It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

Ooh I did this Five Parks Morning Yoga with weights this morning and it was good - 60 mins though and I don't think I'll ever roll up into chair pose and I did a static forearm plank instead of hip dips. It has some cardio bits in it which is good for me as I haven't done any cardio for a couple of weeks, sweating now but feeling good.

quirkychick · 15/06/2019 14:46

AugustRose I think the roll up to chair is very advanced, you must need a very strong core. Rolling to boat is hard enough, I need to help myself with a hand. I need to up my cardio a bit and the Yoga with weights certainly gets a sweat going I skipped the jumping jacks as it was too noisy on my creaky floor, so early in the morning.

AugustRose · 18/06/2019 10:23

First yoga for two days and I really miss when I can't get on the mat, it has become my short bit of calm in my day. Five Parks Complete Vinyasa Flow this morning and the sun is trying to shine for the first time in a week so that's good.

AugustRose · 20/06/2019 11:26

Shoerter yoga with weights yesterday and then the longer 60 minute one again this morning, feeling it in my legs.

GreenHatHacker · 21/06/2019 21:28

My first proper session in about a week this evening. Have been travelling - cramped flights, unfamiliar hotel beds, trying to do a few stretches squeezed in between the hotel bed & wardrobe. Like august says, you can't beat your own mat!

Old favourite of Day 8 Dedicate tonight to get everything loosened up again!

quirkychick · 23/06/2019 10:16

I did the 45 mins Energising strength one with weights, I managed most, but not triangle with weights, it made my old shoulder injury scream out. I can manage a hovering triangle without putting my hand down. That and lots of walking have given me quite stiff hips today, so I did the 45 mins Deep Stretch, I really noticed how tight my left hip is, but less so after that. I'm very impressed you did two weights ones in two days, AugustRose.

I think the thing I like about yoga is even if I'm short on time, I can manage a few sun salutations, or if I'm tired and sore, I can do a slower stretchier one, so I usually manage it every day even if it's just a bit.

Adreine's Sunday morning email made July's calendar sound inspiring. I've been falling off the wagon a bit the past month, not through lack of motivation, but I seem to be letting 'real life' pressures build up again and not giving time to myself. Going to try to get back on it by doing Adriene's calendar every day in July...

quirkychick · 25/06/2019 14:03

If I don't have much time, GreenHat I often do some sun salutations or a short video, on the basis that something is better than nothing.

I did Adriene's hip and lower back release (which I like) yesterday as my left hip and thigh was still sore. Today I did a quick Erin's core and then did some more core stuff later.

GreenHatHacker · 26/06/2019 16:57

Thanks for the inspiration quirky! It encouraged me to just get on the mat last night & do my own thing. Had a fun freestyle doing "what feels good"!

GreenHatHacker · 30/06/2019 08:16

Hmmm, lots of long ones in the July calendar I see! But having set myself the target of doing Adriene's sessions every day again through July, to get back into it properly, I'm going to give it a go...

AugustRose · 30/06/2019 12:35

Hi everyone, not yoga for over a week as I've had a cold and they always go to my sinuses so upside down is just a no go. I did Adriene's Yoga for Confidence to get me back in followed by some arm work. quirky my weights are very light and really just something to hold on two Grin but I am looking for some slightly heavier ones, I have white flabby arms that I really don't like in short sleeves so toning them is one of my main focus points this summer.

I have found that I really struggle with balancing postures on Adriene's videos but not so much with Five Parks, and I wonder if it's because you have to concentrate more with Erin as she does so much and with Adriene I find my mind wandering a bit more.

noodlezoodle · 30/06/2019 20:34

Hello everyone, I've also fallen off the yoga wagon recently apart from a real life class last Sunday, but I'm going to do the July Empower challenge as having a specific 30 day challenge seems to work really well for me.

See you all on the mat!

Cherrypi · 01/07/2019 10:13

Trying to get back on the mat daily for my mental health. Did July playlist day one day. Boy I was sweating. Not really done much power yoga before so this will be a challenge. Feel great now though.

GreenHatHacker · 01/07/2019 21:47

Lovely to see everyone checking in for July!

July day one here too. Had to adapt the jumping jacks cos of my dodgy knee, so did swiftish changes between goddess pose & star pose for similar effect - at least so my thighs tell me!

noodlezoodle · 02/07/2019 01:22

Argh I've fallen at the first hurdle. I hadn't realised that the July series was around 45 minutes every day and I'm not sure I'm going to manage it. Might just have to do the general calendar and some shorter ones when I don't have time.

I did want to recommend Adriene's Yoga to Slow Your Roll - I did that yesterday and it's a nice, short calming one if you want something non-energetic...

Cherrypi · 02/07/2019 07:10

I enjoyed the roll one too. So achey this morning not sure I'll manage another 45 mins today.

AugustRose · 02/07/2019 11:12

I like the power one and have done it a few times, however I also have ot modify the star jumps as my knees can't take it.

Did the Yoga for strength this morning, I like it.

Cherrypi · 02/07/2019 15:27

I managed the yoga for strength too. No star jumps in that one.

quirkychick · 03/07/2019 07:38

AugustRose the weights I've been using are 2.5kg for arms and 3kg for legs in Erin's 45 mins one, but my legs and hips were very sore after that one. I went back to the 35 mins one on Saturday. I've done quite a few stretchy ones from Five Parks and today, I did a Shiva Rea Evolution Balancing flow, after lots of the hands free ones I managed this quite well, except for the arm balances. Side crow and some others I can't do, I managed twisting half moon on just the middle level block, so I must be getting stronger and more flexible.

I haven't looked at the July calendar yet, but longer sessions can be harder to fit in.

GreenHatHacker · 03/07/2019 08:05

Have decided it's the daily doing, rather than the order that's important (& I want to lift weights tonight so need some energy left!) so have done theYoga Stretch this morning - very nice!

AugustRose · 03/07/2019 10:54

Did the Yoga for Butt & Thighs, a nice slow one but you feel it.

noodlezoodle · 04/07/2019 19:55

I did the Freedom Flow one today - I really liked it, and for anyone that feels she's often a bit slow, this is a constant flow for about 15 minutes so it gets the heart rate up as well.

GreenHatHacker · 06/07/2019 07:42

Core strength ritual this morning - challenging but made it through. Needed all the bedroom windows open for enough drought to stay cool! A routine I would have really struggled with at start of year because of weak neck muscles, so can see how I've improved over time. Can't keep up with Adriene's pace on the crunches though - I'd be hyperventilating breathing in & out that fast!

AugustRose · 06/07/2019 11:52

This morning I got up earlier than normal and did the Freedom Flow which was nice with continuous movement and followed it with the yoga stretch.

Green I can't control my breath that fast either, it feels like I can't breathe and makes me dizzy.

GreenHatHacker · 07/07/2019 08:41

Ooh goodness, the DOMS from yesterday's Core routine - hurts when I cough! Guess it shows I need to do more routines like that, though not feeling inclined today!
