Who's signed up? I've done these every year since 2016 and I can't wait! Although my health has been poor this year I've managed to practice at home almost every day. I love the kickstart these give my year

@cungryhow

Not a great day 9 for me, fire hydrant leg very uncomfortable and I find the pulsing quite difficult to do with any sense of grace or ease. My balance was rubbish today too. Roll on tomorrow!
Yeah I was wobbling my leg around and feeling ridiculously ungraceful. I jaut laughed at myself and decided it was part of the fun. I'm not great at knowing what my body is doing without a mirror for feedback, I had to keep looking back at my leg to see if my knee wat at hip level.

Doing the wide leg forward bend, I got a wierd sensation below my left rib, like something was popping out. I get it sometimes if I bend too far sideways, it's very disconcerting. I did Google it once and it's not uncommon, apparently. Felt horrible though! Probably should not have been trying to get my forearms on the floor...

Redcrayons · 10/01/2022 21:46

Also a bit meh on day 9.

My leggings were too shiny to get into tree pose, my foot kept slipping down. I can certainly do the falling over she talked about.

Shinyandnew2022 · 10/01/2022 21:59

@RagzReturnedUnwrapped that's so interesting about the strange
sensation I think I might get that too!
The first time it happened I felt like some
Of my innards were in the wrong place - under my right rib cage normally - does that sound the same ?

Languidleopard · 10/01/2022 22:23

Completed day 8 yesterday. I had a run earlier in the day and was feeling a bit sore, so this one was nicely timed.

I made a huge pot of chilli, settled down to do the practice and then cuddled up on the sofa with Dd to eat and watch TV. It was a struggle to stay awake tbh 😁 Alternate nostril breathing always makes me super relaxed, not sure why.

Today I was back in the office, so having a short one for day 9 also worked for me. I squeezed it in between getting home from work and cooking dinner. I struggled a bit with the pulsing and fire hydrant moves but enjoyed tree pose. My balance is definitely improving, little by little.

Another one here who practices in pyjamas, but with a bra on.

Feeling very 😇 that I've made it to day 10. Thanks everyone for the supportive vibes!

BalancingStick · 10/01/2022 22:54

Day 9 was short and sweet I thought. I squeezed it in the middle of my working day which I think was a mistake as I felt distracted. My shiny leggings were a bad move - I could hold tree on my 'good' side but the other side was just too slippy. Looking forward to day 10 - will revert to my evening practice.

Twasacceptableinthe80s · 11/01/2022 07:28

I actually loved day 9. It’s when I attempt tree or yogic squats (pretty poorly) that I feel like I am doing ‘proper’ yoga (whatever that means as Adrienne might say 😂)

guinnessguzzler · 11/01/2022 07:49

Yes, agree, I love doing tree pose although my favourite is warrior two, which just makes me feel calmly strong.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 11/01/2022 08:35

Catching up on this and thinking where was the tree pose yesterday - I’ve only gone and done the wrong one Blush so am now a day behind - how annoying. I’m not fit enough to do two in a day so will now be behind until the end.

Redcrayons · 11/01/2022 08:53

@Martinisarebetterdirty I’m sure there will be another easy day so you can double up at some point.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 11/01/2022 09:17

I love your optimism @Redcrayons Grin!

Sooverthemill · 11/01/2022 09:18

I liked day 9. The pulsing is always tricky for me but I did it and I LOVE the arms flow. I often do that while waiting for the microwave to ping ( sad, I know).

@Boood that's such a shame. At no point should your neck have been rigid though, Adrienne emphasised that I think. It's in incredibly diff to get the hang of it but I try to smile while I'm doing those kind of moves in an effort to relax my neck. You could try that?
@rifling for plank to downward dog I start in plank obviously and then push my bum in the air as if I'm trying to pass my bum/hips over something. It took a while to get the hang of that . So it's like a wave and yes adjust your hands, she does it all the time!

Boood · 11/01/2022 09:26

I couldn’t find a way of relaxing my neck without letting it hang right back, which I suspect would have been even worse. Never mind, that one just wasn’t for me. I did day 7 this morning, and that was much better. Although the flappy feet bit at the end was surprisingly difficult. I might go straight on and do day 8 after work tonight if it’s all lying down. Has anyone noticed Adriene’s code?

“Some people find this challenging” = lying down with your eyes shut

“Really yummy stretches” = you’ll get about a quarter of the way into it and it’ll hurt.

tootyfruitypickle · 11/01/2022 11:08

Day 10 done, back to the adriene sessions I enjoy ! Was a good one and I feel really great now .

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 11/01/2022 11:28

@tootyfruitypickle I just finished 10 as well and agree-it was a good one.

Although I got a fright at the reflection of me doing yoga in the television screen- I def did not look like Adrienne and had no idea my elbows were not straight Shock

@Boood Sorry, bold fail, but you get the idea, your comment above really made me chuckle.

CeibaTree · 11/01/2022 12:23

I woke up in a really crappy feeling-sorry-for-myself-for-no-reason mood this morning, and I reluctantly got out my yoga mat thinking I might as well get today's session over with. And to my surprise session 10 completely shifted my mood, and did in fact 'uplift' me :)

CeeCeeDeeBee · 11/01/2022 13:51

Day 9 yesterday: I hate hate hate tree pose. Always feel so ungainly!

Day 10 today: did it straight after a gym class and felt good, pretty flexible, and I enjoyed the flow.

guinnessguzzler · 11/01/2022 14:47

Funny, I've just done Day 10 and found it hard going, but I think I really need to strengthen my arms. I'm impressed by all those fitting this in around gym, running etc, atm this is as much as I can manage!

rifling · 11/01/2022 14:53

I like the tree pose but my foot always slips. I am always amazed at some of things she says can be tricky (squatting) that I find really easy and some positions which she says are restful (tabletop) which are so painful and difficult for me.

Sooverthemill · 11/01/2022 14:58

@rifling I know! All bodies are so different. I like that she does very often acknowledge that and offer adjustments. I like tree but can only do it on my calf. And yes my foot slips but I do it in my PJs.

OP posts:
Boood · 11/01/2022 15:05

guinnessguzzler Grin

I can only do tree pose if I hook my foot on my calf or knee, I can’t just keep it there on a straight bit of leg. And it helps not to wear shiny leggings.

BogRollBOGOF · 11/01/2022 16:20

I was glad that yesterday I started with a random video (fill your cup) and saved Day 8 for bedtime, although I did open my eyes at the end music wondering if I'd missed much Grin

Day 9 this morning. It was a good one for starting the day. I like Tree and tend to find Adriene a bit light on balance work. Having the flexibility of a house brick (there is no difference in my standing and half forward bends and that's with knees bent) it's nice to do some balance for a change.

I didn't fell my tree... the room is narrow and that fireplace has form for splitting eyebrows...

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 11/01/2022 17:07

Yesterday got away from me somewhat so I missed day 9. Just done it along with day 10, both fine. Nice to start to get more variation than the first few days which I found repetitive.

parrotonmyshoulder · 11/01/2022 18:11

I quite enjoyed Day 10. Needed the rest pose at the end though.
