Very excited when the email came this morning! Is anyone else up for this?

Place marking Smile Did it last year as a complete newbie as part of the typical January big fitness and diet overhaul and shockingly not only did I manage to stick to it but found it did wonders for my mental health. Woke up early this morning to fit it in before work and despite it being a long practice it felt like it flew by!
Can anyone recommend any other exercise to do alongside it to build muscle tone?

KinkyDoritowithsparkleson · 02/01/2020 17:45

Found that hard going and I'm sure I did lots wrong - total newbie, very unfit and fibromyalgia. Loved it though and pleased I did the full thing. Not sure I'll be able to up-pace very quickly, might have to repeat some days and take longer.

daisychain01 · 02/01/2020 18:33

Hi all - I've done the Day0 and Day1 just now, does that mean I'm up to date?

I was poorly for the past 3 days with a terrible head cold, and today is the first time I felt semi human, so hopefully I'm not lagging behind... found the forward folds a bit challenging due to tickle cough! Rather trembling on the planks! But survived to tell the tale.

I think the next few days will ease me back in gently.

daisychain01 · 02/01/2020 18:37

Believe me @KinkyDoritowithsparkleson no way I can do more than snails pace! I missed out some of the reps, so don't worry about it, do only what you can.

Based on the Day 1 video, Adriene seems to have reverted to her earlier style (like the original 30 days series) and isn't trying to be all trivial and chatty. Thank goodness. Hope she stays like that, today was very relaxing and focused without all the chitchat.

PurpleDaisies · 02/01/2020 18:44

I haven’t done it yet. Dh has cooked jacket spuds for tea so I might be waiting a while until I’m ready to try it...

KinkyDoritowithsparkleson · 02/01/2020 18:44

Thanks daisy. Fingers crossed. Anything has to be better than the nothing I usually do! Grin

daisychain01 · 02/01/2020 19:02

Lol @KinkyDoritowithsparkleson stick with us, we'll keep you going!

Redcrayons · 02/01/2020 19:05

I’m going to give this a go. I tried last year, but I’ve never done yoga before and couldn’t keep up with her and I gave up.

Whereisme · 02/01/2020 19:58

Can I join?
Just done Day 1! Enjoyed it apart from finding it quite hard on my wrists.

Titsywoo · 02/01/2020 20:08

Just done day 1! Enjoyed it but I found myself very achy through the shoulders and back during a fair amount of it. Hopefully that will improve in time!

mamapants · 02/01/2020 20:56

Done day 1 too. I have loads of aches and pains and I don't know where they've all come from. I normally do yoga at least once a week but haven't done any for about 3 weeks now and am really stiff and ache. Am having the same trouble with running, hurting something everytime I go out. Not sure what's going on.

KittyMcKitty · 02/01/2020 21:19

It’s so great to hear of everyone’s experiences with Day 1 - I’m excited to see what day 2 brings am considering adding a short meditation (definitely NOT my strong point but something I’m keen to explore).

On a side note does anyone pay for the FWFG premium during the rest of the year? I’ve been considering it and am interested to hear others experiences.

I will be joining in but probably 2 days behind--so busy with year end at work that I really need some yoga in my life but I just won't have time until I'm finished with this business... Catch 22!!

Cherrypi · 02/01/2020 22:31

Enjoyed day one and even got my husband to do it with me.

noodlezoodle · 02/01/2020 22:35

That was lovely, I feel all floaty and relaxed now. It's been months since I last hit the mat and as always I now can't remember why I waited so long! My body is complaining a bit though - with the neck stretches and chest-openers it made me realise how much of the day I spend hunched forward over my laptop.

Kitty I haven't done FWFG yet but am also considering it, mainly because I've used so many Adriene videos over the years that I feel I owe her!

MamehaSan · 02/01/2020 22:36

Signing in! I did Day 1 this evening and enjoyed the pace, once it got going it felt less waffly than last year's 30 days - I hope it carries on in similar vein. I'm hoping to keep up and not get too far behind with them, I know it will be a challenge when I go back to work next week and have the DCs to wrangle too. I'll give it a go, though!

sycamore54321 · 02/01/2020 22:58

Day 1 complete. I quite enjoyed it (and am continually shocked at how inflexible I’ve gotten). I too found her less waffley than last year. I did managed to surprise myself nicely on the planks though, which I really didn’t expect.

It was a tad on the long side however, and am looking forward to the less-than-30 minutes segments next.

Like before, I also found my wrists sore. I know she says to claw through the fingers etc but it doesn’t seem to work for me. Anyone got any tips? I have added extra padding under my mat but still...

KittyMcKitty · 02/01/2020 23:02

noodlezoodle my thoughts exactly I feel like I should give something back.

OP posts:
eatsleepmoverepeat · 02/01/2020 23:31

I managed to get it done but I struggled with my wrists a bit. Really want to keep up for the whole 30 days this time round!

Sooverthemill · 03/01/2020 07:55

@Kitty I have subscribed to FWFG for a few years now. I actually rarely use it for practices because I can get YouTube on my TV so it's easier but sometimes do the members only practices. That's mainly when in hospital with DD. I started because i am virtually housebound and so can't pay for a class and decided that I wanted to support her as she gives me free daily practices worth £££ a year. Tbh some of her motivational talk winds me up but she is an excellent teacher. And I love Benji!

Sooverthemill · 03/01/2020 08:54

Done day 2. Very nice. Someone said day 1 was all stretches to start with, wondering if it's because of all the brand new to yoga people who would be doing it?

KittyMcKitty · 03/01/2020 09:03

I enjoyed Day 2 very much and feel very grounded for it - now taking the dog out in the rain which will be less fun!

Agree Sooverthemill about it building for beginners (it was me who said about being mostly stretches) and that’s really great as so many yoga classes can seem daunting. Thanks also for your comments re FWFG - I think I will sign up - Adriene has given so much to me and I would like to give back - plus the subscription is way less then the cost of 1 class at my local studio - I love Benji too!

envelopeofpubes · 03/01/2020 09:35

In terms of wanting to give something back, the best thing you can do is like the videos and subscribe to the channel. That’s how she is able to make her money, not via subs.

For anyone finding this series too basic, Lesley Fightmaster is running a 30 hatha series on her channel. Three days in it’s ace. But def intermediate.

Sooverthemill · 03/01/2020 11:12

@envelopeofpubes I do that too and recommend her to everyone. But in terms of regular income I want her to have my subscription. You also get little extras you don't get on the YouTube channel. £7.99 a month ( for me) isn't much to pay

KittyMcKitty · 03/01/2020 12:04

envelopeofpubes I’ve already subscribed/ like the videos/comment some time ago but just wanted to do a little extra (plus get the extra content).
