Who's signed up? I've done these every year since 2016 and I can't wait! Although my health has been poor this year I've managed to practice at home almost every day. I love the kickstart these give my year

Did 18 and 19 tonight and really enjoyed the extended session. Quite challenging but also very satisfying. Amazed I'm still on track.

Willlow · 20/01/2022 22:38

@cungryhow I've been looking at the tops, but not sure which size to order. Are they true to size?

cungryhow · 21/01/2022 09:29

@Willlow, true to size to generous I think , I’m normally a 10-12, more of a 12, ordered 12 and it’s nice and roomy on me.

Sooverthemill · 21/01/2022 10:50

I loved day 19. Really good stretches and I could do pyramid. I do tend to lean too much on the prose where you put elbow on thigh

Last year I bought a tee shirt from Breath and my size s was Percy for my size 8/10

Perfect! Apologies, my dog is called Percy so autocorrect assumed!

I am about behind but going to try and catch up a bit as I like chatting with you all about how we find each session.

Just did day 15 and 16 back to back which I enjoyed. Day 17 looks like a snuggly one so might do that this evening then attempt to do 2 a day over the weekend to get caught up but not going to get annoyed if I don't. Weekends are busy in this house with the kids clubs etc.

EmmaStone · 21/01/2022 11:59

Just did 18 & 19 back to back. 18 nice and slow and stretchy, thought 19 was quite hard on the wrists.

It might just be getting used to the (every other) daily practice, but I feel it started quite strong, and hasn't got stronger IYSWIM? I'm absolutely fine with that, but it could have put beginners off I think.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 21/01/2022 12:20

Just finished 20-despite laptop buffering whilst she was in plank!!!!

Really good- do not get fooled by her "comfy" outfit...

And my hip creases are so so sore!!

Rummikub · 21/01/2022 13:15

Just did day 18

I liked the stretches but I couldn’t Reach my elbow to knee at all!

What are hip creases btw?

guinnessguzzler · 21/01/2022 13:50

Grin @Rummikub I was wondering the same. I always presume they're the bit where your leg joins your body at the front? Very happy to be corrected Grin

Not had a chance with Day 20 yet but will fit it in this afternoon.

Rummikub · 21/01/2022 14:15

Yes that’s what I presumed too but thought I’d check.

I just couldn’t do pyramid with hands to floor and feet flat on the floor.

I used to be so flexible!

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 21/01/2022 15:40

@Rummikub

I take it as where your leg joins your torso- so when you sit down where the bend happens?

Adrienne talks a lot about it-I never knew about them before her but mine is def very stiff today-thus helping me pinpoint it Grin

I could barely swing my leg up to put on my shoes

angerelle · 21/01/2022 15:55

I've been lurking, but the comments about hip creases have tempted me into posting, glad it's not just me! I couldn't work out whether it was karate or yoga that was making them hurt, sounds like it was yoga!

I'm really glad I found the thread, I've not really done much yoga, I thought about doing last year's challenge, but struggled to fit it in, these shorter sessions are much more manageable! I did Day 19 this morning and all of your posts are helping me to keep turning up 😊

LizziesTwin · 21/01/2022 16:22

I’m keeping up too - my only disappointment is that despite doing yoga everyday the sessions aren’t long enough to count towards a Strava badge.

😂😂

Yes I’m stretching muscles I wasn’t aware of.

Rummikub · 21/01/2022 16:32

And reading others posts is also helping me to turn up even if I am behind. Otherwise I’d have long given up.
Us anyone thinking of going back to day 1? Or is there another communal one we can do?

UnaOfStormhold · 21/01/2022 17:23

@lizziestwin I've just about managed to find a 30 minute session each week for the January Strava Yoga challenge, sometimes adding in a few extra positions at the end of the longest video.

From February there's a monthly calendar on the YWA website which is worth a try - though I generally find the calendar sessions a bit more hit and miss rather than structured nicely like the 30 day programmes - they never quite seem to match up to what I want to work on on a given day. I'd recommend going and giving some of the other 30 days a go - Home is my favourite. Personally I've really enjoyed Move so will probably do that one again in February and then try some of the others.

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 21/01/2022 17:38

I tend to do the YWA months over and over again until I feel I’ve got reasonably competent at all the positions, so I’ll do Move again at least once before moving on.

rifling · 21/01/2022 17:41

Really enjoyed Day 18 - partly because I have decided to use blocks to get into downward dog and it no longer hurts!

LizziesTwin · 21/01/2022 18:21

Thanks @UnaOfStormhold, I have done quite a bit of yoga over the last (redacted) years but never logged it on Strava hoping to get a badge before. I’m a terrible sucker for Strava badges.

BalancingStick · 21/01/2022 20:01

I couldn't face it last night. I got home from work late and I was cold, tired and hungry so it just didn't happen. Meant to catch up earlier today but just didn't get round to it (although I did get to the pool for a quick swim!). Was contemplating day 19 but wasn't feeling it... but I forced myself to my mat and im so glad I did! I did days 19 and 20 back to back and feeling so much better for it. It is always worth it so why do I find excuses not to do it. I'm feeling all serene and chilled. Hope I sleep really well tonight now.

namechange5575 · 21/01/2022 20:15

I also really enjoyed day 18, it went quickly! I've managed to drop a day so fx but can manage to double one weekend day. Thus is my first year doing YWA and it's been great. Short but a bit more intense suits me better.

I was just thinking this today…I usually feel like it’s dead easy at the start and builds up, however Day One was a bit of shock after my Christmas laze around, but actually I don’t think it has got progressively harder this year. Not that I particularly mind, am still enjoying it - especially as she has mixed it up a bit with a few new and unusual moves.
namechange5575 · 21/01/2022 20:21

I was also thinking of going straight back into doing it again in February.

What I really fancy is a 30 day body weight / calisthenics program: no impact, no jumping, no weights. Does anyone know of one on YouTube? I was thinking about alternating a month yoga, a month body weight. I've got into doing YWA first thing in the morning and it's great.

CeeCeeDeeBee · 21/01/2022 20:25

I'm definitely going to repeat it in February. I did the same with Breath last year. I really like this year with the shorter but more difficult sessions; when they're too long and waffly I get bored.

Did day 20 just now and really liked it. Even the side plank!
