Best all-inclusive hotels in Greece for families

With sun-kissed shores and crystalline waters just a short flight from the UK, Greece is a failsafe option for family holidays. Throw in the convenience of an all-inclusive hotel where your meals, drinks, snacks and copious amounts of ice cream are taken care of, and you have the formula for a hassle-free, unforgettable holiday with kids.

The best family all-inclusive resorts in Greece are all rounders. They have excellent kids clubs, pools, easy beach access and a plethora of on-site facilities that cater to the entire brood.

All-inclusive Greece family holidays are as much about parent-pleasing facilities as they are keeping the little ones happy. So it’s well worth considering top-notch children’s amenities as well as adults-only areas, such as luxury spas and cabanas, to ensure your Greece family holiday is as fun as it is relaxing.

And of course, you’ll want to pick the right location. Whether that means easy access to the nearest airport and local town or off-the-beaten-path seclusion where you can spend quality time together. Focusing on popular Greek Island destinations including Corfu, Kos, Rhodes and Crete, we’ve rounded up the best all-inclusive Greece hotels for families, as recommended by Mumsnetters.

Our verdict

With five luxurious outposts in Kos, Halkidiki and Corfu, family-friendly resorts in Greece don’t get better than Ikos Resorts. The hotels are geared to families who crave a bit of luxury and are well set up for children of all ages with kids’ clubs for babies and toddlers right through to teens. Ikos doesn’t scrimp on inclusions, with an outstanding selection of restaurants that are chic and stylish with a laid-back vibe.

Take Ikos Odisia in Corfu, which sets the gold standard for all-inclusive hotels in Greece for families. Lying in a 60-acre pine-scented estate, you’ll find dreamy pools, a raft of included activities — from morning yoga to giant chess and windsurfing — and menus created by Michelin-starred chefs.

Tech-savvy parents will love that Ikos Resorts has its own app, which makes it easy to book restaurants, kids’ club places, tennis courts, diving lessons and spa treatments.

We love that the price includes complimentary use of a Tesla for a day, encouraging families to get out and explore the local area, and the Ikos Culture Pass also offers guests free entry to museums, ancient sights and vineyards.

Our verdict

With yoga, water gymnastics, beach volleyball and football on offer, Roda Beach Resort in Corfu is the best all-inclusive hotel in Greece for active families. This fun-packed resort is on the island’s north coast and offers plenty for all family members to do, from mini-golf to aqua fit, coupled with a gentle, shallow shoreline that’s perfect for tiny paddlers.

A coiling yellow slide goes directly into one of the six pools, or you could kick back on the soft sandy beach, with sunbeds and parasols. An array of watersports are available, plus archery, dance classes and Zumba. Your kids can switch between hanging out at the playground and playing at the kids’ clubs, while you unwind with a cocktail, relax at the spa, or top up your tan on a sun lounger.

In the evening, munch at Roda Beach’s main restaurant or pick from one of three waterfront a-la-carte restaurants, serving Greek, Italian and Asian cuisines, before watching the nightly entertainment.

Daios Cove is really nice, you can stay on a half board or all inclusive basis. It doesn’t feel like an all inclusive resort as the restaurants are so good.

Our verdict

Set in a private cove on Crete’s idyllic north coast, Daios Cove isn’t just one of the best family hotels in Greece, it’s also one of the most luxurious. The plush resort is built into the hillside, with both funicular and step access from the accommodation, terraced restaurants and plunge pool down to the silky sand below.

Guests staying on Daios Cove’s all-inclusive plan, called The Resident’s Club, can choose from a raft of luxury accommodation, starting from Deluxe Junior Suites. One category up, the Deluxe Junior Suite with Individual Pool features a deep balcony with a drool-worthy private plunge pool.

Of the six restaurants, two are open for breakfast and all six, including five à la carte and a buffet restaurant, are open for lunch and dinner, with dedicated kids and babies menus. Drinks include cocktails by an award-winning mixologist and a wine list that includes over 250 labels, including complimentary Veuve Clicquot Champagne and Greek wines with lunch and dinner.

The beach and pool bar is the place to go for ice cream, soft drinks and fresh fruit juices. Fancy dinner in your sumptuous suite? No problem. Order from Daios Cove’s complimentary 24-hour in-room menu and imbibe on drinks from your mini bar, which is replenished daily.

There’s a creche for under-fours, a kids’ club kitted out with mod-cons, from games consoles to a pool table, plus babysitting services and a teen hangout room in the evening so you can listen to the nightly DJ.

TUI BLUE Sensatori Atlantica Dreams

  • The beach is pebbly

  • Watersports cost extra

Stayed with TUI Sensatori in Rhodes 3 years ago. Was a brilliant holiday (we don’t usually do all inclusive) and my 10 year old still talks about it. Flights, transfer all went without a hitch. Hotel was lovely, lots of pools, restaurants, night entertainment, good beach with water sports. Would use them again.

Our verdict

Located on the south coast of Rhodes in a former fishing village, TUI Blue Sensatori Atlantica Dreams offers excellent variety with a choice of six restaurants, seven bars, seven pools and a splash park, and there are both family and adult-only zones.

There’s plenty to see and do at TUI Blue Sensatori Atlantica Dreams, whether your preference is to lounge by a different pool each day or take part in the chock-full activities programme of cooking classes, tennis, archery, football yoga and pilates.

The kids clubs are the biggest hit here, and there are options for children of all ages, from the BabyClub for babies and toddlers, the TUI Kids’ Club for 3-12 year olds and the hip Hangout for teens. Activities range from stay-and-play sessions through to treasure hunts and children’s shows, all of which can be booked on the Blue app.

Bear in mind that Gennadi Beach is pebbly so it’s worth packing water shoes to enjoy the complimentary sun loungers, Bali beds and parasols. There’s enough choice at mealtimes to suit even the pickiest of eaters, from Mesogios buffet restaurant to Caprice Italian, plus three further speciality restaurants that all-inclusive guests can dine at once per week.

Our pick of the accommodation is the family swim-up rooms, sleeping four. If you’re looking to splurge, plump for the beachfront suite with a private pool.

5

Best all-inclusive hotel for pools

Blue Lagoon Resort, Kos Town

What we like
  • Several large pools and waterslides

  • A short distance to Kos Town

  • Close to a sandy beach

What we don't like
  • Some rooms look a little tired

  • There’s an up-charge for wine in some restaurants

We stayed at the blue lagoon resort in Kos last year and was great - a separate water park with enough slides to keep my 9 year old happy as well as a lazy river and splash park.

Our verdict

A short distance from Kos’s historic Old Town, Blue Lagoon Resort’s palm tree-flanked pools are a winner for families seeking all-inclusive tranquility in Greece. The sandy beach is even closer, mere steps from the five pools and water park, with parasols and sun loungers offering more swimming and bathing options.

Blue Lagoon’s water park features a relaxing lazy river, an aqua playground and a splash pool for little ones and there are four twisting slides for bigger kids. Two playgrounds, tennis courts, football fields, beach volleyball, basketball and mini golf are among the other activities on offer. With action-packed kids’ clubs for 4-12 year olds, plus a pampering spa and adults-only pool for grown ups, there’s plenty to keep all family members busy.

Among the seven dining venues is a poolside buffet restaurant, an Italian, a Chinese and a Greek venue. Kids especially love the crepe station at Athina Pool Restaurant, where a lunchtime buffet is also served. In the evening, the family-orientated entertainment tent has a programme of nightly shows, from theme nights and singers to Abba tribute acts.

Accommodation offers either garden, sea or pool views, and ranges from twin/doubles to Family Suites sleeping up to five.

6

Best all-inclusive hotel in Rhodes

What we like
  • Fab splash park for little ones

  • Water slides and pool attractions

  • Fun Aerial Adventure Park

What we don't like
  • Closest beach is pebbly

We [did] HV Rhodes and it was very good. Great for younger kids especially.

Our verdict

Midway between Rhodes Town and Lindos on the island’s idyllic east coast, Holiday Village Atlantica is perfect for water-loving families. There’s a world of aquatic fun at the waterpark, with its splash area, pirate ship, lazy river and seven outdoor pools. Og, and there’s an adults-only indoor pool at the spa.

It’s not just about water-based fun, though. Try archery, go zorbing and put your balancing skills to the test at the Aerial Adventure course. The smallest family members can enjoy story time at the HV Creche, 3- to 8-year-olds can make new friends at HV Club, while older kids can chill out at HV Crew, where there are themed games, puzzles and organised activities on offer, giving parents the chance to indulge at the spa and relax at the adults-only pool.

When tummies rumble, sample one of the three a la carte restaurants: Kuzina, Stars & Stripes and La Trattoria, or the buffet restaurant. Sweet-toothed guests can savour daily ice cream between 2pm and 10pm and there’s a swim-up bar serving soft drinks and local alcohol.

Air-conditioned accommodation sleeps up to four and comes in a variety of categories, from the Relax Double Room with Balcony or Terrace to the Deluxe Suite with Private Pool and Terrace.

The major downside of Rhodes’ best hotel for families? The kids won’t want to leave.

7

Best all-inclusive hotel for water slides

What we like
  • Rooms with pool access

  • Close to Heraklion Airport

  • Dedicated aqua park with attractions for all ages

What we don't like
  • Small rocky beach

  • Extra charge for in-room dining

Stella Palace is by far the best AI we’ve been to… it’s the only hotel we’ve been back to a second time.
See Post
Our verdict

Greece beach resorts for families rarely combine luxury and waterparks. That’s what makes Stella Palace in Crete a standout all-inclusive resort. The on-site Stella Water Park features several coiling slides, including the twin racer Aquatube, a splash area for little ones and an adults-only zone, along with food and drink outlets.

There are 12 room types, which means there’s accommodation to suit every type of family, including rooms with direct pool access.

All-inclusive guests get to dine at Poseidon buffet restaurant and sample the five a la carte restaurants, with the number of included restaurants determined by length of stay.

The well-equipped Stella Kids Club is open daily from 10am to 6pm and there’s a lineup of kids’ evening entertainment at the Amphitheatre, plus live music, solo singers and shows for the entire family. There’s also a sleek spa, a fitness room and a programme of activities and sports facilities, including yoga, pilates, beach volleyball, tennis courts, a football court and mountain bikes available for guests to use.

What should I look for in a family-friendly all-inclusive hotel?

Consider your family's non-negotiables, such as a kids’ club and extra facilities such as babysitting services and children’s menus in restaurants. While waterslides and multiple pools won’t be a priority for some families, it will be for others. Similarly, if you’re a foodie family, you’ll want to check out Mumsnet reviews of dining options at your chosen resort. If your bunch is culture-thirsty, make sure there’s easy access to ancient Greek sites, museums and other landmarks that you can explore on holiday.

What’s included in an all-inclusive family holiday in Greece?

The price of an all-inclusive family holiday in Greece includes all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), plus snacks and drinks, including water, soft drinks, tea, coffee, and alcoholic drinks. As a minimum, alcoholic drinks will include cocktails, local beer, wine and spirits, though some resorts will also include some international brands.

A daily programme of activities and entertainment and facilities such as kids’ clubs are also included. Access to tennis courts and waterparks is typically included but resorts may charge extra for some watersports.

If you book an all-inclusive family holiday in Greece through a tour operator, such as TUI, flights and airport transfers will also be included.

What’s the best all-inclusive hotel in Greece?

When it comes to all-inclusive hotels in Greece, Mumsnetters love Ikos Resorts for family holidays. And all five resorts (in Corfu, Kos and Halkidiki) are praised on our holidays forum for their ability to combine stylish accommodation, excellent kids’ clubs, fabulous food and stunning beach settings. Whether you choose Ikos Aria in Kos or Ikos Odisia in Corfu, families are greeted with a reassuring sense of familiarity when they arrive at an Ikos Resort, which is why you will find plenty of repeat visitors.

When’s the best time to visit Greece with kids?

The best time to visit Greece with kids is between May and October. Peak season runs between June and August, when you’ll see temperatures (and prices) increase.

If you’re not restricted to kids’ summer holidays, aim for June or September, when the prices are slightly cheaper and you’ll have more space on the beach or by the pool. Temperatures are also more manageable in May and early June and September.

Does the 6-drink all-inclusive rule apply in Greece?

No. This only applies in Spain.
