Fledglings flapping and flying in February - the Flylady thread

Hello all and welcome to the February Flylady thread! Welcome to all current posters and also to any returners plus of course anyone who would like to join. The more the merrier.

We are a friendly group who (sort of) follow the Flylady system in hopes of a more organised home and life. Some of us manage that better than others Smile.

It's my first time running this thread so here we go with links... Please if anything is wrong feel free to correct me. Hopefully it will all go swimmingly this month but I apologise in advance for anything not slick! I'm starting a day early as have work tomorrow and I am slow at this but will try to stay on the old thread until tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing the December and January threads Cotsowold.

We are in zone 5 for the first few days of the month.

Flylady advises decluttering for 15 mins a day. I tend to manage 5 but I know lots of people have great results with 15.

I can't figure out how to post the individual missions (I will get better, I hope!) so as a treat here is the sneak peak for the rest of the week which has all the missions www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions

Feb 1st's mission is to clean our vents!!

If you have already decluttered then you could start some detailed cleaning www.flylady.net/d/zones/detailed-cleaning-zone-5/

For a summary of what's going on, go to www.flylady.net/c/lp.php or just follow this thread Smile. Sometimes the Flylady website takes a little while to catch up on a new month.

Newbies, welcome, have a look around the Flylady website - it can sometimes be a bit disorganised. Unless you want to, beware of signing up for her emails - there are hundreds and all the info is on the website anyway. Here is the getting started link [[http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

I'll post the baby step and Wednesday's daily focus next.

Stilllivinginazoo · 04/02/2017 06:50

In my defence the way my kitchen laid out I have to squat to look in there (not room to bend over)so don't use it/go in there!

Afreshstartplease · 04/02/2017 08:45

Morning all

How's the cupboard now zoo?

I've been up since 7 but all I've managed is two cups of tea and fed / changed / dressed baby. The other three have done their own breakfast.

Baby is nodding off so I'll make a start

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 04/02/2017 09:22

Morning all, oh dear zoo, good luck with cupboard. DD2 at dance class and DD1 home with DH so am making the most of free time.

Ta da:
Sorted some mail (counting as 5 mins decluttering)

To do
Calendar check
Take DD1 home and bring DD2 to dance class (normally have both all morning but DH at home this morning so making the most of it!)
Phone plumbers - really need to do this today but thought had better wait until after 10 on a Saturday morning
Go to travel agent but doesn't open till later

Swimming with DDs later. Ugh, hate it but they love it.

ScuttlbuttHarpy · 04/02/2017 10:41

Hope your feeling better soon cag.

I have a busy day yet again today, opticians appt at 12, grab some shopping and then off to friends house as her father caught wind that I'd got a job as a cleaner and his has just left. So I have a private job to do as well. Pays more than my other job so I'd be daft to turn it down.

I have loaded the dishwasher though so that's a bonus.

Right off to do shopping, I'll see you all later.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 04/02/2017 11:59

Scuttl, definitely sounds like the sensible option to do the cleaning job today.

Ta da:-
Booked plumber
Left details with travel agent
Found a day to book an extra shift on - couldn't actually face booking the extra shift yet
Couple of bits bought from the shops

To do
Pick up DD1 now
Lunch
Online food shop arriving
Swimming brrrrrrrr

Manic here today. DD had her usual activity this morning but it was a dress-up day, did some shopping while she was there and then dashed back for lunch before dropping her at a party. It's given me a bit of time to get tomorrow's stuff ready as she has two things on then too.

DD is chuffed as she likes being busy, I am swearing to myself a bit and trying to get things sorted. She is back on the calpol too, sneezing again Sad I hope it isn't another cold!

Having a coffee and printing off stuff at the moment although just had to dash upstairs and refill the printer with paper and DD's report was fine, no worries.

Need to label a bit more clothing for tomorrow, clean shoes and pack bag. May wash and press a plain t-shirt too (I have bought a cheap pack of three, one is fine the other two have slight marks - trying to decide whether to use the good one and then decide on the others later) as might be needed under one costume.

See ya later!

Greymalkin · 04/02/2017 16:46

Here is the daily summary for Sunday...

All information also available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net. The

flight plan
should update every day.

We are in Zone 1 this week: the entrance, front porch and dining room

Spend 15 mins (or as much as you can manage if you can't do 15) decluttering in Zone 1.

When you have finished decluttering, (I am jealous!) the detailed cleaning list for Zone 1 is here

No missions or zone work at the weekend unless you want to though (although it maybe the only time you get a chance if you are out during the week).

Daily focus for Sunday is renew your spirit
www.flylady.net/d/daily-focus/daily-focus-Saturday/

The monthly habit for February is to declutter for 15 mins a day which is a brilliant habit!

Daily reminders
-reminders/daily reminders (radio show times are probably not accurate for UK but can listen to previous shows/podcasts)
(radio show times are probably not accurate for UK but can listen to previous shows/podcasts)

Baby step number 5 (you are starting out or want to revisit them) is

use kind words about yourself

This is a good one I think. I realised last night that I spend most evenings procrastinating while being annoyed with myself for not being super productive. What on earth is the point of that???! Decided to be a bit kinder to myself in the evenings in the hope of being more productive in the day. Will see how it goes. We all know how important chilling out in any free time we get is!

Happy flying!

Also on a non-flying note, I need to get a new bag. An every day bag for being out with the DC. I tend to over pack. Do I get one slightly too big or slightly too small. And why is it so hard to find one that's just right????!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 04/02/2017 21:59

Sorry loads of typos there! Rushed it a bit but will still use kind words about myself Wink

My house is available to visitors....yay. Going bed now.

Afreshstartplease · 05/02/2017 07:48

Morning all

I've woken up with earache, the joys!

foxessocks · 05/02/2017 09:27

toostressy I have an across the body satchel type bag which is really not big enough for nappies etc and then a huge bag which is too big so I'm no help really Confused if you find something good let me know!

Afresh sorry to hear you've got earache that's not nice, I luckily haven't had earache since I was a kid but suffered with it a lot then. It's horrible.

I have a got a bit of a cold and had another bad night with ds. I've got backache from sleeping funny the last few nights because I put ds in our bed. And I'm properly grumpy this morning because I haven't had a coffee yet. Just snapped at dh and he definitely didn't deserve it Sad

Need to try and salvage this day!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/02/2017 09:53

Hello, I am looking at the Mia Tui ones but am unsure as is online. A friend recommended cath kidston but I don't think they are big enough or otherwise are too big. May just try to fix current one which was a lucky Sainsbury's shop find.

With DD2 in cafe while DD1 does activity - back later. Brew for everyone who is feeling poorly / tired

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 05/02/2017 10:38

I can't be much help with grown up bags as I use this top cat one 😂 I have a similar one with Marvin the Martian from looney tunes.

I did just see that Kipling have a deal of the day thing on amazon though if that's any good.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 05/02/2017 12:47

Hello all, Cag that bag looks the perfect size but, yes, was aiming to at least pretend to be a grown up Grin. Will check out Amazon. Afresh and foxes, hope you are feeling a bit better or at least surviving the day.

Ta da:-
Laundry in progress
Lunch eaten
Dishwasher done
Cake ordered for DD2 bday

To do:-
Put away clean laundry
5 mins decluttering
Out to playdate later
Decide on bag so I stop spending time looking at bags on internet
Pre DC I would have just gone into town to buy one. Post DC I hardly ever go into the 'city centre' although I might check out what our town has.

OP posts:
foxessocks · 05/02/2017 13:07

Well I managed to eventually get up and dressed and did all the daily routine so the house is at least tidy (or as tidy as it ever is!) . I'm not being grumpy anymore so that's good. Dh just making some lunch now and we've been out and got some emergency supplies (we ran out of nappies which I'm cross about because I'm usually organised enough for that not to happen!!)

foxessocks · 05/02/2017 13:09

At least bad back / neck gives me a good excuse to put the ironing off for another day.

How is the ear afresh?

I love the top cat bag by the way!

Afreshstartplease · 05/02/2017 13:58

The ear ache did piss off thank fully

I'm having one of those run away doing stuff none stop but doesn't look like I've done fuck all days
