re a grown up?

Errr playing?

Wow. What a wonderful life. It’s not fair that, for the most part, adults stop playing. I have often thought they should make swing parks for grown ups to let off steam after work.
