Who's signed up? I've done these every year since 2016 and I can't wait! Although my health has been poor this year I've managed to practice at home almost every day. I love the kickstart these give my year

@cungryhow

Day 4 enjoyed the break with the breath work and normally that’s my least favourite part!
Same here - I wouldn't have expected to like the breath part but I really enjoyed it. Absolutely loving this so far (my abs are certainly feeling it!)
BobbinThreadbare123 · 05/01/2022 20:49

Day 4 done. Not very good at the breath stuff but I never have been. I was feeling really chilly before I started and now I'm nice and warm!

Talisin · 05/01/2022 20:49

Thanks @parrotonmyshoulder - I have been considering doing the lower back one actually just to keep up the practise.

becca3210 · 05/01/2022 20:50

Enjoyed day 4. I am not great with the transitions but hopefully this will improve. Finding the breath work quite relaxing

Cherrypi · 05/01/2022 21:15

Day 4 for me, even felt the cow today. Can anyone recommend a yoga mat as my tk maxx one is starting to disintegrate after many years use? Thanks.

RagzReturnedUnwrapped · 05/01/2022 21:42

Managed day 4 just now, despite very nearly crying off as I've been tired and grumpy/sad today. Wasn't until I checked my Clue app mid afternoon that I realised it's PMT! Anyway, decided to go for it and do feel better now. Flow was nice, I prefer it to holding poses with my loose joints! I never seem to have my feet or hands in quite the right place but noticed Adriene also adjusts slightly, so I didn't feel too bad.
Like PPs I struggle with the breathe parts, I've never found my breath flows in a natural way when I focus on it, but the added arms up and down and being told to make the breathing noisy really helped.

I've started YWA twice in the past and this is the longest I have kept it up for!

guinnessguzzler · 05/01/2022 21:45

Well done! I was hesitating today after my first day back at work so equally proud of getting on the mat.

The last bit with the legs was hard for me!

AHobbyaweek · 05/01/2022 21:48

Noticed I have started to get a red mark at the bottom of my palm just above the wrist crease. It is tender too. Must be the downward dogs and wrists bit. Any tips or am I just not quite in the right position.

CeeCeeDeeBee · 05/01/2022 22:09

Left today's until evening and regretted it. I find it so much harder at the end of the day!

Done, though. Bring on tomorrow.

Have also noticed my mat is really slippy and am craving a liforme mat. Can't justify it right now, though!

LizziesTwin · 05/01/2022 22:10

My LifeForme is slippy now - not sure how to revive it.

dairyfarmerswife · 05/01/2022 22:11

Day four done. It was a lot faster, it took a bit of keeping up with in places - I guess that's the flow bit Grin
She used a flow terms I didn't know tonight, the part between the downward dog and the cobra. On the plus side I seem to be getting slightly better at getting my leg forward to the lunge tho it's still a bit ungainly.

A few terms...
Jumbojem · 05/01/2022 22:15

Really enjoyed Day 4s flow, I didn't realise I enjoyed flow so much.
I'm with however it was that said about having to concentrate on left and rights, I def getting it wrong at some points. Reminds me of when I used to go to classes and be doing the poses the opposite way to everyone else.
Also, lots of fanny farts for me today, no idea why but another reason I don't go to in person classes any longerBlush. Please tell me I'm not alone!

Was it the bit where she says chaturanga (sp?) to up dog? I think she did a bit of a brief demo / explanation if you are able to re-watch that part.
guinnessguzzler · 05/01/2022 22:36

@Jumbojem Grin There are definitely some benefits to at home yoga!

Redcrayons · 05/01/2022 22:54

Day 4 done. It was quite fast and I got a but lost at times.

I’ve seen some comments on a YWA FB page that this series is harder than the usual 30 days, which I would have to agree with. I’m not sure I could keep up if I’d never done it before and i didn’t know the terms she uses.

6 pack day tomorrow and then hopefully an easy one.

I did the same and did not really enjoy the flow, it would have been better to do this one in the morning. Oh well, at least we fitted it into the day in the end :)
dairyfarmerswife · 05/01/2022 23:00

Yes, that bit. Maybe she did explain, I'll have to rewatch. It all seemed a lot faster tonight!

Oops that was in reply to @guinnessguzzler Blush
Octopuscrazy · 06/01/2022 00:54

I'm jumping on to say I just did day 1 - late to the party I know- hopefully can stick with it. I found the breathing parts boring but maybe will come to appreciate the stillness and calm with practice.

Jedstre · 06/01/2022 08:43

Keeping up and did day 4 last night. The pace has certainly picked up. Maybe it’s just me but I hate it when she does the heavy breathing. Her microphone must be on her chest and it just sounds so loud and then she suddenly starts talking and then finishes a breath. It was really winding me up yesterday. Will try to zone out of it but it really put me off.

UnaOfStormhold · 06/01/2022 08:57

@Sooverthemill

I wouldn't worry about chaturanga if you've not come across it before, it's quite a tricky move to do properly requiring a fair bit of arm and core strength, so probably not one to do for the first time in the middle of a flow. You can just go down to lying flat and then lift into cobra or up dog. If you do want to find out more about chaturanga (or indeed any specific pose) she has a series of videos on specific poses which are really good for understanding in more depth what you need to do and what modifications are possible. yogawithadriene.com/free-yoga-videos/foundations-of-yoga/

EmmaStone · 06/01/2022 09:41

Day 4 done this morning after a 30min spin. Am definitely feeling creaky - the first 15 mins I found really tough, but then the last 15 mins were fine - I guess when my body had loosened up (although I'd have thought the spin would have got me warm enough - hey ho). My arms are really feeling it - I've not done any arm work for quite a few weeks (so I should probably bust the weights out...).

I mentioned to my yoga teacher about my mat losing stickiness. Her response - 'it'll be better for you to have it less sticky' - ie, you'll be working harder to maintain balance/stability. Fab. Grin

NoMoreTractors · 06/01/2022 09:48

Day 2 done early this morning. I don't think I'd given my body chance to wake up as I really struggled. To the poster asking about mats, I do have a liforme which really is amazing but I bought a yoga matters sticky mat for my DS and was surprised how good that is for the price.

guinnessguzzler · 06/01/2022 10:02

@UnaOfStormhold That's really helpful, thanks for sharing that.

Off to do Day 5 now!
