Anyone else excited for this? Ready to get going in the new year?

I got all excited when it was announced but just can't get the site to load. Had anyone else managed to get into it?

Can you do plank with your knees down?

I can't particularly think of any without planks, but nor do I think of them as a big thing, so I wouldn't notice either way.

I do remember an Aloyoga one, which, when the guy was transitioning from down dog to forward fold st the top of the mat, came out with the line, " if handstand is part of your practice..." and then went down dog to handstand to forward fold just by lifting his legs. I laughed, because while I can do a handstand, I can't imagine my core would ever be strong enough that I could just casually do one as part of a transition.

HappyNewYears · 30/01/2024 14:06

I can do plank with knees down but sometimes the movements don’t flow very well.

mynameiscalypso · 30/01/2024 22:18

I enjoyed today's other than crow pose which I just fast forwarded through. Never going to be able to do it thanks to my dodgy joints so not going to waste time trying. I kept thinking I was doing some of the other poses like bunny pose a bit wrong but I couldn't really see what to fix. Oh well.

I'll do tomorrow's as well to round off the month but I don't like the ones where she doesn't talk us through it. My mind always goes blank when it comes to thinking for myself and I can't remember anything other than down dog. I end up spending the whole video falling out of poses and constantly checking the TV to see if I'm doing the same as her because I have no idea what to do otherwise. It's not very relaxing. But I'd be more annoyed if I didn't do all 30 days!

EBearhug · 30/01/2024 22:24

I did crow for a whole second!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/01/2024 23:20

Well done @EBearhug!

I didn’t even attempt crow. My block is in the car boot, I might have a go at the weekend using the block like Adriene did in the video. I wasn’t sure if I was doing bunny pose right. I did like the reverse bridge at the end, and even didn’t mind the real bridge too much.

narniabusiness · 31/01/2024 07:39

This series seems to have gone very fast. I’ve enjoyed it. It seemed like a few random poses at the end of yesterday’s flow but it was fun. As pp said, I’m not sure I did bunny right and after two years I still can’t get crow, but hey ho.
Not sure about today’s practice. I feel like I ought to do it for completeness but I prefer a guided practice. I wonder why she ends them like that when we all seem to dislike day 30 🤔

ErnestCelendine · 31/01/2024 07:59

Just did day 29 and will hopefully do day 30 this evening.

Don't think I did bunny right as it's a new pose for me and I couldn't see the TV properly from it. Will Google and try as part of day 30.

Did my best crow ever for a couple of seconds before falling out with a flash of terror that I was going to break my wrists! Happy though as I'm clearly stronger than I used to be.

Love the 2 day rule - can apply it to lots of things in life!

Sooverthemill · 31/01/2024 08:23

I won’t do her day 30 I hate day 30 always but will repeat one I like. Off to do a new thread for February

mynameiscalypso · 31/01/2024 08:33

Thanks @Sooverthemill!

Trickedbyadoughnut · 31/01/2024 08:47

I can't do crow but did the rocking - it's fish that I despise the most! My in-person yoga class used to have it every week, so I have been checked regularly that I'm doing it correctly, but it makes my back spasm and my neck hurt so I didn't even attempt it.

I'll attempt Day 30 today, although it's not usually my thing.

EBearhug · 31/01/2024 09:32

I will do day 30 the first time I go through the 30 days, but rarely do if I repeat them.

afaloren · 31/01/2024 10:29

And done! I don’t love Day 30 either but I tried for the sake of completion. I was finished before she was, heh. Going forward I think I’m going to do the calendar. This has been so good for me even if I am still very feeble and inflexible. I even threw in a few planks today just because I can now do them! Couldn’t at the start of the month.

Trickedbyadoughnut · 31/01/2024 14:00

I decided to make myself do Day 30 properly and turns out I really enjoyed it. That's never happened before. Was definitely finding what feels good. Meant I could skip all the moves that I didn't particularly and redo some of my favourites.

I couldn't remember how she'd got us into gate pose, but I did want to try that again as found it a good stretch so found a very graceless way into it!

And did some half-lizard poses (lizard with hands down but not down on your elbows - I think that's what it's called?) as a combination of running and then sitting at a desk all day seems to make my adductors grumpy. Held them for a long time before I felt proper release.

Buttalapasta · 31/01/2024 14:51

I'm actually quite amazed at how much stronger* I am now! Considering it is literally minutes a day working on strength, I didn't expect to notice any difference.

*still feeble but, relative to when I started, massively stronger 💪

HappyNewYears · 31/01/2024 15:29

I quite enjoyed todays, it was far more relaxing not having to concentrate on listening and as pp says it made it easier to miss the things I don’t like and add my own alternatives.

mynameiscalypso · 31/01/2024 16:55

Having said I didn't like the sessions where she doesn't talk, I actually really enjoyed today's, having to crane my neck to look at the TV aside. I pretty much followed the video although held some of the poses a bit longer and sped up/cut out some of the transitions. I think if had been a normal guided practice, it would have been one of my favourite sessions of the series.

bellinisurge · 31/01/2024 17:48

@mynameiscalypso me too. I don't feel confident enough to do it on my own and end up craning my neck. Freestyled at the end.
But I did it. And I'm very proud of myself.

Well done everyone

Weepingwillows12 · 31/01/2024 19:14

Another one completed. Well done everyone.

EmmaStone · 31/01/2024 19:15

Very well done everyone. I never quite got into the groove with this one, and was behind from the start and never made it past day 17. I've now got Covid, so that serves me right 😂. TBF, I had really upped the more higher intensity stuff, but I benefit so much from the yoga, I've just not been good about making the time (hugely busy month at work too, which hasn't helped the headspace). Excuses, excuses.

mynameiscalypso · 31/01/2024 19:16

High five to everyone who completed it or even just started it. It's really nice to hear about some of the changes/improvements people have seen over the last month. I'm not sure I can point to anything personally but it definitely demonstrates the value of the daily practice.

froginawell · 31/01/2024 19:45

Woo! The whole month! Well done everyone.

Right. I'm still in sheep mode, I need someone to order me to do a particular thing to keep going with daily yoga!

Votes for calendar? For doing last years? This years again?

cornishone · 31/01/2024 19:52

I don't like the silent one. But now what! Need some motivation to keep it up but some of her practices are too long.

Rummikub · 31/01/2024 20:03

Im definitely repeating flow.

Those of us from the long running yoga thread who repeated the January ones Mice and Center found it beneficial.

It seems to build up and I found that the tips she gives make more sense the more you do the same session.

EBearhug · 31/01/2024 20:36

@Rummikub
Mice?
