How old was she when she told you?

Also by daughter do you mean she's MTF?

WomenShouldStillWinWomensSports · 13/11/2023 13:56

What is your favourite cake recipe?

AnotherVice · 13/11/2023 13:56

Define 'daughter'.

hamstersarse · 13/11/2023 13:57

I don't think this is going to go well OP

I would delete your thread.

WomenShouldStillWinWomensSports · 13/11/2023 13:57

Do you do full screen screenshots or partial shots for Twitter?

EvelynTent · 13/11/2023 13:57

Yes M2F. She knows my view is that she is biologically male whilst identifying as a woman in gender terms.

What do you think about puberty blockers?

YouWontHearTheLastOfIt · 13/11/2023 13:58

So "she" is actually a boy. Are you encouraging the change in your son?

EvelynTent · 13/11/2023 13:59

She was 18 when she told me. I would not have supported the use of puberty blockers.

Why do you think he is more important than the women and girls this social contagion is harming?

👏

What a load of 💩

EvelynTent · 13/11/2023 14:00

No, I am not encouraging the change, but I accept it and continue to love my child. I respect her wish to use a different name and pronouns, even though this was difficult for me, especially at first

lifeturnsonadime · 13/11/2023 14:00

Have you explained to your child that they are encroaching on the boundaries of women and girls if they use single sex spaces and participate in women's / girls sport?

Do you care about the impact on females of transgenderism?

Aposterhasnoname · 13/11/2023 14:00

Have you read about the health implications for cross sex hormones, and the complication that can arise from surgery, and if so how can you sleep at night knowing your child is potentially going to subject themselves to that?

VocalFryUp · 13/11/2023 14:01

Tell him to keep out of the women’s toilets please. Ta.

Why refer to them as your daughter online then when this is anonymous and you apparently know they aren't a daughter at all?

StBrides · 13/11/2023 14:02

Good luck with this, op 🤞

GodspeedJune · 13/11/2023 14:02

I hope this comes across sensitively. Were/ are they a bit of a social outlier?

I know three transgender people offline and each of them are socially awkward and don’t have friends. I have wondered if they pin their hopes on this transition changing their lives?

Deadringer · 13/11/2023 14:02

Do they intend to have surgery? Are you expected to support them in that?

My daughter agrees with me that transgender women have no place in women's sports and in safe spaces. Public toilets are a difficulty because she now looks female and would cause discomfort for others in a male toilet. Generally she tries her utmost to avoid using them

Just offering some support here as mumsnet is very anti trans, It must be very hard for you to procesd

EvelynTent · 13/11/2023 14:04

Yes, she's on the autistic spectrum. I'm not encouraging surgery, I hope she chooses not to have it. She's an adult so it will be up to her
