Who is going to do Adriene’s 30 day programme January 2021?

I’ve done the last few years and try to do a video most days throughout the year. I like the structure of the 30 days. I think my favourite was Home as the length (short) of the videos suited what I had time for. Looking forward to seeing what’s to come.

I enjoyed today’s (apart from the hovering tables!). I needed a relaxing one today!

Day 4 done, how lovely to be mostly on the back today. Suddenly thrown into home schooling today so couldn't practise earlier. Very grateful for this session. Perfect length for me today too.

Hollybutnoivy · 05/01/2021 20:26

Does anyone have trouble with muscles cramping? Any way round it? I have to keep stopping and restarting.

niceupthedance · 05/01/2021 20:26

Hovering table was worse than all the planks!

speakout · 05/01/2021 20:27

Hollybutnoivy

I do with my feet and calves- if they are cold.
I often do yoga with 1970s style ankle warmers or yoga socks.

Hollybutnoivy · 05/01/2021 20:33

Thanks but I seem to get them everywhere - even in my eyebrows! Today I got shoulder cramps when I put my arms over my head. Confused

gardenwoe · 05/01/2021 20:33

Ok why does one groin/pelvis crack when doing the leg extensions on my back?? It's so disconcerting and uncomfortable, I had to stop doing them. Can anyone help me to stop this?

HensInTheSkirtingBoard · 05/01/2021 20:41

Oh, and I meant to say, stepping through to lunge is notoriously hard and can take literally years to do with any sort of grace. Some people will never be able to do it, simply due to their individual anatomy. I'm now at the point where I can do it most of the time, but only if I'm well warmed up and it's still not very pretty! And some days I just have to grab my shin and move my damn leg myself Grin

Sooverthemill · 05/01/2021 21:01

Day 6 is never that bad honest and days 7 and 8 make up for it.

Ietthemeatcake · 05/01/2021 21:13

I've been doing it every day before work, didn't help that my DH is now also WFH now and decided to come in and start working whilst I was half way through today's session 🙄
I found my ribs were quite sore from the planks after day 2.
Today was a bit slow for me, I get impatient for the flow to start and I don't like those wrist stretches but I'll stick with it.

EmmaStone · 05/01/2021 21:49

Make sure you're well hydrated for cramps - are you drinking enough (in general - drinking during the yoga won't be enough)?

EssentiallyDelighted · 05/01/2021 22:31

I sometimes get cramp in my feet, usually in face down poses where they are completely extended, I just have to keep wiggling them.

Superspecs · 05/01/2021 22:38

Day 4 was good, it's great that we're well on our way to being able to do the splits Confused ! I did it in the eve but I'm wfh tomorrow so hoping to get on the mat first thing.

drspouse · 05/01/2021 23:03

I get cramp in my feet too, must try and stay hydrated.

Talisin · 05/01/2021 23:21

Still a day behind as my plans to do a second session last night were scuppered by Boris and the subsequent work whatsapp back and forth. Anyway, this was Day 3 for me and despite my initial distraction from Adriene wearing lipstick, I really enjoyed the first 10 mins, less so the middle section but that was because I was really tired. I liked the breathing but every time I hung upside down I had to start breathing through my mouth as my nose immediately got blocked.

I get the foot cramp as well - at the moment it’s largely related to my feet being cold so I’ve started wearing socks, but that means I can’t slide my feet at all so it all gets a bit clompy.

I will do day 4 tomorrow morning and day 5 in the evening (unless our glorious leader drops something else on us) so will be all caught up in time for the dreaded day 6 on Thursday.

Taswama · 06/01/2021 07:28

High five everyone!
Discovered some new muscles this morning! I do love how every day is different.

EssentiallyDelighted · 06/01/2021 07:50

I tend to start out in socks but they make me lose grip in downward dog or standing postures with wide legs, once they're off I don't tend to put them on again.

Hollybutnoivy · 06/01/2021 08:32

Make sure you're well hydrated for cramps
Thanks for the reminder. I had 2 glasses of water and 2 cups of coffee yesterday- probably not enough!

Oh, and I meant to say, stepping through to lunge is notoriously hard
That's good to know. My left leg is fine but my right leg just gets stuck halfway!

Skade · 06/01/2021 08:38

@Sooverthemill

I've done her January 30 days for 6 years running and definitely doing this one The calendar showing length is here to help people plan the days
Thank you Sooverthemill for the calendar - I did Day 1 on Monday but it was 48 minutes long and I gave up after that thinking there was no way I was going to fit it in every day before work! Now I've seen the calendar I can see that the rest are under half an hour so much more manageable.
Sooverthemill · 06/01/2021 09:05

@Skade you're welcome. I need to know too as DH WFH in same room I use for yoga and to warn DD how long to wait if she can.
@Talisin me too! I prefer her makeup free..
Day 5 was fab. But I did it almost as soon as I woke up which was a bit tough, usually I have half an hour wake up time. None of it is 'difficult' yoga but I'm surprised how fast we are getting into forearm planks, hovering table etc. I confess I love doing it when only 5k others have. By the time I repeat the challenge in June it will be in the millions!

drspouse · 06/01/2021 09:16

Day 4 done! If I do try to catch up it will be on a Friday which is my day off. But this week I think I'll go for a bike ride, ice permitting.

itssquidstella · 06/01/2021 09:21

@Sooverthemill I did day 5 first thing too! It was a good wake up call and I enjoyed/hated utkatasana - it's my least-favourite pose but it really makes me focus on my posture and breathing so I know it's doing me good 😌

EmmaStone · 06/01/2021 10:33

Morning! I did Day 5 before work again, by the end there had been 7k views, must concentrate more tomorrow on how many when I start and end to see how many were doing it with me :)

Got moving quicker today which I preferred, but I'm definitely not a morning exercise person, my muscles are so tight, and I really huff and puff my way through.

Hoping my forward folds get a bit deeper soon as my hamstrings loosen up...

Enb76 · 06/01/2021 15:45

I did Day 5 before starting work. Another poster said to refresh the viewings once you completed the session so I did so and discovered that around 2300 people were doing the session while I was. That was a really nice feeling for some reason.

Um, I've started another 30 day thing as well but it's more workout than yoga (Lucy Lismore). I think I'm just trying to keep warm as it's a bit nippy out.

Redcrayons · 06/01/2021 15:54

What time do the videos go live? I was up at 6 this morning specially to do it before work and it wasn’t there.

Hope it’s gentle as it’s going to have to be a bedtime special
