Who is going to do Adriene’s 30 day programme January 2021?

I’ve done the last few years and try to do a video most days throughout the year. I like the structure of the 30 days. I think my favourite was Home as the length (short) of the videos suited what I had time for. Looking forward to seeing what’s to come.

I liked the slow day ( 16 is always relaxing) and the reminder ( I think) that we don’t always need to be super active. As part of a series I think it works

I am only just finding out that there is some structure to Adriene's 30 day programmes- ie day 6 is abs, I din;t know day 16 is always relaxing- I have done 3 or 4 of her programmes, but never noticed this.
Is that explained anywhere?
I mus admit to not doing day 16 today, just a little at odds with my energy right now, I was looking for someting energetic and challenging, so hopped over to Kassandra.

itssquidstella · 17/01/2021 16:19

I loved today! Had been for a three hour walk so it felt really nice to sit and do nothing for a bit!

EssentiallyDelighted · 17/01/2021 19:46

I did day 14 today, I think I'll probably give 16 a miss to help me catch up, breathing and relaxing is my least favourite part of yoga, that's one advantage of doing videos instead of classes for me, I can skip the last 5 minutes. I do occasionally go with it and enjoy it but it's rare.

Sooverthemill · 17/01/2021 20:00

If you look at them all you can see a pattern. I believe the December calendar just gone had a few day 16 s one week. But yes there is, maybe she explains it in a vlog? But it's definitely a thing

Redcrayons · 17/01/2021 20:05

Not a big fan of the stillness and breathing Stuff so would have preferred a bit more stretching.

sycamore54321 · 17/01/2021 21:09

Day 16; done. I didn't hate it but didn't love it, and then needed to spend an extra half hour stretching out as I'd had a heavy day spring cleaning and felt all seized up. I know she's encouraging this aspect in the current series but honestly, I'd probably rather it without. Hopefully it won't be the dominant part in the second half of the series.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 17/01/2021 21:23

I loved it! Felt a mile tall and so relaxed by the end.

Haven't done yoga before though, so have a lot of wide-eyed enthusiasm for anything and everything at the moment Grin

Talisin · 17/01/2021 23:06

Did day 15 this afternoon and mostly enjoyed it although the leg baby thing was plain weird Grin Decided to wait till later to do day 16 and having now completed it, it was the right choice as it’s very definitely an end-of-day relaxing thing for me. The time flew by and whereas a week ago I’d have had to roll off the mat after sitting that long cross legged, I managed to unravel myself with only a little stiffness. Does anyone else inwardly wince at the gristly sound your neck makes when you do head rolls? Or in fact - does anyone else's neck make those noises or is it just me?

NotMyDayJob · 17/01/2021 23:13

Day 15 done. I got the discipline part but if I'm honest I'd have liked a bit more moving. A bit too sedate for me. But onwards to day 17!

OwlLovesTea · 17/01/2021 23:26

I did two yoga workouts today. A sean vigue 25 minute conditiong power yoga workout, and "floating yoga studio" 35 minute warrior flow which was lovely, really enjoyed both of them.
I so badly want to enjoy Adriene's workouts more than I do 😢 but i may do one tomorrow. I did 11 and 12 so im a bit behind.

Talisin · 17/01/2021 23:58

Oh I meant to say - for those that haven’t done day 16 yet, have a glass of water within reach when you do it because you’ll get a really dry throat.

I didn't get. dry throat at all doing day 16.
AthelstaneTheUnready · 18/01/2021 08:36

Neither did I. But I do have a very grindy crunchy neck, so not just you, Talisin. Hoping it will improve, as my knees have already stopped clicking Grin

ApolloandDaphne · 18/01/2021 08:38

I definitely have the grindy, crunchy neck!

Sooverthemill · 18/01/2021 08:41

@OwlLovesTea it sounds like you're just not needing this program if you are craving power yoga workouts. Not a criticism! These aren't fir everyone I guess. This is a contemplative program I think and Adrienne has deliberately designed it so for this point in the pandemic to give people the tools to sustain them . I love to do the January program as a way to set myself up for the year and even if I would usually choose a more powerful practice I always get a great deal from the January program ( except dedicate which I abandoned, no idea why).

itssquidstella · 18/01/2021 09:01

@Talisin I have a super crunchy neck, I love neck rolls for that very reason!

ApolloandDaphne · 18/01/2021 09:16

I do the sessions more as a contemplation and reset rather than a workout. I am now feeling calmer and more able to cope with the emotions I feel around everything that is happening at the moment.

Sooverthemill · 18/01/2021 10:33

Well I did today's with DH watching in as I overslept and he had already started WFH. Dreaded it but oh it was brilliant as always. It's always just what my body needs! Also my neck creaks and makes weird noises too

drspouse · 18/01/2021 18:13

I did week 1 of this term's Pilates by my regular teacher today instead as it's an hour and I have a few to catch up and I had a spare hour. So I'm 2 days behind. It was a bit weird as it's much less professional obviously but more personal.

itssquidstella · 18/01/2021 18:14

I enjoyed the slightly more dynamic practice today. I keep forgetting to check to see how many people are practising alongside me, though!

Hollybutnoivy · 18/01/2021 18:16

How do you do that?

drspouse · 18/01/2021 18:20

If you are doing it in a UK morning time on the day it's released you can check the views before and after.

parrotonmyshoulder · 18/01/2021 19:24

I loved Day 17 - Explore. My favourite so far. Felt like I could do all of it, and enjoyed the chance to ‘freestyle’ a bit. Didn’t feel long.

I struggled this morning with D17. I was feeling very tired though. I really appreciated the relaxation bit at the end. I am really glad I did it regardless.

Does anyone else struggle with cactus arms?
