Who is going to do Adriene’s 30 day programme January 2021?

I’ve done the last few years and try to do a video most days throughout the year. I like the structure of the 30 days. I think my favourite was Home as the length (short) of the videos suited what I had time for. Looking forward to seeing what’s to come.

@Sunnydaysarethebestdays

Is the one starting today BREATH? I’ve just watched about 5 mins talking and she said it starts tomorrow. Sorry to sound dim but I’ve never done it before but want to start somewhere.
Yes she starts with a five min chat in case you've not done one before. Tomorrows will be the first practice. Nice long one to start for a Saturday morning 😀

I’m going to do ‘heart and head reset’ today instead of Day 0.

Just checking in, waves to @Sooverthemill @sycamore54321 and others from mumsnet Home threads last year.

Generally I find the pace is about right for me as I do lots of running so am not looking for my yoga to challenge me aerobically, just give me plenty of time to stretch plus build a bit of strength. Which reminds me, must make sure I avoid scheduling a long run for day 6!

SugarSurfing · 01/01/2021 16:06

I'm in! Started yoga in lockdown - trying to do one session a day - all YWA. Have done all the previous 30 day challenges now and looking forward to Breath!

HensInTheSkirtingBoard · 01/01/2021 16:35

Yes, I'm in. I like Adriene although agree about the waffle, so I tend to use Down Dog app more than her YT videos.

However I start yoga teacher training later this year and without the discipline of a studio I need something to keep me accountable to a daily practice! As she said, some days just getting on the mat is the hardest part.

It will be nice to have a thread alongside to chat yoga stuff on Smile

Taswama · 01/01/2021 17:04

I'm in. My wifi was down yesterday when I wanted to do yoga, so I did a few moves on my own, but was definitely too fast. I need a class to follow.

Ietthemeatcake · 01/01/2021 17:55

I'm in, think this will be my fourth year doing the 30 days in January. I hope that because I am working from home I will actually do it each day, as previously I have got behind as I tended to miss it on days I went to a pilates class before work. (No chance of that for the foreseeable).
I've been dropping in and out of YWA over the last few months so it will be good to get back into a routine. In early lockdown I was doing it every day and my postures definitely improved.

bimbimbap · 01/01/2021 18:41

@parrotonmyshoulder i did that one too this morning, and looking forward to starting (my first) 30 day programme tomorrow!

parrotonmyshoulder · 01/01/2021 18:46

I like the ‘waffle’ more and more as I do more of her videos. It gives me a chance to get into the posture or the breathing. Used to annoy me as I wanted to ‘get on with it’ but I don’t need to do that so much anymore.
Enjoyed heart and head reset, despite the talking. Did you @bimbimbap?

Signing in after a few months hiatus. I started doing a morning meditation instead but miss the stretches.

itssquidstella · 01/01/2021 19:26

I'm in. I gave up last year because there was too much waffle, but as I’ve got more time on my hands this year (thanks, COVID), I thought I'd give it a go. I think it'll be good for me to have a daily focus and mindfulness sessions so I'll try to zone out through the waffle!

She definitely talks too much for it to count as exercise, though, so I'll be carrying on with my normal exercise alongside the Breath series.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 01/01/2021 19:32

Have been toying with the idea as my forrin lockdown has been extended to jan 17.

Question for you all. The best (for me) yoga classes have been hatha yoga just positions rather than sequences. What would you recommend youtube or appwise?

BigBadVoodooHat · 01/01/2021 19:33

I’m in! I always look forward to Adrienne’s January programmes 😊

Magnificentbeast · 01/01/2021 19:55

I'm in!
I don't mind the waffle. My yoga isn't a very high standard so I'm happy to just go with it. Besides I find her very personable which helps.

Redcrayons · 01/01/2021 19:55

Me! Im in, I started with Home last year and have managed to be pretty consistent over the year. Made a huge difference to my strength and flexibility.

I’m hoping there won’t be a lot of snuggly blanket ones, as I prefer to be a bit more active. I’m very much looking forward to it.

See you all tomorrow.

HensInTheSkirtingBoard · 01/01/2021 20:42

@StrictlyAFemaleFemale I would definitely recommend Down Dog app - totally customisable so you can pick styles (hatha, vinyasa, ashtanga, nidra etc), levels etc, even choose 'boosts' if you want to focus specifically on eg: breath, or your back, or twists etc. It's brilliant imo.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 02/01/2021 00:08

Thanks @HensInTheSkirtingBoard I will check that out!

Taswama · 02/01/2021 10:08

Day one done.
Twisting my wrists was painful and just sitting still and focusing on my breath was really hard too.

Redcrayons · 02/01/2021 10:14

Day one ✅ Bit waffley at the beginning, but I struggle with being in the moment and listening to my breath. I’m too fidgety and want to get going. Surprised to see a couple of planks in the first one as well.

Also, Spent too long wondering if Adrienne had got some new patio doors or had she moved House. Blush

Must focus more...

Sooverthemill · 02/01/2021 10:28

@UnaOfStormhold hi!

itssquidstella · 02/01/2021 11:53

Day 1 done here. I thought she offered fewer modifications for beginners than in previous series, and assumed more knowledge of yoga terminology. I’ve persuaded my 63 year old mum to give it a try but I think she might find it tough, especially without Adriene cuing easier modifications.

Sooverthemill · 02/01/2021 11:57

@itssquidstella hello!

itssquidstella · 02/01/2021 11:59

Hi @Sooverthemill!

ApolloandDaphne · 02/01/2021 12:04

I've just done the first one. My legs feel a bit wobbly now! I was loving the relaxation towards the end until my DH decided to start putting things away in the kitchen cupboards. The racket travelled right up through the floorboards and inside my head!

Weepingwillows12 · 02/01/2021 12:09

Day 1 done. I also think she assumed a bit more knowledge than in other years but was ok. First one is always slow so hope it picks up a bit. I did a fair bit of yoga at the start of last year but today's session made me realise I already lost a lot of upper body strength as plank and downward dog was hard again.
