Fledglings flapping and flying in February - the Flylady thread

Hello all and welcome to the February Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others Smile.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing the December and January threads Cotsowold.

We are in zone 5 for the first few days of the month.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

I can't figure out how to post the individual missions (I will get better, I hope!) so as a treat here is the sneak peak for the rest of the week which has all the missions www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions

Feb 1st's mission is to clean our vents!!

If you have already decluttered then you could start some detailed cleaning www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread Smile. Sometimes the Flylady website takes a little while to catch up on a new month.

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

I'll post the baby step and Wednesday's daily focus next.

Stressy is your dd looking forward to starting school, mine needs it so much! I've had two three year olds before, but she is something else. She's very well behaved, but so bright. She has an answer for everything (and is usually right) and has got sarcasm down to a t! I hope it won't get her in trouble at school!

Zoo hope your dd2 doing okay with the meds! And bless your ds. How old is he?

My lots are all pretty resilient with regard to catching germs. Just the odd sniffle or cough here and there. It's only really dd who was frequently poorly when younger as she had a lot of ear infections until age 3.

Cag do you have a link to these over door larder things?

Up at 6 with baby. Just been joined by dd.

Ta Da

Dryer on

scattyspice · 03/02/2017 06:54

Morning all sounds like lots of busy days planned. Hope poorly people better soon we still feeling rough here. Work today. I ❤ Lidl cotswold ( esp bakery ).

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/02/2017 07:03

Morning all, Cag, I'd also like to see the door thing please - it sounds good. zoo, sorry to hear of all the illness, sounds as if GP has a plan then? Good that you can get your scans done though. Cotswold, no kicking off the thread from me, you are too helpful with links Wink. scatty, hope work goes ok. Afresh, yes she is looking forward to it, she sees so much of it with DD1 that I hope she'll be ok with school. I am worried though about her fussiness with outfits and refusal to poo without a pull up Confused. Oh well, we have 6 months or so.

We have no milk Angry. At least had enough for DDs to have milk this morning but none spare. Of course there are bigger problems in the world but I need a morning cup of coffee!! Realised we were low on it last night then forgot all about it.

To do:-
Find caffeine ASAP after school run
Having a few hours to myself after assignment - getting haircut and, less exciting, getting car looked at, phoning plumber and food shop. With caffeine.

Must go, the bickering has started!

Afreshstartplease · 03/02/2017 07:11

stressy I had a list of things I wanted dd to have mastered before Sept and we have made good progress, the challenging one seems to be fastening her own coat. Luckily she's been reliably toilet trained day and night since turning two.

Everyone is up here now so I'd better get off the sofa!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/02/2017 09:41

The head of DD1's school (and hopefully the school DD2 will go to) said as long as they can put coats on then that's enough, the teachers can help to fasten. Of course I would like her to be able to fasten it herself though as the staff have enough to do.

Ta da:-
School run
Car dropped off
Found coffee
Valentine card and chocolate bought unexpectedly while in town
Sussed out some annual leave week options

To do
Rest of stuff on the list
Make a to do list so I can figure out what to do!
Online food shop

Morning everyone! Seems like a busy day for everyone Brew hope you found some caffeine toostressy I can't cope without my morning coffee at the moment. Dh has taken to leaving a thermos by the bed when he goes to work so I have it as soon as the baby wakes me!

Ds had a really bad no last night. He was up every hour until 3 am when I gave up and put him in our bed.

Got lots to get done this morning as we are off out this afternoon.

Ta das
Dishwasher emptied and loaded
Washing folded
Kitchen sides wiped
Rubbish to bin
DD dropped at nursery

To do
Finish daily routine
Declutter in porch
Sort out swimming stuff
Ironing
Meal plan and food shopping online

Ignoring the finishing touch mission, I briefly considered buying myself some flowers for the dining table but getting to a shop is too much hassle! Maybe I could drop a hint to dh...

foxessocks · 03/02/2017 09:43

toostressy cross post glad you got your coffee!

Afreshstartplease · 03/02/2017 09:44

We were told off by school when one of our elder two started unable to do his coat up! I think that's why I'm determined she gets it!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/02/2017 09:50

Gosh it really depends on the school doesn't it! Found caffeine, thanks foxes. Also have made unachievable to do list

OP posts:
Afreshstartplease · 03/02/2017 10:04

Yep it was even written down as homework for us ...

CotswoldStrife · 03/02/2017 10:30

Good morning! Zoo we are rocking our lives (and both me and my mum are also allergic to penicillin - allergy twins!) I may even add a visit to the chazza in today to cheer myself up.

Got a bit of a headache today, paracetamol has been consumed. Making lists to get stuff while I am out as won't have much time tomorrow.

Laundry started, washing dance uniform needed for the weekend and will sort out a few possible party outfits later (for DD, not for me obvs) as I made sure to iron an outfit for myself last night. I know, I was Shock as well. Also need to get a present and a few cards for upcoming birthdays.

See you at lunchtime!

Rshard · 03/02/2017 10:48

Is it just me or is anyone else glad it's Friday?

Ta da's
Breakfast pots in dishwasher
Sink shined
Bathroom cleaned
Dd's art homework redone on my lap top as hers wouldn't connect to our wifi - she was a right panic

To do's

But some grub for dinner (in laws are coming and we're doing a buffet tea)
Try to not overindulge at said buffet
Tidy up

foxessocks · 03/02/2017 12:36

Very glad it's Friday! This week has felt long

Ta da
Daily routine finished
Swimming bags packed
Lunch made
Food shopping and meal plan done

Got to feed DS now before we go out so not sure that I'll get any decluttering or ironing done today. Depends when we get back as it will probably be a case of home and putting dinner straight on then bath and bed for the little ones. Am hoping dh is going to bring chocolate home as it's Friday Grin

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/02/2017 12:41

Definitely glad it's Friday here too Rshard. Cotswold Grin at the party outfit obviously not for you!

Ta da (bear in mind I have been child-free this morning):-
Haircut
Luxurious coffee on my own in coffee shop Shock Smile
Holiday ideas from travel agent
Bread and milk bought
Online shop mostly done
Car picked up

To do:-
Pick up DD2 now from preschool
Venture into the chaos downstairs and tidy up
Strip bed
If time.. clean bathrooms and do exercise video with DD2

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/02/2017 14:43

Managed to do bathrooms and strip out bed so DH can finish home bleugh later. Didn't manage exercise video but did find time to eat a chocolate bar Confused. Quick 5 min declutter of messy entrance area now.

To do:-
Pick up DD1
Go to soft play. Have never been after school before - am I about to enter a circle of hell?!

OP posts:
CotswoldStrife · 03/02/2017 15:34

Afternoon! Excellent prioritising with the choc bar there Stressy I haven't exercised today either

Went to the shops but forgot one item as I thought I'd left my list at home but it was buried at the bottom of my bag Did manage to get cards and a present at least.

Must put some wine in fridge DD is rather nervously awaiting a school report. Not sure why she is nervous as they are usually good, so it's making us a bit nervous too!

Soft play on a rainy Friday after school will be busy, best of luck with that one if there are a load of children who've not been able to run around at school all day

foxessocks · 03/02/2017 17:19

Ta das
Hung up washing and put swimming stuff in the machine
Unpacked rest of swimming stuff
Took a bit of rubbish and a random pair of socks out of the car
Decluttered the porch a little bit
Started dinner and loaded dishwasher a bit more
Did some washing up
Took some rubbish out to the bin

That's all I'm going to do apart from clearing up after dinner. I'm about ready to start the weekend now! Got my chocolate for later , good call on the wine "Cotswold* I haven't got any unfortunately but am hoping I have some tonic in for a G&T later...

foxessocks · 03/02/2017 17:20

Oops sorry bold fail there

ScuttlbuttHarpy · 03/02/2017 17:36

Evening everyone, just got back from work for dp to tell me mils coming round Sunday morning. I'm out all day tomorrow so wont get a chance to crisis clean until tomorrow evening and i still havent got round to delivering avon.
My customers are going to sack me at this rate.
Time like this i wish i had a little helper or three.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/02/2017 19:10

Scuttl, sounds as if you need more hours in the day somehow!

Hello everyone, soft play was ok actually but was not cheap as ended up getting tea there. Girls had a good time though.

Fingers crossed for report Cotswold. Wine definitely a god call. DH angling for red wine tonight which I am not a fan of but might have a small glass.

Ta da:-
Showers for DDs
5 mins decluttering

To do:-
DH doing home bleugh tomorrow now - as long as I don't have to do it that's fine
Look at annual leave - how is it so hard to organise?!
Links for thread
Quick email check
Cook tea
Make bed
Laundry check
Before bed routine

As you can see, typical rock and roll Friday night here.

Cagliostro · 03/02/2017 21:25

Ugh I feel rubbish today. Sick and exhausted and grumpy.

Here is the door hanger thing - they didn't have any in store so I've just ordered some for click and collect. No idea if they're any good but at £12 for two heck I'll take the risk!

storage

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 03/02/2017 22:03

Thanks Cag, hope you feel better soon.

Here is the daily summary for Saturday...

All information also available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. The

flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 1 this week: the entrance, front porch and dining room

Spend 15 mins (or as much as you can manage if you can't do 15) decluttering in Zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, (I am jealous!) the detailed cleaning list for Zone 1 is here

No missions or zone work at the weekend unless you want to though (although it maybe the only time you get a chance if you are out during the week).

Daily focus for Saturday is family fun day
www.flylady.net/d/daily-focus/daily-focus-Saturday/

The monthly habit for February is to declutter for 15 mins a day which is a brilliant habit!

Daily reminders
reminders (radio show times are probably not accurate for UK but can listen to previous shows/podcasts)
(radio show times are probably not accurate for UK but can listen to previous shows/podcasts)

Baby step number 4 (you are starting out or want to revisit them) is

write a morning routine on post-its --we generally ignore this one although some people find it helpful. I love my home routines app which lets you do this electronically. I think there is a Flylady app but no idea what that's like.

Just in case people want to try it, here is the Flykids' mission. They will be a day behind but if you or your DC want to do them feel free!

Happy flying!

Thanks Stressy :)

Can't sleep so holed up in bed watching catchup tv. Sobbed a bit at Unforgotten :( everything is making me cry this week!

I've booked a doctor's appt as I am feeling so ill and not in a usual CFS/fibro way.
