To throw away this painting - with pic

Bought a lovely Victorian flat with my partner however the previous occupant left this truly awful painting. Am I being unreasonable to just throw it away? Partner seems to think we could sell it! I just want it gone as it’s giving me nightmares just looking at it.

Yeah sell it. And price it HIGH. Give the impression that its sought after, and then you negotiate downwards!

Some fucking idiot will buy it:o

  1. Call a priest
  2. Burn it
  3. Call another priest
  4. Call ANOTHER priest and get him to bring the Pope.
  5. One more priest, just to be sure.
PyongyangKipperbang · 01/03/2021 23:04

But until then, keep it out of the flat!

PyongyangKipperbang · 01/03/2021 23:04

@Houseofvelour

  1. Burn it
  2. Call another priest
  3. Call ANOTHER priest and get him to bring the Pope.
  4. One more priest, just to be sure.
Then burn all the priests.

And the pope.

Get him to bring the Pope! That did make me laugh out loud!

Wonder where it was lurking when you viewed the house? Have you checked attic/ under stairs/basement for more?

SenecaTrewe · 01/03/2021 23:07

Burn it and call a priest.

I do not recall seeing the painting when we were viewing the flat, one would not forget seeing this lying around! Thankfully there’s no basement or attic but there is an outside storage cupboard

This is how it always starts in horror movies.

Then the blood turns real.

PassionPeach · 01/03/2021 23:11

Say I have no taste, if you like, but I actually really like that painting and would hang it on my wall! It's very interesting looking.

Rosebean92 · 01/03/2021 23:11

That’s it I’m binning it!!

Leave it outside of your property with a sign saying help yourself. Somebody might like it!

HowManyToes · 01/03/2021 23:12

YABVU to put that in the burn. That monstrosity needs to die in a fire. Burn it before it steals your soul 🔥 🔥

EugenesAxe · 01/03/2021 23:15

Someone will want it. Don't just chuck it.

Now I'm slightly freaking out because my stupid fucking US predictive text does not have chuck as a verb, only a proper noun, so it felt like the 'spirit of Chuckie' had infiltrated my phone.

Stinkywizzleteets · 01/03/2021 23:15

Looks like an art students work. Look for a signature and store it away in case they sell for
Millions one day.

I quite like it

blueshoes · 01/03/2021 23:16

It's like the mouth in Alien.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 01/03/2021 23:17

I'd say that it gives me a Monkey's Paw vibe but it was a much stronger visceral clench than 'vibe' conveys.

My brother had a huge, disturbing painting behind and above his bed. Absolutely nobody was startled when it fell on him one night, we were just surprised that he survived.

earthyfire · 01/03/2021 23:17

I'd ask the owners if they want it back. Do they realise the've left it behind? I'd want rid.

Somanysplitends · 01/03/2021 23:18

I wouldn't want it anywhere near my house but I reckon you might as well at least try to sell it. Tho the money you get for it might be cursed and infect everything you buy with it so maybe not...

maybelou · 01/03/2021 23:19

Holy crap that thing is definitely haunted, I'd burn it just to be safe OP Grin

SarahLox77 · 01/03/2021 23:20

I would leave it outside my house "free to a good home" - and then spend all day peering out the window to see what kind of person eventually takes it.
I bet it will go though (or at least it would here in London).

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 01/03/2021 23:20

Send it to a charity shop so that someone can find it and post it on Terrible Art in Charity shops - it's unfathomably hideous!

Changechangychange · 01/03/2021 23:21

YABU to bin it. It needs burning.

gamerchick · 01/03/2021 23:22

Ya ruddy pansies Grin

Dont bin it, someone will buy it for the canvas at the least. List it on facebook or eBay or something. Get a couple of quid.

SugarfreeBlitz · 01/03/2021 23:23

I don't like it, but I think you could sell it.

Then call a priest haha! Grin
