Who's signed up? I've done these every year since 2016 and I can't wait! Although my health has been poor this year I've managed to practice at home almost every day. I love the kickstart these give my year

Did day 8 yesterday and day 9 today so a day behind.

I was in such a bad mood starting day 8 and it totally helped me. Left the mat relaxed and happy (which lasted at least 20 mins before the kids broke my mood again with bickering, ignoring everything I asked them to do etc but hey that's 20 happy minutes I wouldn't have had 😁).

Day 9 was interesting for me as I hated tree pose so much last year as just have zero balance. I still lost balance a few times but it was so much better than before and I quite enjoyed it! It's nice when you get those moments of this is actually working isn't it!
.

Shinyandnew2022 · 11/01/2022 19:13

Day 10 in the bag here . Really really enjoyed that! I am so pleased I have made it to double figures.
I love the way Adriene praises me for getting to the mat.

poorbuthappy · 11/01/2022 19:23

Enjoyed today a lot. Bit perturbed when we led down towards the end and she made us lift our legs up and down. I was like eerrr surely this is the time to relax and reflect!!

Gufo · 11/01/2022 19:35

Day 9 done - found it a bit disjointed and it's my least favourite of the series to date.

Day behind, but only because I went to a real life yoga class yesterday (and fell over in crow Confused). So happy I've done yoga 10 days in a row! Feel good for it, but still don't look like Adriene Wink.

cungryhow · 11/01/2022 19:55

Oops, did day 10 of Home instead of Move, I didn’t enjoy it! Back to move tomorrow!

Boood · 11/01/2022 20:04

What are everyone’s favourite and least favourite poses? Mine are:

Favourite
Child’s pose (obvs), pigeon, standing splits, star, cheerleader (not sure that’s the proper name), boat

Least favourite
Eagle, forearm plank

becca3210 · 11/01/2022 20:05

Day 10 done enjoyed it. Really wasn't feeling like it but felt better for doing it.

Ooh good question!

Favs:
Pigeon, triangle, reverse warrior, forward bend, bridge, squat, sivasana.

Least favs:
Downward dog, boat and anything else that involves an ab crunch type movement, tree. I'm sure there are more but can't think of them. I don't enjoy sun salutations or any other flowing kind of sequences, I prefer the deep stretches..

itssquidstella · 11/01/2022 20:45

I’m going to save day 10 and do it alongside 11 tomorrow instead of going to the gym.

Favourite poses: malasana, child's pose, baddha konasana, triangle, bound side angle (can't do that pregnant, though!), wide-legged forward fold, tree, lizard (even though I can't get my forearms down).

Least favourite poses: pigeon, reverse warrior, chair pose.

Sooverthemill · 11/01/2022 20:58

I love warrior 2, downward dog, pigeon, reclined pigeon, Childs pose, goddess
I dislike the ones I can't do! So where I feel I'm doing it wrong

OP posts:
Weepingwillows12 · 11/01/2022 21:04

I am with sooverthemill. Except downward dog is on my bad list. Anything stretchy or foldy or resty is good. Anything where I am on my arms like downward dog or plank is bad.

tootyfruitypickle · 11/01/2022 21:06

Warrior 2 absolutely kills me! I can't normally stay the duration. Downward dog I can do all day . Think my shoulders are good, legs less so!

tootyfruitypickle · 11/01/2022 21:11

Fav : pigeon. Cobra , lizard . Extended Child's pose. Happy baby.
Hate: warrior, chair pose. I'd rather plank !

bordermidgebite · 11/01/2022 21:17

Happy baby and corpse ( lying down )

rifling · 11/01/2022 21:36

I'm the opposite of this! I have a chronic elbow injury and can't straighten one arm which doesn't help!

parrotonmyshoulder · 11/01/2022 21:45

Favourites: pigeon, lizard, eagle arms, forward folds
Least favourites: cross legged seat, tree, cobra
Growing on me: warrior poses, triangle

clary · 11/01/2022 21:49

oooh least fave pose is eagle, I can't do the arms at all. Am also crap at balance but I quite like them. I just fall. I also cannot lean forward in cobbler's pose at all.

My forward fold and wide legged forward fold have improved no end so I like those. Also like happy baby, pigeon, lizard, warrior of any kind, corpse, child's pose, cross-legged seat.

Jumbojem · 11/01/2022 22:09

I loved day 10 too! Seems like this was popular with a few of us.
Day 9 was not a bit with me. I've done yoga on and off for years but always struggled with tree pose.
I love warrior 2, triangle pose, any of the strong leg ones. My upper body is weak so any that require that I struggle with.

EmmaStone · 11/01/2022 22:55

Just did a day 9, still haven't quite managed day 8. Did my normal yoga class yesterday, and felt stronger in my downward dogs (although we were doing firefly, plus doing mini press ups while in firefly. I was 🔥🔥🔥), and more flexible in my forward folds. The thing I really, really can't do is wide-legged seated positions, and even sitting like that is uncomfortable, without trying to fold forward somehow! Enjoyed tree, it's one of my favourites.

In terms of best and worst, in addition to the above, and PPs, I'd say there's something about crow, even a microsecond holding it makes me feel like some kind of master yogi 😁.

Gufo · 12/01/2022 08:34

I struggle with seated forward folds and wide legged folds - long legs and tight hips means I'm never going to get my head far! (Or so it feels like!)

I'm not good at crow but love the challenge and can even get my legs up for a couple of seconds now. I can't do happy baby properly either.

I love anything hip opener-y, so lizard and pigeon. I really feel the physical benefit, and also like how they make me want to cry as I haven't cried in years so obvs have a lot of pent-up emotion somewhere [woo].

I also like flows - get the heart pumping and feel like I'm working hard. I need to get better at the more breathing-focused meditation type practices as my mind is usually spinning and thinking they are a waste of time. I enjoyed Day 8, so maybe that's starting to change.

UnaOfStormhold · 12/01/2022 08:50

I really like the "close your eyes and enjoy falling out of tree" bit of day 9 - so playful! I was pretty tired for day 10 after a fairly intense run so found it a bit hard going - I was really hoping for a relaxation rather than more core work when we finally got to lie down.

Favourites - pigeon, warrior 1 and 2 and lunges, cartwheeling down from warrior 2 into opposite side stretch. Forward folds. Balances like dancer and tree. Shoulder stand. I really like that I can now do savasana properly as I used to find it really uncomfortable for my lower back (due to tight hip flexors and a tendency to overarch the lower back during the preceding practice).
Least favourites - Cow legs (just does not work at all for my body!). Cobra, bow and anything that involves curving lower back as above. I don't mind wide legged poses but I really don't have the hip flexibility to do them well.

I do enjoy that I'm inching closer to managing crow - as EmmaStone said above even a microsecond of being in balance does feel like being a master yogi, having progressed from not being able to get anywhere near. Firefly looks absolutely impossible though! Like others upthread my legs are definitely much stronger than my arms so arm balances are a bit of a challenge. But I'm doing quite a lot of arm work (climbing, strength training and yoga) so gradually improving...

Sooverthemill · 12/01/2022 09:39

Ah you see I love chair pose too! I didn't used to be now I just feel like, a proper yogi because I can do it. I absolutely love doing daily yoga because I improve incrementally

But today I have missed my yoga session because I had to be with my very sick DD ( she is bedbound but is extra sick) . Sad but maybe tomorrow I can do both sessions

OP posts:
CeeCeeDeeBee · 12/01/2022 09:50

I love: lizard, pigeon, anything wide-legged, warrior 1 & 2, reclined twist

I hate: tree, crow, eagle

Waiting for day 11 to land!

RagzReturnedUnwrapped · 12/01/2022 10:33
@RagzReturnedUnwrapped that's so interesting about the strange
sensation I think I might get that too!
The first time it happened I felt like some
Of my innards were in the wrong place - under my right rib cage normally - does that sound the same ?
Yeah, that's it! I think it's something to do with cartilage, but not sure. I did Google it and weirdly mumsnet had a few threads about it.

Didn't do day 10 last night, awful period pain and fell asleep cuddling hot water bottle instead. I did it this morning though. Some tough bits, but managed it all.

arootintootingoodtime · 12/01/2022 10:44

Well, I just did Day 8 last night. DH had wound me up talking about work just before bed, so this was the first day I didn't fall asleep before midnight after doing it (chronic insomniac here!), but I can't blame Adriene for that. I think I might do Day 8 again in combination with Saturday's, when I have a bit more time, to get the most out of it.

Favourite poses are pigeon, cobra, warrior 2 (just feels very yoga-y Grin ), peaceful warrior and child's pose. Least favourite tree, and (I had to look up the name of this and it's a weird one ...) half lord of the fishes part I because I would always get corrected on it in class and fish pose, which I just find really painful.
