It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

I haven't done much core recently so will feel it next time I do anything like that.

I did the Yoga for Tension which is today's new video and although it was very slow, it was nice to concentrate on the breathing with gentle movements and I will come back to this one when things get a bit much.

quirkychick · 08/07/2019 15:59

I did the Release one from True on Sunday and Five Parks new hips and lower back, as I felt stiff, yesterday. Today, I did the Five Parks Rise & Shine again, as it's 20mins and a good range of poses.

GreenHatHacker · 10/07/2019 20:52

Just done the July Day 11 Gentle Yummy Yoga - did exactly what it said on the tin! Very nice, one to remember for those evenings when I'm feeling too knackered to try much!

quirkychick · 14/07/2019 09:59

GreenHat thanks for that recommendation, I did that the other day, when I felt tired.

I did Adriene's Power Yoga, which I quite liked but found the sequence a bit repetative. I missed the jumping jacks out, the floor's too noisy to be doing it that early in the morning! that's my excuse anyway, the squats have given me creaky knees today, though. Five Parks 40mins one with weights, I must be getting stronger, as I managed lots of the flow from warrior 2 to triangle with weights, whereas I couldn't even do it once a couple of weeks ago Grin. Not so great on the roll up to chair, even with helping myself up and slowing it down, I can't do it very well. I think you must need core muscles of iron.

AugustRose · 14/07/2019 21:07

Sorry I haven't been around much, have done a couple of Adriene's videos but not much else. I need to go back to her tension one as we've just been told we will need to move out of our rented home that we've lived in for years. Cue lots of worry and stress, trying to sell stuff and generally things not going as planned. Why is it when I really need the yoga I don't seem to be to concentrate on it?

quirkychick · 15/07/2019 21:27

Flowers AugustRose that sounds stressful! I think when things are tough it's hard to carve out extra time or focus for yourself.

I did the 15mins Five Parks Vinyasa the other day, which was great. Quick but challenging, so I got a good workout in a hurry. Tired this morning, so did a deep stretch one (dd2 woke up and banged on her window at 4am Angry).

GreenHatHacker · 15/07/2019 21:52

Oh August, so sorry to hear that - must be so stressful for you. If possible, do try to make time for yourself amongst all the organising.

You might like to try the Serenity practice - I've just now done it after a stressful day. July day 18 (Revolution Day 8). Very calming - she does a few crunches in the middle with a pillow, but I just waved my arms & legs around to feel good!

AugustRose · 16/07/2019 19:56

Thank you, I'm sure we'll be fine once its all sorted.

Managed some time to myself this morning so did an hour of Five Parks a bit of everything, it was really warm and I felt good afterwards.

GreenHatHacker · 16/07/2019 20:54

Randomish choices today - 'Yoga for feet' this morning as they were really achy for some reason. This evening I shifted more than half a tonne of compost, so decided on some 'Lower Back Love' to recover after my bath!

quirkychick · 17/07/2019 07:53

I just did some sun salutations yesterday, in a rush and tried the Five Parks twists, balances with fallen angel (which turns out to be harder than side crow Grin). So, I did a few seconds of crow, which is my limit, a twisting squat which is side crow without lifting your feet and skipped to stretching out. I quite like the twists/binds ones as a variation on core practice.

GreenHatHacker · 17/07/2019 21:13

Not having much time today, thought I'd do the 12 min hips & core vinyasa, which I was quite enjoying til I got caught out by the wobbly warrior 3s!

Lovely beach Adriene was practising on - here we just have the sound of the combine harvester churning up & down the hill!

AugustRose · 21/07/2019 11:09

As I can't do yoga every day at the minute I'm focusing on the Five Parks yoga with weights and a bit of cardio. Warm here today and it's supposed to get warmer next week, at least it's good for getting an extra sweat on!

quirkychick · 21/07/2019 17:02

I had a sore back yesterday, a pulled muscle from slepping strangely, so swapped the Five Parks with weights for an old Yogalates with resistance band dvd, I did the upper body workout. It was a bit slow, but supposed to be designed to help injury. I felt better today and did the leg version. I will try to get in the Five Parks with weights in later during the week.

Cherrypi · 21/07/2019 20:46

Yoga belly is nice. Lots of breathing at the beginning.

quirkychick · 23/07/2019 17:39

I did one of the 30 mins Five Parks Yoga with weights, but skipped the serious cardio as it was already quite hot. I'm already finding the weights easier and might try a longer one, once the school holidays are here (one more day) and I have more time in the mornings. I did Adriene's core and hips on the beach one yesterday, thanks to whoever recommended that one.

GreenHatHacker · 24/07/2019 07:49

Invented a new form of yoga this morning. Open all windows in attempt to get draught. Strip down to skimpies. Rub cold wet flannel all over. Gently do favourite postures whilst enjoying the feeling of evaporation from skin.

Reckon there's a market for it, but can't find the tag line - damp yoga doesn't sound very appealing!

AugustRose · 24/07/2019 08:07

Green Grin Grin sounds like you were actually doing the hot yoga where the turn up the temp and sweat it all out!

Thankfully one benefit to my house is that while it is absolutely freezing in winter, it means it stays cooler in summer. Didn't to anything yesterday as we were out on a walk. Going to do a weights one again today, sun shining and windows open.

quirkychick · 24/07/2019 13:06

I did the 30 mins hands free Five Parks on the beach (Erin was on the beach, not me). A few wobbly half moons but all the balances I've been doing this morning are mostly paying off.

Pmsl at the damp yoga! I think it's been very sweaty yoga here at casa quirky.

drspouse · 26/07/2019 15:41

Hello, dipping a toe in here.
I used to do a lot of yoga but have not done much for 5+ years.
I now have a bit of sciatica and need to do SOMETHING so I've been trying Adriene, starting with specific back stuff but I got a bit bored of the same ones so I've done days 1-6 of the 30 days.
However I'm a lot stiffer than I was and I'm really struggling with the transitions. Any tips? It's not really flow so much as creak and try to catch up.

Hi drspouse a bit harder than the Adriene ones, but I did the Five Parks Yoga 40mins back and hip tension release this morning. Not much flow between but I get tight hips and back and it felt good. It included fire log pose (which I'm getting better at, but it could just be the heat), pigeon, cow face, I even managed mermaid.

quirkychick · 26/07/2019 15:58

In fact all the Five Parks deep stretch ones are good. She often offers lots of modifications, but if you've done quite a bit of yoga you may already know how to modify the poses to suit you.

AugustRose · 30/07/2019 10:51

Welcome drspouse no real advice except take it slow and adapt as you need until things start to feel a little more free, it too me a long time and if I have any extended periods of not doing anything I still feel stiff for a week or so.

Had a couple of days visiting family and have felt a bit blurgh since I came home so I just did a Five Parks gentle yoga this morning.

drspouse · 30/07/2019 13:32

Have been doing Adriene "beginner" and "gentle" for a few days now.
Those poses might be a bit too deep for me at the moment but I'll see what else there is on that channel.
I've got the family on board a bit more now "oh, Mummy's just doing her yoga, boring" and I even managed to work round the cat who came in and decided it was breakfast time while I was, ironically, doing cat-cow (I did feel she was judging me though).

quirkychick · 30/07/2019 15:16

drspouse just do what you feel comfortable with. A few years ago, I was massively modifying the January Adriene sessions due to hamstring issues. I certainly could not do pigeon or cow legs.
