It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

Fiadh it took me a couple of years to manage chatarunga and longer to do up dog. You can always lower in half plank (knees on the ground) and then do cobra.

Namaste all and Flowers for everyone having a hard time at the moment.

I keep missing a day then catching up - 24 and 25 today, and I really liked both. Enjoyed the balancing and I can feel my flexibility growing a bit - noticed it in the lunges. I came a bit unstuck in the gate (?) pose as I turned away from the screen so did the first side a bit wrong. Will try to go back to that one!

juniperjune · 26/01/2019 22:41

Day 25 in the books. I'm enjoying this and am sad the month will end soon, so I'm thinking of doing one of her other 30days in Feb. For those that have done one before, which would you recommend? Are they all similar to Dedicate? Thanks!

visca · 26/01/2019 22:50

The last couple of days have been a bit bleh. Too much waffle on Day 24 and too short on Day 25. Tomorrow is a longer practice, so I've got my fingers crossed that the extra length is actual yoga, not just standing in mountain pose!

whitershadeofpale · 26/01/2019 23:18

Day 25 done. Can’t believe there’s only 5 to go!

noodlezoodle · 27/01/2019 02:40

I've been away for a couple of days so I am a bit behind. Did Day 23 today and was glad it was so short because I did spin class this morning and everything still hurts! I was dreading the side planks but they're so much easier when they're part of a flow, I was surprised.

It looks as though no one really enjoyed Day 24 but I'm looking forward to it because I love balances (despite being awful at them). We'll see if I feel the same way when I've done it Smile

noodlezoodle · 27/01/2019 02:44

Also meant to ask, how are you feeling @Gumpendorf? How frustrating! Hope you're not in too much pain.

chutneypig · 27/01/2019 07:27

Hope your wrist is easing up Gumpendorf.

I snuck Day 26 in early in a bid to do it in peace and quiet. Which worked apart from the last 5 minutes when my son got up and wanted to chat. Can’t complain as he got himself up for junior parkrun.

It was split in half, first half standing postures with some balancing and the second half lizard and twists. I found one of the twists very challenging. Can’t for the life of me remember what it’s called but you’ll know which one I mean Grin.

I was thinking about Dedicate being a slightly slower pace than the original 30 days, which is the only other one I’ve followed through. Being a bit slower has helped me focus on breathing and transitioning between postures so I think it’s coming more naturally now without me having to super concentrate on it. I think I might run through 30 days next though, curious to compare.

daisychain01 · 27/01/2019 07:32

Just noticed your post Gumpendorf, so sorry you fell, that's awful. I do hope you're OK, poor wrist. I hate the feeling when you know you're going to fall and there's nothing you can do about it, so frightening,

I don't expect it will be much use atm if you're in pain, but if you are rehab'ing, the trusty dolphin variation (for plank and downdog) is very gentle, no weight at all on wrists. At least you don't have to completely miss out, but only when you feel better x

Looks like today's session is back to a longer one 30 mins. Tomorrow's even more so at 37 mins.

daisychain01 · 27/01/2019 07:35

Chutneypig, I was thinking the same thing, re comparing 30 Days to Dedicate, they are very different in style and content. Maybe February we could all run with the 30 Day videos. I know I'm going to miss my daily yoga fix, if I don't do something!

qumquat · 27/01/2019 07:53

Just done day 26 after having lapsed at day 5... I really liked it but even 20 mins of yoga after a 20 day break and my wrist is killing again. Feel so despairing as it's the only thing that helps to lift my depression. Think I'm just going to have to leave out anything that involves leaning on the wrists - the first half was great!

GreenHatHacker · 27/01/2019 08:12

qumquat I have a problem with my right wrist - getting round it with 'gorilla hands' I.e. make a fist and balance on your knuckles keeping wrists straight rather than bent at a right angle. It makes some transitions a bit awkward, but means table-tops, planks etc can be attempted. Would that work for you? It's horrid to feel frustrated.

Jduh · 27/01/2019 08:13

Completed day 24 & 25 yesterday. Plan to do day 26 this morning.

qumquat · 27/01/2019 08:18

I've just done the Five Parsk Rise and Shine video, it's great! Thank you!

It reminded me of my favourite Adriene video which is this one:

I definitely find her non-30 day routines have a lot less waffle.

qumquat · 27/01/2019 09:02

Thanks greenhathacker. I've been trying gorilla hands but can't make them work for downwards dog. I often balance on my fingers but I'm not sure if that's a wise thing to do.

On the plus side I've just seen five parks yoga has a whole set of 'wrist free' videos! I'll be checking those out tomorrow.

Ietthemeatcake · 27/01/2019 09:36

Heads up that today's video - drop - is only 21 mins, not 31 as on the calendar 🤔

Cherrypi · 27/01/2019 10:36

Ooh February’s calendar looks perfect for me. I always find that month hard and care is definitely needed. Found drop a bit difficult but was trying to do it in front of the children. Off to try bouldering this afternoon in a place that also offers yoga.

quirkychick · 27/01/2019 10:50

Still full of cold Sad, so today's was Adriene's Intro to Yin, slow, restorative and involving lots of cushions and blankets.

Gumpendorf I hope your wrist feels better soon. When I first did the Yoga Camp 30 days, I wore a wrist strap which really helped. I always had weak wrists, but yoga has definitely strengthened them.

Destiel · 27/01/2019 10:54

Day 26 done :)

Sorry for all the posters suffering x

I found the drop ok, but simply could not do the side dip things in lunge!!

Also found getting in and out of lizard (?) Difficult.

Thank you all for the thread...it pushes me to keep going!

Does anyone have a link to the Feb sessions?

Talisin · 27/01/2019 11:09

February calendar is here

Destiel · 27/01/2019 11:36

Thank you x

cheminotte · 27/01/2019 18:12

Did days 24 and 25 together today so now only one day behind!
Found 24 a bit waffly and day 25 too short but ok combined with 24.

whitershadeofpale · 27/01/2019 19:02

Day 26 done. I went I’ve skating earlier so it was a nice stretch on my legs, but the cow legs hurt my knee so I did the adaption which was a shame as I felt it lessoned the effect.

GreenHatHacker · 27/01/2019 19:07

Did day 25 and 26 to be all caught up again. I loved the cow legs stretches and stretching over the lifted leg, my hips really needed those today!

Habadabadoo · 27/01/2019 19:16

Day 26 done. Thanks for the heads up on it being shorter @letthemeatcake not sure why that was!
