Who's up for a thread to discuss our progress this year? We've had threads following Adriene's 30 days of Yoga for the last few years so sign up now for January.

Based on the last few years I'll warn you now: watch out for day 6!!!!

I’ve got as far as Self Discipline, CountFosco and seem to have stalled. It was tough! Well done quirky, I'm reconciled to never being quite that flexible.

I feel I need to do them in order in a nerdy way so may do the travel one this evening.... here for motivation

quirkychick · 16/02/2018 07:58

Gumpendorf that's after 2+ yrs of daily yoga and I try to sit on the floor in the mornings with my coffee. The knees are gradually going down when I'm cross-legged, I still need a cushion to sit on, though!

A busy morning, so I've gone for 10 rounds of sun salutations today. I was previously only managing 8, so getting more stamina etc.

Gumpendorf · 16/02/2018 19:37

That's a good tip quirky

I've done Travel, repeated Day 1 of True (not what I remembered) and Compassion. I was worried about Compassion as 50+ minutes seemed a tad long but I enjoyed it.

Onwards ...

Tangarine · 17/02/2018 11:33

I did Hands Free last night. Maybe it was because I was tired and not in the mood but I didn’t enjoy it at all. Just back from parkrun and about to do today’s which is Yoga for Stress Relief. Can’t believe I am still going. Felt strong running this morning, I’m sure the daily practice is making a difference.

CountFosco · 17/02/2018 12:46

I'm on day 2 of revolution so. It's still slow and gentle here. I am stronger (at almost 50) than I've ever been although how much is regular yoga and how much is regular swimming it's hard to say.

Just done today's one, Peaceful Warrior. It's quite slow but sometimes holding the poses while Adriene talks you through is quite challenging. I think I got in a muddle with the twists and cow legs at the end, but managed to do it on both sides. Not as flexible as Adriene, by any means, but getting there.

I'm late 40s, too, CountFosco, I do yoga and some weights (haven't quite got so back into the weights after December's flu) and walking. Not sure which exercise does which, but I'm sure the variety helps.

Tangarine · 18/02/2018 11:07

I have just done Peaceful Warrior as well quirkychick. I really liked it, I found some of the transitions quite fast and my heart was beating quite quickly (maybe the extra coffe I had for breakfast 😄)

quirkychick · 18/02/2018 13:37

Tangerine I think I thought it was quite slow as I've been doing Shiva Rea's daily yoga, 20mins quite fast vinyasa flow. It was quite challenging to hold some of those poses and I can definitely feel my obliques now!

Tangarine · 18/02/2018 15:40

Smile quirky. We went for a brisk walk late morning and my legs and glutes were complaining Smile

museumum · 18/02/2018 20:59

I've stopped practising daily now (did true in January) but I've started a 3x week running plan and can't do both. I did yoga for tired legs by adrienne today though after a tough bike ride yesterday and it was great!
I love her!

Gumpendorf · 20/02/2018 11:02

I am missing the tough Jan schedule and I'm hoping to build up to that again. I had a virus at end of Jan which is difficult to shake off. So I'm trying to do the Feb timetable daily, but not pushing myself to double up when I do Pilates or have a long travelling days. I can add 10 years to the late 40s and finding fitness levels need to get ever higher to counteract the effects of ageing. Wink

Today, I'm going try the 10min self love and confidence boost because I need it

I'm finding this thread really helpful in keeping me going. Thanks

1000piecepuzzle · 20/02/2018 21:08

Likewise Gumpendorf Flowers

I have been picking and choosing from the february list to suit energy and time. Felt brave today and did Self Discipline which was indeed tough, a number of positions that I was nowhere near! But I still feel stronger and flexible and enjoying it. Plus Adriene lightens it up well with her random musings.

I hope there will be a March list to choose from too, I find her complete listing of videos overwhelming and could spend 30 mins trying to choose one then running out of time to actually do anything!

frenchfancy · 21/02/2018 17:15

Dstil doing yoga most days. I have been picking and choosing what seems right for the day. Today did revolution day 6. A hard one but a very good one for abs. Don't think I could have done it if I hadn't done true though.

quirkychick · 22/02/2018 10:13

I did Yoga for a Rainy Day, today, as I have done a fair bit of tougher vinyasa flow and sun salutations, as well as lots of walking and some resistance band exercises. I've done this one before but it's gentler and very leg stretchy, perfect for my sore legs. I can see quite a difference in my flexibility, I'm finding pigeon easier and I wasn't managing it at all in January, and I managed standing splits with no block, legs are still quite bent, though.

1000 there are loads to choose from, aren't there? I have some favourites of Adriene's and I also often try what's new that week. Some of the foundations are good if you want guidance on particular poses, though you might want to add another short video, too.

Tangarine · 22/02/2018 10:54

I’m still managing a daily practice. It’s just part of my routine now, although I am deciding day by day whether to do it in the morning or the evening.

I’m starting to think ahead to March, when I’ve got some long haul travel and big time differences to manage (and probably small hotel rooms and patchy WiFi!). I think I’ll do one of the 30 days of yoga series to keep me on track.

quirkychick · 22/02/2018 12:26

It's part of my routine too, Tangerine, ever since doing the Yoga Camp 2yrs ago. I either do it first thing before the dcs are up, or later in the morning, when they're at school, depending on the day. I've revisited the various 30 day yoga series various times, they are really good to focus on.

newfunahead · 22/02/2018 17:08

Hi all I think I'm going to start the 30 day challenge so I've marked my place on the thread so I can see how others are doing with it Smile

Tangarine · 22/02/2018 17:40

quirkychick do you have a favourite 30 day series? I have only done this year and last year.

quirkychick · 23/02/2018 06:50

Tangerine I'm not sure, the Yoga Camp has a mantra each session and ends with I Love iirc, so if you feel the need for self love it's a good one to do. Last year's Revolution, I failed to do properly last time, as I had a hamstring injury and related back issues, but came back to in May and loved it. It really changed how I moved. I haven't done the 30 days of yoga for a while, so can't quite remember. I often revisit one of the 30 day ones in the summer and again in the autumn, as it just keeps me focused. The rest of the time I flit between Adriene, Shiva Rea (faster vinyasa flow) and doing sun salutations if pushed for time.

quirkychick · 25/02/2018 10:16

I did yoday's yoga for self-doubt, which was short and gentle, followed by neck and shoulder release, which came up as recommended, also short and gentle. One I would definitely come back to.

Tangarine · 25/02/2018 10:31

Thanks for the recommendations quirkychick. I’ve just seen that there is a March calendar- decisions, decisions!

Just back from a damp run and off to do today’s session.

quirkychick · 26/02/2018 07:19

Just looked at the March calendar too, lots of practices from Rise, not sure if that's subscription only.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 01/03/2018 15:38

hello all

just wanted to check in-have continued with my daily practice and really loving it but miss the cameraderie here!!

I am just going on adriene's page and picking a practice depending on time and mood. My personal challenge is balance so usually adding some of that.

And yes-I am now that person-we went to newcastle for weekend to visit DS and I brought my yoga mat!!!

Are any of you following a calendar etc?

Tangarine · 01/03/2018 19:44

Hi mumsie I am following the March calendar (for now).

1000piecepuzzle · 01/03/2018 22:23

Hello! I was picking from the feb calendar, probably managed 3/4 of it, now starting the March calendar although it feels too cold to be doing all these "wake up and feel fresh" ones! Need some more "my toes are frozen and I'm huddling in front of the fan heater" sequences...
