Yoga With Adrienne - Revolution 31 days

Anyone signed up to these emails starting on NYD? I started yoga at the beginning of the year and have been surprised at how much I enjoy it, did the 30 days of yoga earlier in the year, and am committed to completing Revolution in real time!

Love Adriene, so gentle and kind. Total girl crush!

She was in London earlier this year, I didn't go but she was somewhere in the East End & somewhere like Porchester Baths. The classes looked incredibly full (from her Facebook page).

PhyllisWig · 13/01/2017 13:29

Did 11 this morning and will do 12 tonight. I usually do it after work and definately preferred that to early doors - morning exercise = cardio for me really.

quirkychick · 13/01/2017 14:59

I am going to try to catch up a bit tomorrow. GP thinks I have tendonitis of the hamstring but that I don't need to stop yoga as long as I'm sensible. So, I will just have to modify, I can't do child's pose as I can't bend my knee that much, but I can do heart to earth/puppy pose as I can manage 90° bend fine. Awaiting a physio referral.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 13/01/2017 18:16

No yoga yesterday due to no time, then this morning I managed to come off my bike on a patch of ice. Luckily I was wearing my helmet but bit headachy now.

Is day 10 gentle? May give it a go later...

Blacksox · 13/01/2017 19:50

I am really loving this, and Adriene.

I am several day behind as I started late, but I feel I am already getting a bit stronger.

I am also slightly behind. Did day 11 after a run this morning and it was great as a post-run stretch out - it must have been meant to be!

Fallonjamie · 14/01/2017 13:45

I did 13 this morning and planning to do 14 later. I am enjoying it so much so far.

quirkychick · 14/01/2017 15:52

Thank you over. The self-referring physio on the nhs has sent me some exercises to do until my appointment: leg curls, squats against a wall and bridge pose, all seem quite easy. Last summer I pulled my back picking up dd2 in the park, I did Adriene's videos for back pain, they really helped, one of them is quite short iirc.

Have done Day 11, that balance is really challenging for me! Hamstring issue aside, my hips are very tight, though they must be getting better as I can sit cross-legged much more comfortably than a year ago...

carrie74 · 14/01/2017 18:16

Saw my PT yesterday, and he totally beasted me, that combined with another busy day, and I slipped further behind. Did 11&12 this morning (VERY achey after yesterday), and opening my hips hurt when I came out of poses, but put that down to hard work yesterday. Will do 13&14 tomorrow, but planning on fitting 2 'proper' classes in next week, so v likely to fall behind again! Never mind, off to Centreparcs next weekend, so should have some time to immerse and get totally caught up, exciting!

rhinestone, that sounds scary! Hope you're ok x

quirky good news and those physio exercises sound as though there's some crossover, hurrah!

over, please don't fear going to a class, the whole philosophy of yoga is very welcoming, there are so many different types at my classes (including some very inflexible retired men, who give everything a good try!). I find it really helps reaffirm my form, and sometimes go that bit further than I thought I could go. I also find Adriene's 30 minutes lovely, but I'm only just started to get my muscles moving and it's over! An hour's class let's me get deeper into stretches and corpse pose at the end is the best thing ever!!

I'm day 2! Love her. We're on cycle 14 TTC and feeling low. Yoga is such a good escape x

RhinestoneCowgirl · 14/01/2017 20:24

Was at work today, lots of standing up and talking to people, so lovely to do day 10 this afternoon when I got home.

Feeling rather stiff today, which I think must be related to falling off yesterday. Makes me realise how much I take mobility for granted. That's one of the reasons I do yoga, as I want to be a fit little old lady!

quirkychick · 15/01/2017 08:12

Me too Rhinestone. I am already more flexible than a year ago, when I started Adriene's Yoga Camp and kept going. My hips are very tight and officially I have tight hamstrings but my gp said "good for you" when I told her I did regular yoga.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 15/01/2017 10:35

quirky so great to feel your flexibility improving isn't it? My left hip is noticeably tighter than the right, but yoga is definitely helping.

Have done Day 11 this morning, going to persuade DH to do Day 12 with me this evening to catch up a little Smile

quirkychick · 15/01/2017 10:56

Day 12 done, I had to modify the mat work and did bridge (as it's recommended by physio Smile). My left hip is tighter too, I suppose it's trying to even out a lifetime of restricted movements in the modern world!

Argh. I am so far behind. I've missed two days because of attending my yoga class which is fine but in the last week I've missed 4 other days because of life (I have been swimming in the morning so I've not been completely lazy). We're putting the house on the market so have had estate agents valuing which required me hiding all our junk. House looked lovely as long as you don't open a cupboard!

Anyway, it's day 9 today for me tonight. Probably miss tomorrow evening as well though because I'm going round to my friends house for a film and gossip and wine. Maybe I should spend all day Tuesday doing yoga to catch up...

CountFosco · 15/01/2017 18:44

Talking about workshops, what are classes like? I'm a yoga virgin and not sure I'm doing it right. Am vv socially awkward. Am I right to be fearful of doing this in public?!

Classes are brilliant, because they are longer you get really into the zone. The number of people who start snoring at the end of the classes I go is insane, I come home all blissed out and go straight to bed.

carrie74 · 15/01/2017 18:51

Just did 13, and 14 is looking quite nice so might try to fit it in before bed, then I'll be nearly caught up...

Count feeling you re life's distractions. I promised my PT I'd go for a run this weekend. Oops. If all I had to think about was my life, I'd be fine, but sitting for 2 hours at the tennis court while DD plays matches, and supervising homework all morning, plus keeping everyone fed (WHY do they keep wanting to eat?!? Grin), means the day is soon gone.

Still, I'm fitting it in here and there, and thankful for that. Proper class tomorrow, so a good chance Adriene will have to wait til Tuesday.

Fatrascals good tip! I will try that. I was wearing pyjama bottoms so not ideal!
