Yoga With Adrienne - Revolution 31 days

Anyone signed up to these emails starting on NYD? I started yoga at the beginning of the year and have been surprised at how much I enjoy it, did the 30 days of yoga earlier in the year, and am committed to completing Revolution in real time!

Love Adriene, so gentle and kind. Total girl crush!

I am only on day 14 but it turned out to be a good one for a post-parkrun stretch and massage Smile

I like the idea that tomorrow is about brave practice as that fits in with what is happening in real life to me.

I skipped day 17 (saving it for a day with no time!), and did 18&19 today. I find she spends so much time in downward dog, my shoulders get quite achey. But liked Day 19's balance, although how she managed to get all the way down in that cross legged squat was quite something!!

Still behind. Did day 12 yesterday and was really enjoying the sun salutations and then the blooming video froze. So annoying because I had to have a difficult conversation with my boss on Friday and really needed the yoga to calm me down before we had it. Anyway it went as well as it could (boss is really fab actually and he was less aware of the situation than I'd realised and said he'd sort something out and I know he will). So today I completely pissed off my kids (who wanted to watch back to back Worst Witch) and did day 12 and 13 one after the other. Thankfully that worked quite well since there wasn't much overlap and LOVED the hip opener stuff on day 13 (all that means of course is that I'm pretty flexible in the hips as it is, really the routines you find hard are the most valuable).

Ooooer, there was a cross legged squat either in Yoga Camp or 30 Days.. and I could do it (much to my amazement, I'm generally crap at balances but admittedly good at squats). I shall look forward to Day 19 Grin

Looks like we are all behind a bit, I took more than 30 days to do Yoga Camp or 30 Days so I think it's pretty normal. Just checked out last years thread and I'm much further ahead than I was last year so that's something at least! I'm doing some exercise every day now as well which 5 years ago would have amazed me.

As far as how long the videos stay up they are all on YouTube forever, I've spent the last year trailing through her back catalogue and will no doubt repeat Yoga Camp and 30 Days after finishing Revolution.

Fallonjamie · 22/01/2017 06:09

I'm almost up to date. Going to do 21 and 22 today. I'm loving it and am definitely stronger and more flexible than when I started.

quirkychick · 22/01/2017 15:24

No yoga, today, for me. Full of dcs cold: thanks, kids! Feeling rough and taking it easy, hoping to get back to it tomorrow...

Oh, Fatrascals I will look at that yoga for when you are sick. I am on day 3 of sitting on the sofa with a hot water bottle and green tea, full of horrid cold.

Adriene also does a great yoga for women for period pain and the Yin yoga one is really restorative too.

I found bits of 23 quite challenging (raising leg/arm in plank) but at least I tried. 3 weeks ago I would have skipped those bits!.

I'm behind too, just done day 18. More like yoga every other day for me at the moment. Nasty migraine last night too, ugh.

quirkychick · 24/01/2017 11:02

Thanks Fatrascals I have just done Yoga for when you are Sick, just what I needed. Dd2 woke at 3am this morning and didn't go back to sleep again, so spending another day at home with a 7yr old yoga buddy. At least I feel I haven't lost my momentum so much. I might try Day 17 tomorrow, if I feel up to it. On the plus side my hamstring is much better with enforced rest and a hot water bottle!

Rhinestone I hope your migraine gets better soon, soooooo painful.

carrie74 · 24/01/2017 12:51

I did days 23 and 17 yesterday (but still got 20 & 22 waiting in the wings!). Expected 17 to be lots of lying down, but it wasn't -waaaaa!

I'm not sure what I'll do at end of January, I don't think I can keep up with every day (and I find it means I'm not doing other fitness stuff, and I don't want to drop that), so I'll continue with my classes and the odd bits at home, maybe if I've got no other exercise planned that night.

quirkychick was the fuzzy headed post migraine bit today at work, not great for productivity. 3am though Shock you have my sympathies. Youngest was always an early riser but never that early.

Might try another session tonight once DC are in bed...

quirkychick · 25/01/2017 10:51

Rhinestone I used to get migraines with the combined pill and remember the awful migraine-hangover after! 3am was because dd2 had got constipated and it woke her up (had a clear out since Shock thanks to movicol, mango, beans and dried cranberries!). I feel worse today, actually, but that's probably due to period pain. Will attempt Day 17, shortly.

carrie74, I originally planned to do yoga every other day, but (normally) do it daily as I really got the yoga bug after last year's Yoga Camp. I will probably do a mixture of Adriene's videos, I think she normally posts new ones about once a week, and I have some Shiva Rea DVDs, particularly Daily Energy (more power yoga/vinyasa flow) that are 20mins, so fit into early mornings better. She's less chatty than Adriene, but super calm, although some are quite tough and quick.

Shiva Rea is very new age Californian, over, but very calm and super flexible! I have the dvds as they have a "yoga matrix" so you can pick and mix your own practice. The Daily Energy ones are specifically designed to do a quick burst of 20 mins each day. I tend to flit between those and Adriene's depending what I feel like.

sugarmonster64 · 25/01/2017 20:51

I missed out the longer ones - I hadn't planned on but had unexpected stuff to deal with that took priority. The last week I think are shorter videos. Today was only 18 mins and much more doable. Hoping to get to end of week and I'll only have missed 3 which I'm quite pleased with all things considered. Can pretty much get my heels down in downward facing dog too which is an improvement.

Still hanging in in here and generally having fun. Am a few days behind (day 21 today) but still mostly enjoying. I've noticed the next few are longer which is a bit of an arse as I do them post kids to bed but pre dinner but will manage.

Definately seeing huge benefits - sleeping better, much more flexibility in my legs and a definite improvement in my core. I like the challenge/programme element of it which motivates me so suspect I may look at one of the other 30 day programmes when done.

Just did Day 26, did Day 23 yesterday - I keep hoping I'll catch up with the days I've missed and do 2 days of video in a row but it doesn't seem to happen. Day 26 arrived just as I turned my laptop on so I went with that. I got hot and had to take a layer off and then got cold again. Will try and do another day later (but I've said that before).

quirkychick · 26/01/2017 12:01

over I flit between Shiva Rea and Adriene, depending what I feel like. You might also enjoy Headspace for the whole mind, body thing (if you don't do it already) I've nearly finished an appreciation pack, which has certainly helped with the January blues and made me feel calmer.

Last year I did the Yoga Camp and it really got me into daily yoga. I feel like I've let it go a bit with injury and virus, but I have just done Day 18 all except a couple of vinyasas and feeling good but sure to be a little sore tomorrow. Nice to be back on track, though.

Fatrascals I agree Adriene has loads of videos to choose from, the Foundations ones are good for poses you are finding tricky and are generally short too. I loved the Yoga for when you are sick, thanks for recommending that, great for getting you back into it; the Yoga for women is great for period pain and she has quite a few back ones which were fab when I pulled my back in the summer.
