It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

Hi everyone, I'm back!! After a very long 3 weeks and 3 days Openreach finally managed to get up reconnected. It's actually been quite nice as the DC (including the moody 17 year old DD) have spent more time together, playing boardgames etc.

However, I have really missed having my yoga gurus. I have done a couple of Five Parks with weights and today I think I'll do an Adriene gentle one for back ache - too much gardening yesterday.

Welcome Valancy I find yoga has helped me a lot with mental health, this year I have managed to keep going longer than before and while it's not every day it's about 4/5 times a week and it just gives me the time to calm - even if I am still thinking about things, it's in a calm manner.

ValancyRedfern · 29/08/2019 22:34

Thank you August. I have just done another Five Parks wrist free routine and it's definitely calmed me (despite the fact I was worrying throughout, it was in calmer way!). Unfortunately my back is still hurting from the cobras and up dogs last week. I get so annoyed when I try to do something good for me and it backfires!

drspouse · 01/09/2019 10:17

Can anyone recommend a really soft yoga mat? My knees are not happy with the current arrangement (a rug on a hard floor) and I think I got rid of my old yoga mat so I need a new one.

AugustRose · 01/09/2019 11:56

To be honest I use a cheap rubber type mat but it is on carpet, you can always double up on a mat if it helps.

I haven't been doing much lately as the end of August isn't a good time for me so today's Fill you cup from Adriene was ideal. I hope I can keep it going as we head back to school, I'm starting my new degree in 2 weeks (eek!!) and really need to be more focussed and aware than I have been. Onwards and upwards as they say.

AugustRose · 05/09/2019 10:52

Still keeping going, I've done a few yoga with weights this week and feel better for it.

Sooverthemill · 05/09/2019 11:11

@drspouse I splashed out on one of these after several years of cheap ones which were okay but not great. It was my birthday present to myself. It's genuinely transformed my comfort and confidence on the mat! I looked for a discount code online . For my DDs birthday I got her a lulumamon one which she loves

drspouse · 05/09/2019 12:55

I just went for a quite thick one from TK Maxx in the end.
Have done my 30 Days and on to September Rebirth. There are a few days when I have to do two school runs and on to work when I'll struggle to fit in more than 10 mins so I'm not sure I'll do all the list but I'll give it a go, it's really helping with my sciatica.

AugustRose · 08/09/2019 11:08

I signed up signed up on the Commune site to a 21 day yoga programme with Schuylar Grant as I thought it would be good to go through the poses again, practicing my alignment. The first two days were OK but half way through the 3rd day she starts a short flow that is badly described and too quick. So if anyone new was starting with her I think they'd be confused and maybe put off. I also find her manner and voice a bit harsh.

Anyway, I went back to Adriene today but will be focussing on my alignment more.

Hello all,
Haven't checked in for a while - August just seemed to get away from me! I work at a Uni and it's our busiest time.

Have done 'Fill your cup' which was lovely for a gentle one, adapted Yoga for Runners into a post-gardening stretch (it's all about the legs for me!) and quite a bit of free-styling. Daily practice has fallen by the wayside though, must make more space for myself.

Excited as we have booked two weeks holiday at the start of October including 10 days away (don't think I've had two weeks together in years!) so now looking for a set of sessions to challenge myself with in that time. I think I can get one yoga brick in my suitcase!

GreenHatHacker · 15/09/2019 21:20

Leaving a note to myself here to say that every day I do yoga I feel better in mind and body because of it - especially on the days when I feel I can't be bothered! Did Day 8 of True today - gentle, stretchy and calming to the mind at the end of the 30 mins.

drspouse · 16/09/2019 18:55

I didn't feel like any sort of energy this morning so did a gentle morning yoga instead. Was v good for my hips.
Tomorrow's is Calm and I have others I really liked in the past I'm going to repeat if I don't like the look of that day's. Particularly yin, and anything for the back.

AugustRose · 22/09/2019 11:41

I'm still here and doing yoga when I can, had my first week at university so a lot of travelling means it's harder to fit time in. I did I am Grateful fro Yoga camp today followed by this week's self love meditation. I always feel really emotional when I do meditation, I think it's the sitting doing nothing else so lots of thoughts fill my head but it was good, I should do it more.

drspouse · 22/09/2019 19:35

I really like Headspace meditation.

I've been doing quite a short yoga each morning then the longer Saturday one while DD is at football and DS is watching TV (oops). I have a few days at home this week so can drop off the DCs and come home to do a longer one, the school mums may think I'm going for an energetic run too! DS is at a new school and I'm feeling really out of place anyway. Maybe I should wear a badge saying "I'm not going for a run".

quirkychick · 24/09/2019 13:40

Smile I love Headspace too, drspouse. I'm currently redoing the Sleep pack, as a tricky summer with mil ill and then dying, has meant my sleep has been all over the place.

The last few weeks, I've been doing some Shiva Rea (20 mins Vinyasa in the mornings), some Five Parks Yoga with weights each week, usually at the weekend. I'm just getting over dd2's lurgy, so took a day of rest, then Adriene's Yoga when you're sick, Five Parks Yoga gentle yoga (which is quite similar, but no props). Gradually getting back to it.

GreenHatHacker · 29/09/2019 09:13

16 days of holiday - 30 days of yoga!

I've been trying to find another graded programme for my hols, but in the end have just decided to do this year's Dedicate all over again - will let me catch up on the odd days I missed first time too, when I was more focussed on staying in synch with everyone else. I've refound our thread from January - fun to reread what everyone thought at the time.

Finished work on Friday evening completely drained & just crashed onto the mat for Day 1 remembering that it was mostly Adriene waffling anyway! A nice way to chill down. Have just completed Day 3. Can't claim it's much easier this time through, as I've lapsed a lot the past couple of months through being so busy at work - but hoping the muscles will get the hang of it all again soon!

AugustRose · 05/10/2019 16:22

First yoga in a week for me today, the long days are really taking their toll - I did the 40 min Yoga for Creativity with Adriene.

On a positive, my campus is all up hill with lots of steps so my legs are feeling a more toned already and I've lost 2lb!

drspouse · 31/10/2019 09:29

I have been keeping on, I tried to focus on back/shoulders for October but the last week I've been focussing on "yoga when you have a cough".
I think I'm going to try and do the Nov 30 Days, but there are some long sessions on busy days I can already see.

iheartspiders · 01/11/2019 06:12

Morning, can I join in?

I have the intention of following YWA's November calendar ("Grateful") - I want to try to do yoga every day in November (because running or age has made me super stiff this summer - worse than normal).

Just got up to do day 1, Grounding Into Gratitude.

Anyone else?

drspouse · 01/11/2019 08:31

I did day 1 yesterday because I didn't think I'd have time today. I didn't sleep well last night though so I may do a really quick wake up one.

daisychain01 · 08/12/2019 07:20

Does anyone know if Adrienne will be doing another release of 30 Days of Yoga in Jan 2020?
