Who's signed up? I've done these every year since 2016 and I can't wait! Although my health has been poor this year I've managed to practice at home almost every day. I love the kickstart these give my year

Just did Day 11-loved it.

Finding some of the very short ones are leaving me wanting a little more so I did some extra balancing at the end-I am a very fall-y over-y person and always want to work on it.

Boood · 12/01/2022 17:56

I had no idea what half lord of the fishes was, so I googled it, been doing it for years 😂
Just finished day 9, enjoyed it even though I find fire hydrant quite painful especially on the right side.

guinnessguzzler · 12/01/2022 18:33

Yes, didn't know what it was either but it reminds me many of my favourite poses involve twists of some kind.

Day 11 done, my hips weren't too happy with some of it.

Sooverthemill · 12/01/2022 19:24

I didn't know that's what it was called but I love half lord of the fishes

Did day 10 yesterday and didn't love it. My period started, I was a bit achey and all the rolling about on the floor didn't do it for me 😕

Just done day 11. Yet more fire hydrants! However, as I didn't have a stomach ache today I found it all much more satisfying. So perhaps the not liking day 10 was a me thing rather than an Adrienne thing?

I'm hoping there's a more dynamic flow based one tomorrow nevertheless!

plus3 · 12/01/2022 20:18

Caught up with day 9 &10 today - actually quite excited about doing another day tomorrow!
Have always loved the warrior & tree because it feels like proper yoga, but pigeon really makes my hips better.

BalancingStick · 12/01/2022 20:22

I did day 10 yesterday but forgot to update. It felt solid, not my fave so far but a good 30 min session. And pretty much the same today for day 11. I think today was slightly underwhelming as many of the exercises I had already done (or very similar) in a Pilates class this morning.

My favourite postures: Bird of paradise, crow, reverse warrior and of course balancing stick!
Least faves: locust and pigeon (I find both very hard!)

UnaOfStormhold · 12/01/2022 20:31

Day 11 done, nice relaxing session. Does anyone else find cactus arms really difficult? Looks like it should be so simple but my arms just don't want to go there.

cungryhow · 12/01/2022 20:46

I’m not keen on anything cactus arms either, especially lying down as it makes my hands and wrists look and feel a bit gammy. I don’t like supine twist, threading the needle on all fours or kneeling on toes. Will never be able to squat with flat feet or get my heels down in downward dog but that’s just the way I’m put together! Apart from that long list of complaints I am really feeling the benefits !

parrotonmyshoulder · 12/01/2022 20:53

I HATE supine twists! I can’t do them at all and feel really vulnerable and weird. Love the half Lord of fishes pose above - what’s the ‘full’ version?
Haven’t managed to fit in yoga today. will make up with 2 on Saturday.

itssquidstella · 12/01/2022 21:31

I caught up with day 10 today and also managed day 11. Day 10 was fine but I LOVED day 11, especially the shoulder mobility stuff towards the end and the moving through child's pose. I’ve got crunchy hips and shoulders so this felt great!

tootyfruitypickle · 12/01/2022 22:06

Day 11 done. Definitely good for my hips.

I'd like to report that after 18 months of pain, investigations, 3 physios, to no effect, my pain has gone! Who knew it could be so simple! And I was doing my physio runner lunges mid way in the session and I could feel I was much less stiff and sore even deep in my psoas and hip. It's absolutely miraculous. I'm sure it will come back if I have a rest day but just to be so comfortable is bliss.

I'm doing yoga every day for the rest of my life . I think before I always felt I should do more and that put me off but these short sessions are really working for me.

Could never have done before wfh and covid either, I'm there at 10am daily .

guinnessguzzler · 12/01/2022 22:19

That's amazing @tootyfruitypickle I'm hoping to do yoga every day from now on too, it really does make you feel good.

Also, absolutely love a supine twist, just another great twist to add to the list.

Shinyandnew2022 · 12/01/2022 22:54

Wow @tootyfruitypickle this is such a brilliant post !

Day 11 done and again enjoyed it - it flew by !

That is amazing!

I’ve missed 2 days as didn’t have time in
the morning.

I’ll get back on it tomorrow morning.
Whilst I’ve been doing this I’m convinced my mood and posture has been better and I’m rubbish at yoga!

BogRollBOGOF · 13/01/2022 07:17

I like twists and balance.
My body hates bends/ folds. There's very little in it between a fold and half way and if the DCs have done something with my blocks I end up hanging uncomfortably. I now tend to go to chair rather than half bend just for a discernable difference, and I find it a more comfortable stretch.

Finally did day 10 last night. I really enjoyed the pace.
I'll get up and do 11 in a few minutes.

tootyfruitypickle · 13/01/2022 08:22

Yes yoga seems key to help the aches and pains as we age ...!!
It was a running injury , I'm sticking with yoga now !!

Sooverthemill · 13/01/2022 08:25

@tootyfruitypickle that's amazing. I started doing yoga because of shoulder and hip pain and my osteopath recommended it. I was pretty sceptical too but it's made so much difference. I do a session pretty much every day ( so maybe 358 days a year). Even when DD was in hospital the nurses found me a room to practice in or I did it in the loo!

So, I'm so behind. I missed yesterday because DD was too ill overnight for me to manage but I've just done day 10 and I will catch up. I genuinely love doing this even when it's tough I love it.

I like fish pose though am most used to supported fish ( put a block or rolled towel under shoulder blades)!

Redcrayons · 13/01/2022 09:05

@tootyfruitypickle that’s amazing, keep it up.

I’m keeping up with Adriene, though not happy at how weak my arms and shoulders are. I trained for a marathon last year so focussed on legs and hips and I can really feel how little strength I have in the top half. Even just holding my arms up in warrior 2 is hard.

Favourites, I’m a runner so anything on hamstrings, calves and hips feel amazing. Love all the twists.

Not great with the balance poses and don’t enjoy the sitting still and breathing parts. I’m just too fidgety, but I do want to get better at this.

Love/hate the core days

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 13/01/2022 09:15

Enjoyed the last couple of days. I really feel like I’m making some progress with my feeble arms/shoulders!

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 13/01/2022 09:16

I’ve never done Pilates before but am wondering now whether I should move onto a daily Pilates course after this month ends … can anyone who’s done it before comment on how similar this month is to Pilates?

Boood · 13/01/2022 11:08

Simone I’ve never done pilates so can’t comment, but I’ve been cycling through Adriene’s 30 day programmes for nearly five years and haven’t got bored of them- Move is the 8th series, so you’d only be repeating each practice twice in three years. Also if you subscribe to her website, which costs about a tenner a month, you get access to extra content.

CeeCeeDeeBee · 13/01/2022 12:40

I did day 12 just before lunch, after I'd been to bootcamp. Despite the dreaded eagle, I enjoyed it! Definitely feeling stronger and more focused.

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 13/01/2022 12:58

@Boood yeah I know, I’ve done them daily for nearly a year now. This one is quite different in style though and I’m wondering firstly whether it’s more like Pilates and if so, secondly, whether I should give regular Pilates a go to build up my shoulders and arms more.

Sooverthemill · 13/01/2022 13:07

@SimonedeBeauvoirscat I have done both Pilates and yoga and although Adrienne does incorporate some Pilates like movements it's quite different. But also good
