Who is going to do Adriene’s 30 day programme January 2021?

I’ve done the last few years and try to do a video most days throughout the year. I like the structure of the 30 days. I think my favourite was Home as the length (short) of the videos suited what I had time for. Looking forward to seeing what’s to come.

Day 2 complete. Tough! But enjoyable

Onthebrink67 · 03/01/2021 17:16

Day 2 complete. Found it quite tough but enjoyed the relaxed end

beautyboxaddict · 03/01/2021 17:22

Day 2 done! Didn’t manage everything as my left hip is playing up a bit after yesterday but did what I could and feel better for it. I’ve intended to complete the 30 days every January for years and never managed to get past day 5 so I’m hoping I manage to go all the way this time

Taswama · 03/01/2021 17:33

Day two done. I found that long plank too hard, couldn't keep it up for another 30 seconds. Glad the first two days have fallen on non working days this year as they are the longest. After this they are a bit shorter.

niceupthedance · 03/01/2021 18:18

Hello I'm a late arrival (oops) just did day 2 enjoyed the yin aspects of it and found the plank just a little too long... I've never done a 30 days but have done Adriene's videos about 3 times a week this year, I don't want to be too challenged so I hope there aren't a lot of long classes in Breath .

crimsonlake · 03/01/2021 18:21

I have just completed day 1 of Breath and yes I agree too much waffle which I was finding irritating.
I was about to give up half way through as I was finding it too long but decided to get back in to it which I was glad I did in the end.
I could not sit upright and crosslegged for the many minutes she ws talking...I struggle following the sequences on my laptop and have to keep stopping and move the screen around.
Today I put her on the tv which was a bit better but I never seem to be able to get in to a good position in the living room. My mat keeps moving around and never seems large enough. I might have to give up.

ExpensivelyDecorated · 03/01/2021 18:37

The screen thing is tricky, I've been doing live classes by zoom through last year and tried laptops and my phone in lots of positions in various rooms plus the garden, none are perfect but at least you can move them easily. I've been casting these to the TV from my phone which is a much bigger screen and saves me getting the laptop booted up but I have to have the mat end on towards the telly which isn't great for inverted postures. Might go back to the laptop somewhere else tomorrow.

Redcrayons · 03/01/2021 19:12

It’s difficult with the screens. When I first started I had to keep stopping and starting to watch what she was doing.

Now I’ve been doing it a bit longer I sort of know what she means so can anticipate it a bit more.

Keep going there’s always the option to take a break or make it a bit easier.

speakout · 03/01/2021 19:33

Some of the videos with minimal cues are actually better, just an instruction to move into a pose,

ExpensivelyDecorated · 03/01/2021 19:49

The other problem I have at home (as opposed to as in a studio) is that I start noticing how dusty the telly is, or that there are some things needing putting away. Definitely need to focus on the breath not the surroundings

parrotonmyshoulder · 03/01/2021 20:06

I enjoyed Day 2 (but started about 7 minutes in!). I was pleased to manage the planks, although struggled a lot after she uttered the words ‘30 seconds’!

Day 2 done. I enjoyed it. Although my hips are a bit stiff and sore at the moment so I found the crossed-legged beginning quite uncomfortable even sitting on my block.

I felt strong in the plank to begin with but it was just a bit too long to hold it for me in the end.

I was thinking that about the telly yesterday! Cleaned it today lol.

I like the chat tho, makes sure you focus and stay still and concentrate on breathing - this is what I need.

Those who are struggling, please keep going. Make your plank a half-plank or modify in some other way. I can't get close to Crow and that's fine 😀

EmmaStone · 03/01/2021 21:11

Day 2 done this evening (with a background noise of DS playing a very animated game of Fortnite with his mates online 🙄). Adrienne is so lovely, but she takes so long to explain poses, it makes holding them while she explains it tricky! I didn't manage the plank for the whole time, did some mountain climbers, and a quick bob to my knees.

Re: wrist pain, it should get better within a few days of practice, but definitely note her counter poses for wrists and make sure you're doing them, they really help (and going up on fists for example in planks can help). And for downward dog, I still struggle holding it at the beginning of a class (been yogaing for about 5 years), but can sometimes hit a sweet spot, where my arms are about in line with or behind my ears, it feels a little bit hyper mobile (which may be a bad thing...).

Anyway, as with wrists, it does get better the more you do, and strength improves very quickly. Don't be disheartened 😀

ExpensivelyDecorated · 03/01/2021 21:22

I'm not sure what my plank modification is called, you get into the tabletop position (all fours) then lift your knees off the ground a couple of inches. I did the full one by mistake today (she talked us into the position before I realised it was a plank) and it was actually ok but I have prolapses and planks can be too much pressure on the pelvic floor for me so I tend to avoid.

drspouse · 03/01/2021 21:27

Half plank.

Superspecs · 03/01/2021 23:40

Hi all, glad I've found you, there seems to be a few YWA threads this year. I've done day 1 and 2. I found 1 a bit slow and 2 was too waffley to start but then picked up pace! I was shaking in the last plank and was glad of the floor work at the end! This evening one foot is very sore, a but like plantar fascitis but right into my heel too, I hope it doesn't effect my yoga-ing tomorrow as I really enjoy these dedicated months, I never manage every day through the rest of the year- I guess I like the accompanying Mumsnet threads and the idea of people all over the world doing the same practice on the same day!

I also find myself distracted and picking fluff off the carpet @expensivelydecorated. I'm not sure what the solution is to that!

I find it generally fine that I can't see what she's doing as I know from the explanation, but I noticed today I could see the computer screen in my wall mirror when facing the other way, so that might be helpful for some!

DateLoaf · 03/01/2021 23:52

This thread is inspiring me to do some yoga, thank you.

Talisin · 04/01/2021 00:32

Managed to get day 1 done just before midnight so officially only running one day late! I was rather off-put by the length as I’m way out of practice (dodgy achilles plus sheer laziness) but it really didn’t feel like almost 50 mins. I suspect my wrists will ache tomorrow after the twisty thing but I do feel a release in tension in my arms and the sort of floaty good-feeling vibes you get when you’re in the zone.

I really want to get through the whole thirty days in roughly that timeframe this year - something I’ve only managed once before - and have signed up for Adriene’s paid content to incentivized me a bit. This has the side benefit of accessing the videos through the fwfg app on my Fire Stick which is somewhat less clunky than youtube via the TV.

Sooverthemill · 04/01/2021 08:59

Loved day 3.

Redcrayons · 04/01/2021 09:04

Day 3 done. That woman loves to plank.

drspouse · 04/01/2021 09:19

Day 2, done this morning as no school run Confused. May need to do further days in the evening.

Danu2021 · 04/01/2021 09:22

I find hers so long! I'm doing Sean Vigue's beginner yoga, I''ll be doing day 4 today. They're only 16 minutes long. I like that.

drspouse · 04/01/2021 09:23

The later ones this month are shorter and I like some long days when I can.

speakout · 04/01/2021 09:43

drspouse

How do you know the later ones are shorter? Have they all been released somewhere?
