Coworker snapped at the dress I'm wearing

I’m wearing a three-quarter length thin white crepe fabric sleeved dress with black ric rac at the bottom. It’s quite sheer, but it’s lined and I’m fine wearing it. It’s boho and vintage. I have thick black tights on with it and black ankle boots. My coworker, who works next door, came in and said, “Aren’t you cold in that”? I said, “No, I’m fine”. She said, “No you’re not”.
Well, I am! I wouldn’t have worn it if I wasn’t OK in it.
The dress is a bit like this:

What I’m really asking is why has what I’m wearing got anything to do with anyone?

Kickoff Ecru Plus Ric Rac Dress

Expertly designed with a split neck and tiered silhouette, the Kickoff Ecru Plus Ric Rac Dress effortlessly combines comfort and style. The short sleeves and black ric rac trim add a touch of elegance to this versatile dress, making it perfect for any...

I just work in an office and I'm very boho and unique in my dress sense. Think vintage, artisan and folksie - and that's me! I'd also describe myself as way out with a 1960s influence.

Alright Phoebe Buffay 😭

Seems a bit inappropriate for an office to me, more like a cheerleader fancy dress, hence the lady in the pic having a pom pom.. Not the most professional looking outfit or something I'd personally wear but you do you. Of you ask for peoples opinions you have to accept their answer or what's the point..

This would be my thought too! If it is a very thin fabric and even if it is lined. Nipples could be showing through it.

It is a lovely dress, but not suitable office wear!

And if she has three or more nipples, those are witch's tits, and you will have to take action!

Botanybaby · 08/10/2024 14:25

It's not exactly work appropriate it looks like something you chuck on over your swimmers on holiday for lunch

Washingforweeks · 08/10/2024 14:53

wtf does way out mean

I like it. A lot better than fake wrap jersey dresses in hideous prints, or vomit-coloured knitwear with bum-hugging tailored skirts where the seam sits wrong, or dominatrix Thatcherite outfits, or a lot else that colleagues inflict on one's eyes.

Oblomov24 · 08/10/2024 15:33

Actually I think it's ok. It's not revealing in any way, it comes just above the knee, no chest/clevage visibility, I can't see what the problem is. Unless strict solicitors with a very conservative dress code, many offices will's be ok with this.

Couldn't agree more. Artisan FFS 🤣

Literally and blatantly rude. And the person you commented to.
The OP can read your comments.
”you can’t sit here with us” 🙄
She probably wouldn’t want to and neither would I, ffs.

@user1471867483 it’s not office appropriate darling although when I was younger I wore some ‘inappropriate’ clothes to work. You have black tights on though…. And there’s a slip underneath so your bra can’t be seen. I get it. I love how you’ve described your style.
Ignore the negative comments.

I know the OP came for opinions but you guys are rude

AlderGirl · 08/10/2024 19:11

I’m afraid it’s the sort of thing I would say. But at the same time, that’s me and I wouldn’t want you to overthink it. Each to their own.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/10/2024 19:17

I have a massive problem with your dress, @user1471867483 - I am green with jealousy at anyone who can wear white clothes, without dropping food down their front. 😉

There is a good reason why I wear lots of patterns! 😂😂😂

But in all seriousness, if your company/bosses are happy with your bohemian style, surely that is all that matters, and you should carry on wearing what you want!

Islandgirl68 · 08/10/2024 21:01

Nice dress, most offices are casual dress now. Walking about at lunch time in a big city most workers are smart casual or casual. Nowadays I wear Jeans, long time since I wore a suit. If you don't have buisness dress code, it seems fine to me.

craftysnake · 09/10/2024 12:05

I’d just shrug it off
