Fledglings flapping and flying in February - the Flylady thread

Hello all and welcome to the February Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others Smile.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing the December and January threads Cotsowold.

We are in zone 5 for the first few days of the month.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

I can't figure out how to post the individual missions (I will get better, I hope!) so as a treat here is the sneak peak for the rest of the week which has all the missions www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions

Feb 1st's mission is to clean our vents!!

If you have already decluttered then you could start some detailed cleaning www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread Smile. Sometimes the Flylady website takes a little while to catch up on a new month.

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

I'll post the baby step and Wednesday's daily focus next.

Did pretentious tea party with mil, she loved it. As did the kids.
ironed clothes (sorry for swearing)
prepared dinner
put some pots in the dishwasher.
Put white/grey wash on in the vain hope that I can undo dp's mixing whites mistakes.

Most of my day has been taken up with ironing.
But I dont have a lot of housework for once so I'm happy.

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/02/2017 16:45

Grinat scuttl " swearing"
If you soak whites in napisan overnight that whites up grey things(and kills germs if its kids pants)can't use on wool etc tho

I've done pit clearing up.place a pig sty.I really need get sorted.I've every intention on sit on my bum and watch call the midwife at 8.meantime I need think something D's will eat, feed lil zoo and cook me and dd2 potato wedges, pizza and roasted veg

ScuttlbuttHarpy · 05/02/2017 17:13

Zoo, I've got call the midwife on record, something to look forward to when scuttlets are in bed, they've been quite lovely today, ds1 has been hungry and a tad annoying, but he's off meds so it could be worse, keeps coming down raiding the cupboards and despite all cupboards being full to the brim, hes asking for scones. Every. Bloody. Time.

Where can I get napisan from? dp is a baker so his whites are generally minging. Ds1's shirts have come up less grey but could do with improvement.

Looking forward to dinner today, Gammon roast mmmm.

foxessocks · 05/02/2017 17:19

My neck and upper back is so stuff and sore, dh is making dinner but I don't know how I'm going to manage on my own tomorrow! I can't even lift DS very well.

On a positive note I'm looking forward to call the midwife tonight and I have more chocolate (oops how did that happen?!)

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/02/2017 17:26

Wilko best(cheapest)place to get napisan
Morrison's and waitrose sell it if you can't get to one.its on baby aisle
Hmmm scones.lil zoo very partial to dry cranberry and coconut milk scones(dairy free).D's is a banana muffin boy.I can make those in my sleep,I swear I can!!
foxes choc and CTM is a perfect combo
Grin

Afreshstartplease · 05/02/2017 17:30

See I can't watch call the midwife

As someone who has given birth four times I feel this is unreasonable for me but it makes me cross my legs lol

ScuttlbuttHarpy · 05/02/2017 18:01

Afresh I'm like that with OBEM.

Cagliostro · 05/02/2017 18:15

I can't watch anything like that as it just makes me broody and sad!

I should really get out of bed and do dinner. I have only been downstairs once today and that was to do my lunch by which I mean stick a ready meal in the microwave Blush. I am just so done with this week.

Afreshstartplease · 05/02/2017 18:34

Yes anything that shows child birth makes me squeamish

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/02/2017 19:54

cag hope next weeks a little better for you
I should be same as I had traumatic 3rd birth with emergency c sect, yet I still love babies (well I had a 4th planned section)and all things pregnant so CTM and OBEM my favourite things. In fact.on really at 10tinight its OBEM follow by special delivery(American births) you could say I am a bit obsessedGrin
Right I've had food and washed up.as no choc I think I may raid biscuit tin!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 05/02/2017 19:55

Fwiw,I do get broody and sad sometimes watching these things but overall it reminds me of happiest days of my life(when zoolets arrived)

Afreshstartplease · 05/02/2017 20:36

No more zoolets then zoo?

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/02/2017 21:06

Hi everyone, will do lists, then personals then links.

Ta da:-
DDs' bedtime and evening routine
Before bed routine
10 mins decluttering - unexpectedly cleaned out a drawer in kitchen as dropped all the bits from the horrific smiggle water bottles in there. Had thought the drawer was tidy but found a load of sweets (now decluttered Smile by DH and me) and instructions for the steriliser that we have not owned for years since DD2 is nearly 4!!
Homework done with DD2

To do:-
It's 9pm so going to get ready for bed then collapse on sofa and do some admin on phone order a new bagthen hoping to properly collapse. Also need to buy DD1 some new tights online.

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/02/2017 21:31

DD1's homework that is, not DD2's.

Hello all, aww zoo, that is sweet Smile. I guess it's good the swabs came back clear for DD. Hello to afresh, Cag, Scuttl and foxes, whether you all watched Call the Midwife or not!! I do like the show but haven't watched the new series yet. I do link medical stuff (am a HCP and have a pretty strong stomach) but these days quite like completely detaching from my real life and watching something like a detective show on TV. Cag Flowers, hope you feel better next week. Same to you foxes Flowers. Grey, sitting still for more Jan 5 mins is always good! Hello to everyone else.

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/02/2017 21:40

Like not link! Although I do also series link loads of stuff then not watch it as I waste time on here instead.

Here is the daily summary for Monday...

All information also available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. The

flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 2 this week: the kitchen

Spend 15 mins (or what you can manage) decluttering in Zone 2.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 2 is here

The mission for the day is:-

Welcome to Zone 2, The Kitchen! Today we are going to clean our microwave inside and out. For some of you this might be a major job so don't forget to use your timer! I always smile a little when I see mine all nice and clean.

The daily focus for Monday is: weekly home blessing hour

Flylady herself says do the home bleugh (what we call the home blessing - makes it more bearable!) when it suits you best. Personally I occupy the DC while DH does it at the end of the week or at the weekend.

The monthly habit for February is to declutter for 15 mins a day which is a brilliant habit!

Daily reminders reminders (radio show times are probably not accurate for UK but can listen to previous shows/podcasts)

Baby-step no 6 - put out your hot spot (a hot spot is any place where clutter always builds up)

Brilliant babystep and often we can find 2 minutes to do this.

Flykids mission
Today we are going to go back into our rooms and look for 10 things that we no longer use, love or play with. Ask Mom or Dad for a bag to place these items in. These are things that are not broken or missing pieces that we can actually take and give to someone else that may not be a fortunate as we are to have these things. This is called Blessing someone else. We all have things that we just seem to have but don't use, love or need. Let's find 10 of these things and take the bag to Mom or Dad for them to put in the car. Remind Mom and Dad to drop these off at a place where they are needed. Remember what I always say: Less stuff to clean and put away means more time to play!

Happy flying.

afresh I'd have loved more zoolets!!
Oooh I don't have a microwave,so that's one less task for tommorow!!Grin
I have a little(sweaty, snoring)boy curled up with his head in my lap asleep.

Cagliostro · 05/02/2017 22:21

I love that Flykids mission, that's a great motto too. Thanks for the links Stressy :)

I'd love another Caglet. Sorry TMI but we had a pregnancy 'scare' recently and were both surprisingly disappointed with the lack of BFP Blush.

Thanks all for your kindness. Just been a rough week, hoping this one will be better and I can engage with the world again rather than hiding! :o

CotswoldStrife · 05/02/2017 23:37

Just scraping in with a Sunday report here, not much flying as still lurching from one thing to the next with the social butterfly that is DD!

Will catch up with the thread, I mean the house, tomorrow Grin

Afreshstartplease · 06/02/2017 06:29

I've got ear ache again. Any ideas why I keep getting it in the bloody mornings? It's not a good start to my day!

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/02/2017 06:52

Have you got a cold afresh?sometimes lay flat can cause fluid in ears to shift a little to slightly swollen tissues (think blocked nose, that's often swelling not snot?)
Afraid I can only offer sympathies all trouble we have with dd2ears.heat n painkillers are only useless pointers I have
Either that or something to do wisdom teeth?

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/02/2017 06:55

D's slept sofa.he fell asleep just after 6pm,slept almost 12hr(he norm sleep around 8)still tired.chesty coughs in evidence.not hungry, despite just have a mullerice fir his tea.looks like crap.think its go be 2poorly zoolets on the sofa today praying dd2 doesn't drop n join the party
