Who is going to do Adriene’s 30 day programme January 2021?

I’ve done the last few years and try to do a video most days throughout the year. I like the structure of the 30 days. I think my favourite was Home as the length (short) of the videos suited what I had time for. Looking forward to seeing what’s to come.

I go to Adriene if I want a gentle practice , and agree that Five Parks is good if you want less chat. I can also recommend Kassandra, I think she's my favourite. She did a 30 day, 10 minute morning yoga during lockdown, which was good. If you're fairly experienced, she also does a few 'minimal cues' videos where she just names the poses as you go in and out of them, with no other chat, which I really like (though some are a bit TOO fast for me 😲).

Hollybutnoivy · 02/01/2021 12:12

I found downward dog almost impossible. In fact, the whole thing was more challenging than I expected but I got through it.

itssquidstella · 02/01/2021 12:14

Oh I love Five Parks Yoga, especially her deep stretch videos. It's nice to have a daily reason to practise, though, which is why I’ve signed up for Breath.

Midnightstar76 · 02/01/2021 12:16

I’m in. Was looking for her new programme yesterday so did the first of Home instead. Going to do her new one later on. Did not listen to her five minute intro.

bimbimbap · 02/01/2021 12:19

@parrotonmyshoulder yep yesterday’s “reset” seemed appropriate for the new year! my fortune cookie with last night’s takeaway said “be invited” - spooky! Grin

Sooverthemill · 02/01/2021 12:24

@bluebellation I love kassandra. I found her a few months ago and often add one of her 10 minor Yin sessions to my daily practice. Also she has a good cat

Indiaplain · 02/01/2021 12:27

I also like Kassandra @bluebellation- I find her videos just the right amount of challenging, and her 10 minute morning ones are so varied.

bluebellation · 02/01/2021 13:30

Yay, glad I'm not the only Kassandra fan. I also like her 'hands free' ones, that don't have any downward dog or plank in. Just gives the wrists a rest, but is also obviously a good workout for the legs.

I must look her up. I struggle with my arthritic wrists sometimes.
HensInTheSkirtingBoard · 02/01/2021 14:07

Day 1 done - managed to tune out some of the chat and try to focus on the breath. Didn't much enjoy the wrist circling but apart from that it was a lovely, gentle intro to the month Smile

Onthebrink67 · 02/01/2021 15:03

Day 1 done. Found the wrist twisting really hard but I have problems with my wrists and generally a bit tougher than I expected for day 1. Could have fallen asleep in the relaxation at the end and did enjoy it. Makes me realise how unfit I’ve become being at home

wintersdawn · 02/01/2021 15:48

Just tried to do day 1 having put on more weight than ever this year and wow yoga with a stomach is hard. Makes it so uncomfortable to hold some of the poses. Think the scales need to be lower before I try again

HerBigChance · 02/01/2021 16:33

I enjoyed it, even the chatting. The wrist thing was hard.

I did prefer Adriene's previous studio though, something more comforting about it.

poorbuthappy · 02/01/2021 17:02

Just done it. If I'd breathed any slowly I'd have passed out.
Went ok until a child let the bloody dog into the room whilst I was corpsing. Think I was almost asleep when he came and sat on me. Shock

EmmaStone · 02/01/2021 18:00

@poorbuthappy 😂😂

Just done Day 1, went quicker than I thought it would. I always find exercise of any type harder when I'm not sure what's coming next. If I know I need to hold a plank for 45 seconds, I just get on with it, but going into a plank for who knows how long (even if only 3 breaths!), and I'm shaking almost immediately. My yoga teacher usually shows us what to do before we do it (and talks us through the moves while we're doing it), which is less difficult somehow.

ExpensivelyDecorated · 02/01/2021 18:17

Hi, joining for the first time. I have been going to class (mostly by zoom) twice a week for the last couple of years but my teacher is now taking a sabbatical. I did day 1 today. I don't mind that level of chat, however I found it a bit long for a daily practice - I could do without the relaxation at the end, so might skip that next time. I was expecting it to be at a slightly lower level with perhaps more modifications for people with injuries etc, going straight to planks on day 1 seemed a little ambitious (I have a condition which means I don't plank but I do know how and when to modify). Everything else was fine though.

TessApricot · 02/01/2021 19:07

It was a bit too long for me too - I’d struggle to fit it in on a work day but looking ahead most of them are shorter.

parrotonmyshoulder · 02/01/2021 20:13

I found it a bit long as well and had only given myself 35 spare minutes, so I skipped the first 7 minutes and cut short the end!
Loved the wrist thing. I liked not knowing
what was coming next - I’m used to doing the same 10ish videos over again.

Another one clocking in to say Day 1 complete. I absolutely hated the backwards hand thing near the start - I have put on weight over lockdown and had horribly uncomfortable tricep flaps when dong that. I also found the sensation really strange and unpleasant - not at all a nice positive stretch. If that had been my first experience of Adriene, I'd have abandonned it.

Much like everyone else, I was surprised at the intensity of the planks so early. Overall though, it felt much quicker than the 40-something minutes and I did enjoy it. But it definitely wasn't as engaging as last year and would have been very daunting to a complete novice.

I know it's called Breath but I hope there won't be too much of the breathing without the stretches too.

Roll on tomorrow.

ExpensivelyDecorated · 02/01/2021 21:02

I liked the wrists thing, I hold a lot of tension in my arms and shoulders and they really benefit from some deep stretches. We do a similar stretch in my regular classes so it wasn't totally new.

speakout · 02/01/2021 21:46

Bit dull TBH and far too long if she is hoping to attract and keep new viewers.
Too much waffle and not enough yoga.
I love kassandra too- but have Boho Beautiful lined up for tomorrow if Adriene's is another long session. Boho is doing a similar 14 day new year course, but shorter and harder.
I can't spare an hour every morning.

KittyMcKitty · 02/01/2021 21:52

I love Adriene even the waffle Smile I do Ashtanga irl so like her as a contrast.

Has she moved house or did they go somewhere else to film?

thisislovelyme · 02/01/2021 22:00

Day 1 done. Wrists stretch was lovely for me as prone to ganglion cysts. Delightful I know. Slightly waffly but I enjoyed the breathing. Thought at first it was going to be too easy but then couldn't keep up and was shaking in plank! Clearly I need this. Why was she giggling so much during wrist massage? New studio very flash.

itssquidstella · 02/01/2021 22:08

@thisislovelyme I think she realised what she'd said (about doing it to yourself in bed) could come across as a double entendre...Made me laugh as she's normally squeaky clean!

Hahaha yes of course! Missed that. Busy massaging wrists!
