Bought a lovely Victorian flat with my partner however the previous occupant left this truly awful painting. Am I being unreasonable to just throw it away? Partner seems to think we could sell it! I just want it gone as it’s giving me nightmares just looking at it.

No matter how many times you sell that painting it will end up back on your wall in its place shock

LemmysAceCard Mon 01-Mar-21 22:20:21

Jesus no wonder it got left behind

Whatdoin Mon 01-Mar-21 22:21:51

I see why they left it!
DP is right though, someone will buy it, the previous owners clearly did. It saves it going to landfill.

Although maybe it belongs to the flat & that’s why they left. They’d tried to dispose of it several times but it kept turning back up mwahaaa! grin

Eww I was gonna say stash it under your bed in case they come back for it but bugger that!
Looks like that thing under the bench in Harry Potter 😬

Ponoka7 Mon 01-Mar-21 22:22:18

I think that you should sel it, it's good. It should go quickly.

TylluanBach Mon 01-Mar-21 22:23:21

I actually quite like it,I'm a weirdo though grin

LaceyBetty Mon 01-Mar-21 22:23:36

I think you need to burn it or something! Although, that might release the evil.

tunnocksreturns2019 Mon 01-Mar-21 22:24:47

I couldn’t have that in my house. I see why you ‘want it gone ASAP’ as they say on my local Facebook selling pages 🤣

I agree with PP - you need not just to throw it away but to destroy it. Urghh!

chillied Mon 01-Mar-21 22:25:18

Sold! to TylluanBach.

Post it to them!

Alexandernevermind Mon 01-Mar-21 22:25:34

Is it signed?

Rosebean92 Mon 01-Mar-21 22:27:04

I’m not usually the superstitious type but it really does have a bad energy around it confused

Burn the fucker.

Sparklesocks Mon 01-Mar-21 22:28:01

I wouldn’t throw it away without some sort of room cleansing first - looks like it’ll come back otherwise 😄

Rosebean92 Mon 01-Mar-21 22:28:10

It does have a signature which I can’t quite make out and there’s nothing written on the back

I'd chuck it out without a moment's hesitation.

PicsInRed Mon 01-Mar-21 22:29:00

Yuck.

Have it appraised just in case as ugly shit can be surprisingly valuable. If it's worthless, burn the evil clean out of it.

Sell it, definitely. Someone spent a long time painting that and it would be awful to throw it away. I quite like it, but I don't think the DCs would (they tolerate my skull collection).

I have quite a few random originals in my house that I've 'rescued' from the tip, boot sales and charity shops. None as wierd as that though!

Anniegetyourgun Mon 01-Mar-21 22:34:14

I hate to tell you this, but it's not a painting.

It's a photograph.

(Tell us in the morning how much sleep you got tonight.)

rawalpindithelabrador Mon 01-Mar-21 22:34:24

I'd burn that.

BlackeyedSusan Mon 01-Mar-21 22:36:43

yabu canvasses are expensive... it can be painted over and used again.

TylluanBach Mon 01-Mar-21 22:37:58

How much would you sell it for?wink

Onjnmoeiejducwoapy Mon 01-Mar-21 22:38:19

My first thought was can you sell the house 😂 FUCK it’s horrifying
