Anyone signed up to these emails starting on NYD? I started yoga at the beginning of the year and have been surprised at how much I enjoy it, did the 30 days of yoga earlier in the year, and am committed to completing Revolution in real time!

Love Adriene, so gentle and kind. Total girl crush!

I am shit at tree pose too Blacksox, especially with an injured strapped up leg! I kept my foot on the ground for that one... I usually get my foot to my calf, but can't maintain it on my thigh, very stiff hips.

Did Day 13, openness, I didn't do the pigeon pose, but did wide-legged forward-ish bend instead, as good for knee/leg strengthening. I may come back to this one as my hips are very tight.

Managed Day 14 this morning, but had a horrible night's sleep after having a run in with both children last night (I get so fed up of them ignoring me when it's dinner time or bed time or whatever, and totally blew my top at them). So feeling really bad about that, plus my body just feels achey at the moment. Not ill achey, just tired muscles that don't seem to be repairing. I'm finding certain poses challenging that wouldn't normally be, and...I don't know. Feeling deflated today (clearly Blue Monday has struck me down!).

But I'm sure it's a blip. I also don't like being behind, I feel that I'm not sticking to what I set out to do, so then I get a bit stressey if I can't catch up, which I KNOW is stupid (and defeats the object entirely!!), but I can't help it.

Still, I've only got yesterday's and today's to catch up on, and I'm due a little bit of time this afternoon after work, while DS is at tennis, so I'll try and get largely caught up then, and I'm sure will feel better! Although maybe not if I've ended up doing approx 1.5 hrs of yoga at home, then a yoga class for an hour this evening...

I've just started day 1 Shock I hope the videos stay up in time for me to catch up.

I've been doing yoga classes but can no longer commute so being able to follow this at home is just perfect!

carrie74 · 16/01/2017 13:11

Well done Flabby, I'm sure the video will still be around, the one I did last year, I started late and was still doing into Easter!

Flabby the 30 days of yoga is from 2015 and still up, I believe.

Flabbygast · 16/01/2017 13:28

Wonderful Smile thank you.

I've always struggled with the meditation side of yoga but I now think that has been down to being surrounded by people in a class. It feels so serene doing it alone at home.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 16/01/2017 16:48

overthehill was nodding along at your post. I also think yoga and meditation has had psychological benefits for me. I have realised recently that I'm a bit over committed, trying to fit in various bits of voluntary work alongside the day job. So I've started saying no to things, and it feels much more manageable!

Fallonjamie · 16/01/2017 18:50

Day 16 was good but a few too many low lunges for my liking. It's my least favourite pose!

sugarmonster64 · 16/01/2017 21:16

Day 16 done. Have done every day on plan but I'm rapidly running out of steam. I can nearly do downward dog and put my heels down though so making progress

PhyllisWig · 17/01/2017 21:50

Did day 15 today and am still enjoying but could I ask for a bit of help.

I get that I'm a novice and so won't be able to manage everything but generally I think I'm doing ok. However, crow pose - I can't even manage the squat!

I can't get heels down, legs in the right place, any of it. I'm not expecting to manage it but I can't even manage the first step! Any tips?

Eastpoint · 17/01/2017 22:20

I've cheated a bit - I've had too much on & a swollen face and so been worried about moving my head around much. The last session I did was Day 11 and I've gone straight to Day 17. I'm going to assume that if I'm back on track that is better than feeling I will never catch up & then give up. So I have a semi-sense of achievement and hope that now I am participating again I will keep going with my practice. Day 17 was just what I needed after the last few days but I had quite a full stomach so plough wasn't great.

carrie74 · 18/01/2017 10:05

Phyllis, I think it's ok to begin with to have your heels up. Also maybe wondering your stance? I can get into crow but can't hold for very long (I've also been working on it for a year!).

Day 15 last night, and normal class tonight...

I got a bit behind - I was busy on Sunday, out late on Monday and too tired on Tuesday. But when I got up yesterday I realised how much I was missing it.

As it happened I was in a workshop on personal resilience at work yesterday, and the trainers said that all the research showed that the first things people in difficult/stressful situations let go of were the self-care things like making time for exercise and eating well, both of which could have a impact on things like rest/sleeping well That really resonated with me, so I am resolved to try to find that half an hour a day for some kind of self care. I agree with the psychological benefits of the practice - for me the physical benefits - like better posture - are an unintended but welcome consequence Smile

FiftyNineOhEight · 19/01/2017 12:08

Oh so I did day 11 last night, have just done day 1 and may try to fit in day 13 this evening.

quirkychick · 19/01/2017 13:43

Just did Day 15. Phyllis I can't do crow (even without a dodgy hamstring!) I just do the squat on a yoga block. I think crow is quite advanced!

Ulysses · 19/01/2017 13:59

I'm up to day 17 (which is lovely and gentle) but seem to miss out Tuesday and Wednesday due to busy work/commuting so am always playing catchup. I agree with the having time to yourself. I'm still struggling with a lot of the poses (crow - no way!) but do what I can and I'm geed up by the fact that I have attempted it.

I'll try and do day 18 tonight as I'm away to London for a couple of nights so can't see myself fitting it in there either.

I much prefer doing it in the early morning. I find other people being around very off putting.

Ulysses · 19/01/2017 14:00

Quirky, you've reminded me that I need to invest in a yoga block!

quirkychick · 19/01/2017 17:09

Ulysses I got my yoga block ages ago (pre-dcs) I find it really useful. Pinterest has lots of ways to use yoga blocks ideas too. Particularly good for injuries, too.

Ulysses · 19/01/2017 17:13

I used to yoga years ago and we were always using them in class. I feel that I could do with the help in certain poses. I may go for a couple of the thinner ones and stack them as required.

carrie74 · 20/01/2017 09:13

Just done Day 16, but wasn't feeling it. Away for weekend so hoping to catch up and get back up to date!

Eastpoint · 20/01/2017 11:04

I've just done 19 & 20, my mind is so congested I didn't do 20 very well. Walking lunges with weights on Wednesday have made me really stiff too.

Adriene might be the only person who thanks me today Smile.

Just done Day 16 too, carrie. Not feeling it here, very much either: I think due to having caught the dcs cold (cheers kids), I missed yesterday's as I had to pick dd2 up from school, unwell. I feel I've been rather hampered by injury and illness and it's stopping my daily practice, grrr. I'll keep at it as best I can but I may well redo the Yoga Revolution again later.

Yy, I have seen yoga blocks in tiger, mine is old, from Boots, I think.
