Fledglings flapping and flying in February - the Flylady thread

Hello all and welcome to the February Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others Smile.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing the December and January threads Cotsowold.

We are in zone 5 for the first few days of the month.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

I can't figure out how to post the individual missions (I will get better, I hope!) so as a treat here is the sneak peak for the rest of the week which has all the missions www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions

Feb 1st's mission is to clean our vents!!

If you have already decluttered then you could start some detailed cleaning www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread Smile. Sometimes the Flylady website takes a little while to catch up on a new month.

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

I'll post the baby step and Wednesday's daily focus next.

Afreshstartplease · 02/02/2017 06:41

Morning all

Well all four DC were up for 615 which is unusual!

I don't have any vents but will try and do skirting boards. Also need wash all babies next size of clothes as current stuff all fairly snug now. I've already done the vests but may have accidentally bought him over 25 outfits .... plus sleep suits shopping issues

Sink filled

foxessocks · 02/02/2017 07:29

afresh I love buying baby clothes, I get quite excited when I realise my children are growing out of a size. DD is very tiny and rarely grows out of anything but ds seems to be quite different! Got him his first swimming costume last week Smile

Ok, so skirting boards today, I think I will do that one. Have to admit I never clean my skirting boards so might as well give it a go I suppose!

Ds was up early this morning too for some reason so I'm just drinking coffee in bed at the moment. Dh kindly left one by the bed in a travel mug Grin

Not going to write a to do list for today until I know how energetic I feel!! Might be a bare minimum day.

Afreshstartplease · 02/02/2017 07:38

Glad it's not just me with the baby clothes foxes Your dd is 3 like mine I think, does she start school this year?

afresh she is only just about to turn 3 so not starting school until next year.

Ds is asleep so going to attempt to put him down and get on with stuff!

Iwantacampervan · 02/02/2017 10:09

Mopped the floors yesterday to have the dog trot through from the garden several times with very muddy footprints. It' still raining so I'll clean up later when he's out with a friend- I feel in this weather it's a never ending job. I did manage to clear my draining board - far too easy to let stuff build up on the drainer.
I'm going through old boxes from the loft - far too much stuff which hasn't been touched for years.

Afreshstartplease · 02/02/2017 10:15

foxessocks · 02/02/2017 10:48

afresh I have probably referred to her as being 3 as she is closer to 3 than 2 and I'm too lazy to put 2 years 11 months or however people abbreviate it on here...I get confused! Pinafore dresses are so cute.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/02/2017 20:56

Good luck with slow puncture scatty.

Here is the daily summary for Friday...

All information also available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. The

flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 1 this week: the entrance, front porch and dining room

Spend 15 mins (or as much as you can manage if you can't do 15) decluttering in Zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, (I am jealous!) the detailed cleaning list for Zone 1 is here

The mission for the day is:-

This is our last day in Zone 1! Today I want you to add personal touches to the entrance, Dining Room, and Front porch. This can be a table cloth for the dining room, or a welcome mat for the porch.
If you are not ready to add anything into Zone 1, do a 27 fling boogie. Turn on your favorite music and get rid of 27 items! It does not matter if it is a piece of paper it counts!

Daily focus for Friday is clean out your purse and car
www.flylady.net/d/daily-focus/daily-focus-friday/

The monthly habit for February is to declutter for 15 mins a day which is a brilliant habit!

Daily reminders
reminders (radio show times are probably not accurate for UK but can listen to previous shows/podcasts)
(radio show times are probably not accurate for UK but can listen to previous shows/podcasts)

Baby step number 3 (you are starting out or want to revisit them) is explore the website. Good luck with this one, it is not the most organised website although is worth a look around.

explore the website

Just in case people want to try it, here is the Flykids' mission. They will be a day behind but if you or your DC want to do them feel free!

Cagliostro · 02/02/2017 23:49

Managed to order a new bank card (mine is split halfway down the middle!) and cancelled my packaged account.

Somehow survived the day - nearly brought the Caglets home before their last club as I just felt really rubbish. But managed it. And despite being really worn out afterwards I read bedtime stories (Matilda for DS and A Little Princess for DD - both much enjoyed so far!) and then cooked a big pot of lentil soup which if you'll pardon my language is absolutely fucking LUSH.

CotswoldStrife · 03/02/2017 00:15

I was AWOL today as well, spent a fair bit of time at the shops (went round a newly-built Lidl go me, my day rocks ) and then did a bit more shopping for someone else.

House is awful, was thinking I will be able to stay in tomorrow and do it but then found out that DD has been invited to something at the weekend which will require me to go out and purchase something for it tomorrow Sad Got a list of clothes to sort out for her at the weekend (it must be show time everywhere, we've got costumes here and dress-up days in other activities).

Going to sit down with a g&t and write a list of everything that needs to be done tomorrow. The weekend will be a bit manic, but there's always wine and takeaways

Have run & emptied dishwasher, done some ironing (it's a rarity, don't throw me off the thread now) and some laundry.

See ya tomorrow!

Cagliostro · 03/02/2017 00:25

Hoping I'll sleep better than last night (4.45am) but need to do my cycling first (I have a set of pedal things that I am starting to use as a sort of graded exercise thing). I feel really awake though despite so little sleep.

In the morning I must ring the council to pay for a room booking (organising a home ed event) and then once the Caglets have done their tasks for the morning we are meeting some friends to play.

Cagliostro · 03/02/2017 00:28

Oooh and I'm making a purchase that may help with organisation. We have too much home ed stuff that doesn't fit well in the drawers, it would be better on shelves, so I'm getting one of those larder shelf things that you hang over the kitchen door - was getting one for kitchen anyway as nowhere to store anything in there, and thought it might be good for living room too. Will get them on the way back from playdate.

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/02/2017 06:26

cag zoo house loves lentil soup
Cotswold my life is same as yours if hilights are wandering round budget supermarkets!!Grin

Manage finish building the chest drawers. I've built loads flat pack in my time, this was not only nightmare, but built it ain't too sturdy iif try to move it.Argos I am dispointed in you but closer than IKEA whose stuff has built like a dream

Lil zoo ended up at gp.chest infection,so antibiotics and inhalersSad
She's never had them before(tough wench)me and dd1 allergic penecilin so we not usually given then fir the others, but gp says should try it (gulp)best cross fingers for us!lots of chesty colds go around apparently that are morphing into bronchiolitis and pneumoniaShock(which why he don't want "leave it bit longer before reach antibiotics"... Just waiting D's. And dd2 drop now-ds used get loads chest infection and is very unhappy At school at present due sat stress and ask lil zoo breathe on him/lick himConfused

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/02/2017 06:28

I will pop in later, bit mad one here today. I had call yesterday from hospital offering me a cancellation so having my heart scans today (finally)
Happy flying!!
