Anyone else excited for this? Ready to get going in the new year?

I got all excited when it was announced but just can't get the site to load. Had anyone else managed to get into it?

I signed up yesterday. I've done a few of them in January but was also relieved to see the sessions are shorter than ones I've done before. It always seemed a struggle to fit in the longer ones.

I am trying to get to some in person classes this month to, so might stretch the 30 days - the intro today mentioned it was progressive so I don't want to skip sessions.

PeppaPigStinks · 01/01/2024 18:06

Can I join… I am hoping to fit it in my day somehow and have printed the calendar!
I am hoping ticking it off will help motivate me to keep going.

Weepingwillows12 · 01/01/2024 19:05

I am in again this year. I have done the January series for about 6 years but this year I have managed to do yoga at least a few times a week throughout the year (until I got ill in December then Christmas) and really feel much better for it. Realised I was choosing the shorter easier options though so having enforced structure will help.

Was a bit nervous that it might be all flow but having listened to the intro and seen the calendar I feel happier now. Shorter sessions are better for me.

functioningadult · 01/01/2024 19:21

I'm in. I've tried and failed with every other one of these challenges but I did get into daily practise at one point last year and it would be good to use this to get back into the habit.

AceofPentacles · 01/01/2024 19:26

I'm in. Although I've never completed one...
2022 - got covid
2023 - got a shoulder injury
2024 - currently got a cold but that's not going to stop me!

Makingtheextradaycount · 01/01/2024 21:34

I’m in. Did it in 2020 but never managed it since. Like the fact that none if the sessions are too long do I have no excuse to not keep up.

ConflictedCheetah · 01/01/2024 21:52

The length of sessions is great. I think they were similar last year. Keeping them under 30 mins really helps. Excited for the morning. I hope the video is up in time! I can't find any reference on the site FAQ to what time they'll be uploaded.

Day 1 done! Feels great to get started.

Email arrived at 6.30 which will be a little late for me when kids are back at school but will see later if I can get access via the site earlier. Will share link if so.

Good morning everyone. I'm in and day 1 done. Video was on youtube around 6am. I did most of centre last summer and really enjoyed it so I'm excited to see this one through. Hope everyone has a good day and finds the time to complete day 1

artforartssakemoneyforgodssake · 02/01/2024 07:58

I’ve joined. I’ve done a couple before but never on the 30 days so very pleased to have done day1 on day1. Very tight hips and hamstrings for me today. My yoga goal is to achieve a lunge through after a down dog - never managed that yet.

AceofPentacles · 02/01/2024 08:34

Did day 1 before breakfast, actually shocked how inflexible I am and creaked my way through it. Feels really good to be back on the mat .

GettingFree · 02/01/2024 08:41

Day one done - loved it! Cute shot of Adrienne and Benji both doing a downward dog at the end. I agree keeping the videos under 30 mins makes it so much more manageable. Thanks for the thread, it's nice following and seeing what other people think.

I'm wondering if I can make some easy changes to my space to make it feel more relaxing/luxurious - currently practising in the living room, thinking about using incense/candle/diffuser and maybe a lamp for softer lighting. Most of my practice is at the studio and I'm keen to get into the habit of more regular yoga at home. Any tips/suggestions?

mynameiscalypso · 02/01/2024 08:52

I also managed Day 1 first thing this morning; a nice gentle start although like others, I was shocked at how stiff and inflexible I felt. Although I did start to wonder halfway through if maybe it's just that my arms are too short for my body!

My boss set all of his emails from over the Christmas break to be delivered at 7am this morning so I definitely needed the session this morning for a bit of headspace before I dive straight back into work!

Jumbojem · 02/01/2024 08:52

Day 1 done, lovely chilled start but she does always love to get a plank in, doesn't she?
@GettingFree I would love a luxurious space but I have to push the coffee table and airer aside to even have room so not much hope there. I always open the curtains onto the garden though as it was cheering last year to see the mornings getting lighter as the days ticked by.

Sooverthemill · 02/01/2024 08:54

Day 1 completed! God I'm not so flexible as this time last year ( my once daily practice is now when I can manage it). Can anybody in the entire world aoart from Adrienne and Kassandra actually bend over flat to the floor whilst sitting cross legged? I feel I'd need to remove my legs first! But that was nice. I did feel my usual frustration at the begging when she quite rightly gets us to sit quietly and breathe but all my mind want to do is start!

also given that she said you don't 'need' blocks she mentioned them a lot...small niggle

I practice in the sitting room. Usually have main light off and that's it. Don't like incense or candles personally and I loathe the music I've encountered the few times I've done in person yoga. Sometimes I have a cat for company

Trickedbyadoughnut · 02/01/2024 09:38

Hello all! Very excited for this year - I broke my hand and tore a tendon part way through last year's (totally unrelated to yoga ...) so hoping to finish this one!

I'm in Switzerland, so the video lands a bit late for me to do in the morning: I've always done the videos before bed, but it does mean that I get behind sometimes when my day overruns. I will do Day 1 in my lunchbreak today, but I may move to a day behind so that I can do them first thing. We'll see!

Weepingwillows12 · 02/01/2024 09:39

I think sometimes smell helps make it feel nice but don't often bother. Had a really nice smelling yoga mat spray but the kids spilt it last year and haven't replaced it. I usually have my eyes closed when I do yoga (as weirdly feel less self conscious that way) so candles and decor don't impact me.

HappyNewYears · 02/01/2024 10:04

I had to go kneeling to do the bend forward, can others really sit cross legged and put their forehead on the floor? Anyway I did my version of everything so pleased with that.

CrimsonElevenDelightPetrichor · 02/01/2024 10:06

Day 1 done. Nice & gentle. My hips were so stiff!
I also had cat company @Sooverthemill , but mine were playfighting & kitten kept trying to chew my laptop cable, so not as calm as it might have been. 😆

I tend to think it's a miracle if I can sit cross legged, let alone touch the floor in front of me!

LilacpointMummy · 02/01/2024 11:20

I did centre last year and move the year before, so have been looking forward to this.

I do practice yoga every day, but it's nice to have a series to follow, rather than looking randomly for something that fits my mood.

I do 3 yoga classes a week, so once they start next week I will be a bit behind as I won't have time for Adriene as well as a class.

Definitely don't aim to get your body over like that. I'm pretty flexible and can't do that!
Also sit up on something to make it easier on your hips when cross legged - a block if you have one, a cushion or folded towel or blanket if you don't. Any bit of height makes it easier to sit cross legged and easier to fold forward, especially if craky first thing!

BUT the aim is to lean as far forward as YOU can which may not be far at all. That's ok. You'll get a great stretch which is the point

Morning all. Back on the mat after a bad year involving 2 doses of covid and a slipped disc. I will take everything gently including sitting cross legged which is my personal hate. I read something recently - possibly on here - that suggested some people will never sit cross legged easily because their femurs are set deeply in the hip socket.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 02/01/2024 12:04

Day one done here too. Like others I have very tight hips - either from my main sport (running), or stored up stress and emotion (plenty of that in my life). So it was good to stretch today. I don't go back to work until Monday so this week should be manageable at least.

@artforartssakemoneyforgodssake I too would love to go from down dog to a lunge. I think there's something in the technique about a little lift as you go through. I almost got there last year but am a long way off this year. Something to aim for.

ConflictedCheetah · 02/01/2024 12:14

For getting through to a lunge from downdog a lot of it is in the arms. You definitely need to shift your weight forward over your arms - almost plank arms- before you put your foot down. Makes a big difference.
