CQC interview

Hello!
I am a usual Mumsnetter, but changed username.

I had an interview with CQC for a inspector role just over two weeks ago, they said they'd be in touch either way by end of last week or beginning of this week. The portal says my application is "in review" and no change since before interview.

How long shall I give it until I follow up, or shall I even follow it up at all? It's a job I've wanted for a while but I'm unsure of what the realistic timescales are with these sorts of organisations!

Thanks

How long did it take for you to get offered the job from the offer ready list?

I’d like to jump on this thread please.
I’ve just applied for an ad hoc remote position. Not really sure what it’ll entail but I plan to do this alongside my permanent role as I have one day off a week spare. It says the daily rate is £300, surely not. Going off this thread, I don’t expect to hear anything for a long time, and as I have a job I have no plans to leave, then I’m not feeling stressed about. Does anyone have any experience on the ad hoc/remote position. I do expect there to be some in person work for inspections etc

Ad hoc work - SPAs is a bank of workers who support inspections and are offered work when the persons specialism is required for an inspection. You can accept or decline as you please when offered work

I was added to an offer ready list for regulatory coordinator a few months back and have today finally heard back from an assessment for inspector and told I’m on an interview ready list. Both times because there are no jobs in my area despite then specifying my area on the job advert.
It’s become quite disheartening. 😩

Hi
Don’t be, they are doing some re shuffling. Once done they will look to fill vacancies 😁

Hi everyone

Thanks for having this thread. I've followed your journeys for the last 5 months, and it's helped a lo - the process is so long and stressful. I've been out of work for two months and had no idea what I was going to do. Thankfully, I've just been offered an Inspector role after being on the reserve list for a few months. I first applied in February 2025, interviewed in June. I'm just wondering if anyone else has been offered a role from the reserve list? I'm the North Network.

Charlie1539 · 13/11/2025 11:31

I know it's easy for me to say, but don't give up hope. I was on the offer waiting list after a very lengthy process, but.... I've been offered a role. I'd lost hope in finding meaningful work at all, but things have worked out, finally. I'm rooting for you and hope you get the role you want 🍀

Hi the wait is worth it this I started last week in the North and the induction programme is very structured and so far very organised alot to learn and get my head around but saying that it appears you are given the time to do this Good luck

Divine2025 · 14/11/2025 11:29

Many congratulations 🎊, it gives us all hope. I am also on the ready list , interviewed in August. I must say that this thread has been very helpful in my journey so far including prepping for interviews.

Hi. Out of interest how long is your induction period before you're expected to be inspecting on your own?

Hi. Out of interest how long is your induction period before you're expected to be inspecting on your own?

I started at the End of September. The induction is for 12 weeks with mostly online trainings. In that time you shadow inspections and also processes. You are not expected to complete inspections on your own until after your induction/probation.

Yes, I'm in CIW and same, a broad expectation after 3 months we're ok to go it alone but if we need longer them no issues as probation runs to 6 months.

Hi all,

I had my interview for the children's service inspector position, but unfortunately on this occasion I was unsuccessful.

I am really passionate about this position, and wondering if anyone that is in this position/have been successful at interview could share their feedback with me? I'm not losing hope just yet, as this was my first time round and was really surprised I got to where I did.

Thanks all!
Rosie.

@RozHed
sorry to hear this but you did really well to get as far as you did.
Did you use the STAR method?
Also please don’t lose hope. There is currently some changes taking place and this may lead to further recruitment in the new year

RozHed · 03/12/2025 06:58

Hi there,

Yes I did, I used the STAR method in every question, maybe the candidate talent pool was really strong, so I won’t lose hope just yet. I’ve requested feedback so hopefully this helps when applying for any further positions that may come up. Maybe the examples I used weren’t what they wanted this time round!

thank you for sharing that :) I’ll keep an eye out! 🤞🏻

Hello, I recently had an interview for CQC inspector unfortunately I did not get the job, but was put on an offer ready list. Has this happened to others? What are my chances of being offered a role on the future?

Thanks
