Is Rhodes a good family holiday destination?
Whether you have toddlers or teenagers in your family, Rhodes offers a holiday that is suitable for everyone with beautiful beaches, lots of historical treasures and a huge range of family-friendly resorts and hotels that cater to kids of all ages.
Things to do in Rhodes with kids
If your children like animals, the Farma of Rhodes Petting Zoo is one of the most popular places to visit and an unforgettable experience. Children can feed and play with ostriches, llamas, kangaroos, ponies, deer, and camels.
Kids just love water parks, so don't miss the opportunity to spend an adrenaline-filled day at Faliraki Water Park - the largest water park on the island. Or take a break from the sun and visit Rhodes Aquarium, which is an educational and fun experience.
One of the most enchanting places in Rhodes is the Valley of the Butterflies. Take a relaxing family walk along the peaceful valley, with its small river and beautiful waterfall. During the walk you will constantly be surrounded by butterflies, which often land on your arm, fascinating children. Admission for under 12s is free.
Don’t forget to visit Lindos. The quaint town is a huge favourite with tourists due to its archaeological and historical importance.
When is the best time for families to visit?
The busy peak month of August can be very hot and crowded so it’s far better to visit in May, June, July, September or even October when the heat is more bearable for children.
Do you need to hire a car in Rhodes?
Unless you’re staying in a self-catering apartment or villa, you shouldn’t need to hire a car while travelling in Rhodes as many of the resorts offer transfers to and from the airport in your booking.
However, if you find it easier to get around with younger holidaymakers and want to explore further afield, renting a car may suit your family - just make sure you have the best car seat with you!
