It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

Grin greenhat.

The Adriene for Healthy Body popped up on my YouTube, so I tried that. It seemed a bit slow, but I think it was more of a beginner practice. I might try the abs and attitude tomorrow.

AugustRose · 04/06/2019 11:21

I did the Five Parks Flow in the Forest this morning, it's another mandala flow and long at 1 hr but the setting is sooo peaceful, wish I was there. Tired now though.

quirkychick · 04/06/2019 16:22

That looks good, AugustRose. I meant to say the Five Parks Strength and Energy one was a mandala and has that twisty move to twisting lunge.

GreenHatHacker · 04/06/2019 21:07

A free evening and I fancied something a bit more challenging, so did the Five Parks 60min Deep Stretch. Had to adapt a few times, but have learned some interesting new poses - some of which, like Fish pose arms (couldn't take the neck back) and Deer pose legs felt really therapeutic in parts of my body that haven't been getting stretched in that way in other routines. Definitely some elements in there to adopt more often.

When I was googling for Five Parks, this article came up. Anyone tried any of the other teachers mentioned apart from our lovely Adriene and Erin?

Blatant place mark

AugustRose · 05/06/2019 11:19

Oooh I just did the Five Parks 3rd Chakra again and it was just as hard. I'm going to give that Deep Stretch one a go tomorrow I think GreenHat I like new poses Grin

I think I might have done one by Candace but not sure, I haven't tried the others but will have a look at them.

Spudlet · 05/06/2019 14:59

Hello again Smile Just did Arms Abs and Attitude, I quite enjoyed it! Although my sideplanks definitely had a waney edge to them Grin Trying to get my arms strong enough for a proper chauranga to up-dog, so I suspect I'll be revisiting that one fairly frequently.

AugustRose · 07/06/2019 10:46

I did that deep stretch one today, I love deer pose as it's much more accessible for me that pigeon. Fish pose made me feel a little dizzy so I didn't do it for long. It's a nice long stretch if you have the time.

quirkychick · 07/06/2019 11:38

I did Adriene's arms and abs the other day. I don't yet have the core strength for the rolling, most of Erin's core ones do that too. I find the balancing on your toes quite easy, but I used to have bad plantar fasciitis and have done lots of foot exercises, so they've obviously paid off.

spudlet I think it took me 3 years of daily yoga to manage chatarunga and updog properly, but you will get there.

I did Five Parks Rise and Shine again today, I find Eagle pose quite easy, weirdly, and managed holding half moon on a block with no wobbles. I'm off to check out deer pose. One of Erin's deep stretch ones does supported fish with blocks, which I like. It might be the posture one.

I did this Five Parks Full Body Deep Stretch one today, the first half is lower body stretching and the second half is upper body; which is clever as you can do it in one go or split it up. I did the lower body this morning, I've walked loads and did leg weights yesterday, and will do the upper body tomorrow.

AugustRose · 08/06/2019 11:36

That looks like a good one, I'll try it over the next few days. I did a wrist free one this morning as my shoulders are a little sore again.

GreenHatHacker · 09/06/2019 10:13

Did the Yoga for a Rainy Day last night - although it had stopped raining, I needed a 23 minute session as I was baking, so that took exactly the right time before my cake was due to come out of the oven!

AugustRose · 09/06/2019 11:04

Hope you enjoyed the cake Cake

I've just done Adriene's Yoga for Risk Takers which is today's video and it was just nothing - I feel bad saying that but we didn't do anything much at all - crow near the end but that's it. I added some of my own arm/ab stuff at the end to feel like I'd done something.

quirkychick · 09/06/2019 16:39

AugustRose I think I find quite a few of Adriene's videos quite slow, now. Both Shiva Rea and Erin's pack much more into a session. Even the slower Five Parks stretch ones, give you quite a few advanced options to show where to aim for. I did like Adriene's Ocean flow one recently. I think I need to pick carefully.

GreenHatHacker · 09/06/2019 17:08

I've not tried any of the Shiva Rea ones quirky, are there any you'd particularly recommend? Agree Adriene can get a bit samey - or is that because we do so many of them?!

quirkychick · 10/06/2019 08:10

GreenHat I really like Shiva Rea's Daily Energy, I have the dvd, but think someone's put the whole dvd onto YouTube, I'll try to link later. They're 20 mins flows with a few extras such as core and meditations. Each flow is a different chakra, earth is quite straightforward, heart-air is slower but some harder poses, water is a mandala flow, shanti is slow but stretchy, fire is fast (and quite hard) ... she is quite fast and very flexible, it's very Californian.

GreenHatHacker · 10/06/2019 16:41

Many thanks, I'll look those up.

quirkychick · 11/06/2019 07:24

Greenhat it looks as if the whole dvd has been taken off YouTube, but I think most of the individual sections are here m.youtube.com/playlist?list=ELPq1Im5-NwBM1NdOxLQDyrg her more daily energy is good too, it's separated into lunar (easier) flows and solar (harder) ones. I like that I get a good thorough yoga practice in 20 mins plus shavasana.Inlike to mix it up a bit too, I find different teachers focus on slightly different things. Adriene does lots of forward folds, Shiva Rea does lots of half splits etc.

AugustRose · 12/06/2019 10:31

I did Five Parks summer vinyasa today, mainly because it is rainy and windy and cold, and I needed some sunshine even if it's not mine Sad

AugustRose · 13/06/2019 11:04

I did a VERY old Adriene Weight Loss one this morning as it was an hour long. Lots of lunges, planks and down dogs so I am feeling it.

quirkychick · 13/06/2019 12:29

I was wondering about doing some of the weight loss ones, as they are probably a bit more active.

I did a hands free yesterday and today a Shiva Rea Shanti flow, slow and stretchy with lots of pigeon and cow legs.

GreenHatHacker · 13/06/2019 16:56

This week I did the short Yoga for Flexibility (which I enjoyed and wished I'd picked a longer one) then the Yoga for Connection. That had a lot of breathing exercises which I'm usually frustrated by, but stuck with it and felt a bit calmer in my brain afterwards.

Aiming to have a go at some of the Shiva Rea recommendations over the weekend for a change.

AugustRose · 14/06/2019 10:34

Today I did this longer mandala flow but the transitions are a bit tricky and I felt a little twinge in my back so not sure if I'd do it again, although probably better the more you do it.

quirkychick · 15/06/2019 09:01

I did an Adriene Power Break weight loss one, that was 17 mins but some core. Today I did a Five Parks with weights 30 mins one. I could feel that I'd done quite a bit of core already yesterday! I may need to do something gentle tomorrow as my shoulder can feel it. I couldn't manage the side planks with a weight in each hand, but that may the shape of my dumbells made it hard to balance. It was definitely hard work, I had to rest in child's pose a few times, rather than downward dog. I might try and do a weights one once a week but I'm not sure I'm ready for a full hour yet Shock.

quirkychick · 15/06/2019 09:01

That was obviously harder than I thought, sorry for all the typos.
