Who is going to do Adriene’s 30 day programme January 2021?

I’ve done the last few years and try to do a video most days throughout the year. I like the structure of the 30 days. I think my favourite was Home as the length (short) of the videos suited what I had time for. Looking forward to seeing what’s to come.

Double bubble today for me as I didn’t get chance yesterday. My balance is so terrible, I definitely need to do more work on that.

Weepingwillows12 · 12/01/2021 19:15

I liked today's one. I struggled to get my leg to touch my knee from 3 legged dog but I loved the movement and also the pigeon one at the end. One thing I am really struggling with is my transition from floor after cobra to knees (dont even try plank yet) to downward dog. I can't seem to make it flow and always seem to need an extra breath in the middle. I think it's because my arms are weak and I am focusing on technique but any tips from anyone who got through that would be great!

Magnificentbeast · 12/01/2021 20:06

I really enjoyed D11 Flow. Not sure if I did actually flow but I would do that one again.

I used to really like the pigeon pose. I still do feel the benefit but it's less comfortable now than in my 20s. I thinks it's one I would like to keep trying to improve. Same with the tree pose. Definitely better when I was younger and carried less weight,

AthelstaneTheUnready · 12/01/2021 21:11

I really liked that. Unnoticed by me, I have got slightly better at planking/not collapsing to the ground, so I did get repeated glimpses of what a proper flow would feel like if I had a bit more muscular control.

I'm so impressed she's managed to improve my strength and control in just 11 days of niceness!

Willow I find it hard to follow the breathing all the time, particularly when she's explaining. I think I breathe slower than her 3/4s of the time, not quick enough for some links, and have to take lots of spares while she's talking or I'm trying to work out which muscles should be doing what.

parrotonmyshoulder · 12/01/2021 21:39

I enjoyed Day 11 a lot. I would happily do that one a few times a week.
Pigeon was ‘yummy’ as Adriene would say.

Day 11 done really late as my day ran away with me. Actually though it would be a good day opener (flowing) it also makes a great closer.

I now feel stretched and relaxed and ready to wind down 😀

drspouse · 13/01/2021 08:19

Well day 11 woke me up! Managed to get my knee further forward than before but I'm just not a downward dog fan...

ApolloandDaphne · 13/01/2021 08:23

I don't like the pigeon. I flowed from 'pigeon' into 'wounded pigeon;' then to 'dead pigeon' as I collapsed sideways. It really hurts my hips.

ApolloandDaphne · 13/01/2021 08:24

I also do a good 'tree being felled'.

EssentiallyDelighted · 13/01/2021 09:03

I managed Days 10 and 11 yesterday so that's me caught up. I like pigeon pose but haven't done it for ages, I wondered at first why I wasn't feeling any stretch in my hip but realised I was tipped over a bit too much, once I got upright it was a nice deep stretch.

My flows are very un-flowy, there are usually quite a lot of extra hands, knees and elbows on the ground between positions, I am overweight and my stomach and boobs get in the way. It's getting easier though.

EmmaStone · 13/01/2021 09:23

Day 12 done, a nice short one, quite a lot of down dog holding though. I'm so stiff in the mornings, can't get as deep into my forward fold as once I'm a bit warmer as the day goes on. Long one coming up for Day 14, which will be Friday for me, and should be a day off (workload dependent...), so I'll look forward to it!

ApolloandDaphne · 13/01/2021 09:26

I so was not in the mood today but I am very glad I just went ahead and got on with it. A short and soothing practice was just what I needed.

NotMyDayJob · 13/01/2021 09:26

Days 8 and 9 yesterday and day 10 this morning and really hopeful to get day 11 done later (as only 20 mins). Then I can do 12 and 13 tomorrow to catch up. I cannot do the nostril breathing!

Talisin · 13/01/2021 11:52

I procrastinated and ended up too tired to do day 11 last night so have done it just now. It seems to be just me but I always find flows very boring, my mind starts compiling shopping lists or thinking about work and it puts me off. Still, at least it was short. My pigeon dismount has not improved - if still involves toppling sideway.

speakout · 13/01/2021 12:30

I liked day 11, nice and easy.

whitershadeofpale · 13/01/2021 13:45

I skipped 3 days as I’d fallen down heavily on my tailbone and had a really sore back. Was planning to get back to it today and catch up the days I’ve missed before the end of the month but I’ve just got a BFP this morning!

It’s very very early days and I’ve been reading all about first trimester yoga and there’s some conflicting views. My natural response is to continue but modify with no lying on my stomach or closed twists, but am cautious after an early loss in November, have any of you practised throughout pregnancy?

Hollybutnoivy · 13/01/2021 13:53

Congratulations Whitershadeofpale! I don't know anything about yoga and pregnancy though but hopefully someone will come along who does.

Day 12 was hard and not really enjoyable for me. Why is Downward facing Dog so difficult and painful and just eeeurgh - does it get better? The only bit I found easy was the crouch at the end!

EssentiallyDelighted · 13/01/2021 14:00

Congratulations Whiter. I didn't practice through pregnancy (it was a long time ago for me). I would suggest that you need to take care not to overstretch as ligaments become looser due to all the hormones, as well as care with some specific postures as you have mentioned. Also watch out for balances as your centre of gravity changes.

Redcrayons · 13/01/2021 14:23

Congratulations@whitershadeofpale
I know nothing about pregnancy and yoga, maybe search Adriene’s YT channel? She seems to have a video for everything.

Today’s was short and sweet. I can definitely feel the strength in my arms improving. Last week the planks and down dogs were killing me, but felt pretty comfortable today.

Sooverthemill · 13/01/2021 15:18

Yes she did do a short pregnancy set of videos when her business partners wife was pregnant a few years back. Congratulations!
Loved day 12 don’t know how it’s always the perfect practice for my energy levels

Sooverthemill · 13/01/2021 15:37

Also I really liked her outfit in today’s video. Great top and leggings, such nice colours

niceupthedance · 13/01/2021 17:57

Completed day 12, along with 5,000 other people Grin

AthelstaneTheUnready · 13/01/2021 19:55

I liked today as well - could have done with more of it.

Think I must have really short shins too, because it was really difficult in that back-of-the-mat squat at the end to keep my arse from resting on the floor. Had to lean forward quite a lot to keep it up.

More cat participation today also. They're relatively safe purring around underneath my downward dog, but I don't fancy their chances under an extended plank.

Talisin · 13/01/2021 21:23

Lovely gentle stretchy day 12. Glad I saved it for tonight and didn’t just tag it on to the end of 11. I am definitely getting looser now, I could do that squat at the end fairly easily and I wouldn’t have been able to a week ago.

Sooverthemill · 13/01/2021 21:28

@AthelstaneTheUnready one of my cats tries to sit on my back while I'm in flat back. Quite tricky
