Hello all and welcome to the February Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others Smile.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing the December and January threads Cotsowold.

We are in zone 5 for the first few days of the month.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

I can't figure out how to post the individual missions (I will get better, I hope!) so as a treat here is the sneak peak for the rest of the week which has all the missions www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions

Feb 1st's mission is to clean our vents!!

If you have already decluttered then you could start some detailed cleaning www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread Smile. Sometimes the Flylady website takes a little while to catch up on a new month.

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

I'll post the baby step and Wednesday's daily focus next.

Morning all,
I had an attack of insomnia last night and didn't get to sleep until gone 3am. I suspect this was related to too much caffeine in the evening (my normal amount is nil) but I'm feeling a bit miserable since I've missed my favourite gym class and I'm so tired I feel jet lagged.

I like that it's a new month with a shiny new thread so I'm really going to try to do everything on the flight plan plus...

Today's to dos at home

It looks like everyone has had a productive day!

I had a very frustrating morning in that I had a plan all sorted to go to Pilates, food shop, get the tester pots, register at the doctors, get petrol and come home in a sensible route with a nice lunch out. Unfortunately I got to the gym and realised my wallet was on the dining room table...

It worked out ok in the end. I came back, made soup for a few day's worth of lunches (spicy sweet corn with jalapeño peppers-one of my favourites) and cleaned the kitchen while it was cooking.

I've abandoned the tester pots and food shop until tomorrow since the super posh spar attached to the petrol station has reduced a load of local butchers pies and quiches which was a bonus. I've filled up the car, registered at the doctors and had a toasted tea cake in a lovely cafe. Not too bad after all.

instanthit what a genius idea to make stock in the slow cooker. Why have I never thought of that?

Instanthit · 01/02/2017 17:35

I didn't think of it either - I came across it by accident on a slow cooker recipes website, I forget which! It's brilliant because you don't have to keep watching the pot, you can just forget about it.

PurpleDaisies · 01/02/2017 17:36

I'm definitely trying that next time I've done a roast. Smile

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 01/02/2017 18:45

Hello lovely people. Some productive days here! Will be back later for personals and links.

foxessocks · 01/02/2017 18:51

I always used to make stock in my slow cooker, chicken and lamb whenever I had leftovers from a roast. I havent done it for ages but I will start again when ds is being weaned as it's a good way to keep salt levels down. That's why I started in the first place when dd was a baby.

Anyway, ta das
Photos all ordered
Dinner made and kitchen cleared up
Living room toys put away (at least I'm hoping dh has done this while I've been feeding ds!)

To do
Should be doing pilates but as ds is asleep on me I think I might not be bothering tonight! (Excuses excuses)

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/02/2017 20:37

If you need an excuse foxes enough rest is important for you milk supplyWink

Zoolets fed,washing up done,kitchens nice n tidy
Feels weird not do any laundry.dreading the piles building!!good job new ones be plumb in Fri pm

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 01/02/2017 20:55

First day of February nearly over!

zoo, I start to twitch if I have a day without laundry - I'm sure you'll catch up on Friday though! scatty, hope you feel better soon and that anyone else feeling poorly also feels better soon.

foxes, I usually can't exercise in the evenings, too tired and unmotivated so I can sympathise. Would DD do a video in the daytime with you while DS sleeps? Or is that widely optimistic??! DD2 will let me do a bit of an exercise video now while she joins in but she is older than your DD I think. Rshard, indefinitely agree this thread keeps you motivated.

Hello to Purple, Afresh, Emerelda, WhoKn0ws, Cag, Scuttl and everyone else! Apologies if I have missed anyone. Links will follow - apologies to Cotswold and SC as I have shamelessly cut and pasted a lot of the stuff you both gave me.

Just finished tea here and tempted to collapse but will resist the urge and do laundry and before bed routine instead :)

Here is the daily summary for Thursday...

All information also available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. The

flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 1 this week: the entrance, front porch and dining room

Spend 15 mins (or as much as you can manage if you can't do 15) decluttering in Zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, (I am jealous!) the detailed cleaning list for Zone 1 is here

The mission for the day is:-

Zone 1: Mission #2 Thursday
Dear Friends,

Today lets dust the base boards in the entrance and dining room. So, Grab your duster or damp rag and set your timer for 15 minutes. I bet all of you can get this mission done before the timer goes off.

The daily focus for Thursday is: errand day

The monthly habit for February is to declutter for 15 mins a day which is a brilliant habit!

Daily reminders reminders (radio show times are probably not accurate for UK but can listen to previous shows/podcasts)

Baby step number 2 (if you are starting out or want to revisit them) get dressed as soon as you get up

I don't get dressed to shoes each day but do find that getting dressed early has been one of the most life-improving things about following Flylady!

Just in case people want to try them, when I remember I might put on the Flykids' missions. They will be a day behind but if you or your DC want to do them feel free! www.flylady.net/c/flykids.php?tzm=0

Oops sorry

CotswoldStrife · 01/02/2017 22:02

Completely unproductive day here! A friend was injured this morning and I have spent the day in various medical establishments with them (thankfully they are doing OK). One of the tough things about living away from family is the lack of backup on occasions like this so it is nice to have (and be part of) a team of friends that can help out on these occasions. It does make you reflect a bit, though. And want to drink a lot of gin on a Tuesday night

So - I will do the washing up and tidy round a bit. Hopefully catch up tomorrow. Fab links Stressy, and so right about the dressing - I will put out some clothes for the morning, we are always more rushed when I leave getting dressed until right before we are leaving for school!

I am just eating a fortune cookie (ravenous through missing lunch today!) and the message is 'live for the future and not in the past'. Good advice tasty too Grin

foxessocks · 01/02/2017 22:06

toostressy DD keeps asking to "help" with my exercise - she has been eyeing up my yoga mat! I should try it but I think she may just climb on me. I have no excuse not to do some while she is at nursery though. Having said that, I did manage a 20 minute work out this evening in the end.

So did anyone clean their vents today?! I didn't. What are base boards? Skirting boards?

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 01/02/2017 22:19

Ha! I didn't clean anything today, let alone vents . Base boards I presume are skirting boards yes. Cotswold, glad your friend is ok. I'm a HCP so frequently reflect on my own mortalilty etc (I tend to view that as a good thing) but it always shakes me up a bit when things happen to people close to me.
