CQC interview

Hello!
I am a usual Mumsnetter, but changed username.

I had an interview with CQC for a inspector role just over two weeks ago, they said they'd be in touch either way by end of last week or beginning of this week. The portal says my application is "in review" and no change since before interview.

How long shall I give it until I follow up, or shall I even follow it up at all? It's a job I've wanted for a while but I'm unsure of what the realistic timescales are with these sorts of organisations!

Thanks

I would wait until you get the offer then speak to the HR buddy allocated to you. The CQC is generally slow but don’t give up hope. I was going mad with all the wait but thankfully it paid off

Hey all! Just wandered for those of you who have been successful and started the job, how have you found the role? I noticed there are a few similar roles going with CQC and wanted some feedback on the role/work life balance! Thanks so much

Honestly it’s the best place for work life balance as I have found out. They really take staff well being seriously! I have no negatives regarding this at all. 😊@Babyboy2019

Hi, I am also in the same position. I had my interview 2 weeks ago, so I am aware there could still be a few weeks to wait. I applied for an inspector role in secondary care- and it went pretty well. On reflection, I feel adult social care Is more appropriate to my safeguaridng experience. Do you think its reasonable for me to email them to ask to be considered for a role in that area also- just to broaden my opportunities as I don't think there are any immediate vacancies in my area in secondary care.

Thanks :)

I hope it’s ok to jump on this post. I applied for the role of inspector and I’ve just checked the jobs portal and it states closed. The application deadline has also now been extended.
I have no idea why I’ve not even been considered for an interview as I feel I have all the relevant experience.
Just wandering if anyone has any tips?

Hi I've just been shortlisted to the next round for a cqc Inspector, I was wondering if anyone that has been through the written stage can give me the heads up on what they'll ask. First time on here

PumpkinSpiceSeason · 13/01/2025 21:47

Did you save the campaign text? It would have said the grade eg heo and what behaviours they are assessing against eg seeing the big picture or delivering a quality service.

It will have been taken down now but sometimes you can still find it in aggregate searches by googling the role.

We all have similar behaviours but they will vary across grades so make sure you check the right level.

Hi all. Just reopening this. Happy new year! i have just done the 1st round-the paper task and awaiting next steps. i just wondered more about the work life balance side of things again- how many inspections are assigned to you monthly? How much is online?

ChirpySquid · 14/01/2025 23:54

Hi, hope it's okay me jumping on. I applied in November for the role of Inspector and also received an email yesterday informing me that I was through to the next stage of written assessment. I am still awaiting for the Assessment to be sent through. Any advice or tips would be much appreciate.

Good luck to you all 😊

MyCraftyCat · 15/01/2025 08:14

I wonder why everything is so slow but i guess it's the civil service! Which area of England did you apply for?
Thanks and good luck!

ChirpySquid · 15/01/2025 09:07

The closing date was 1st December I'm pretty sure so I had just assumed I had been unsuccessful tbh. I have applied for the South Region (Adult Social Care). How about yourself ?

MyCraftyCat · 15/01/2025 16:18

London and South. Seems very different the timelines by different regions. Good luck with it all, lets keep each other in the loop !

ChirpySquid · 15/01/2025 17:19

Yes definitely, will keep you all updated and would be lovely to hear back from you!
Still haven't received the assessments either. It did say on the email that these should be sent over via email by 4pm on the 16th January so just keeping an eye out.

They did ,to be fair, send it at that time they said they would so hold hope! i wonder if they wait till they have anough applications then batch it to be efficient. still not a great user experience though ( glad this is anonymous as do want the dream job!) haha

Hmm well my email said that 20th Jan is the deadline for the written assessments and then depending on how long it takes for them to be reviewed. I'm wondering when interviews would take place. Just reading the previous threads seems like the process is generally quite slow so won't be surprised if interviews aren't for a little while yet.

Hello, firstly congrats on being short listed for the written assessments. Secondly, which sector have you applied for (Adult Social Care), (Primary Care), (Secondary Care) etc. The reason I ask is because I assume the written assessments would be slightly different for each sector.

Mmoyo · 17/01/2025 22:11

Thank you for your response. Appreciated. So mine is Local Authority Assessment.

I've applied for Adult Social Care so my written assessment may be different to yours, however, I think the important thing I would advise is to try not to over complicate it.

It says in the Candidate Brief "All the information required to complete the exercise is contained in this brief and whilst you do not need to have prior knowledge of CQC policies and procedures you may wish to view the Inspection Handbook".
I would definitely have a look at the Handbook as I found it helpful.
Take as much time as you need to make sure you have read through all the information provided clearly, make notes of important information if you need to, this helped me.

Keep us updated and Good Luck! 😊

Thank you very much. I really appreciate your help. I actually thought itt was Adult Services at the time of applying . When i looked up a pilot program was carried out in July 2023 i believe this is newer i will still give it a go but if an area i prefer comes will apply too. Thank you for all the help definitely will check the handbook. How was your next stage interview following this?

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, I've submitted my written assessment and awaiting next steps now. Waiting to hear back as to whether they want to invite me to interview or not 😬 fingers crossed ! X

Wow I am impressed well done you. Are you also invited for Local Authority Assessment? Any tips on how you did your written assessment does it help to print it out. Good luck .

Thank you! I applied for Adult Social Care, I believe this is different to Local Authority Assessment.

I have 2 laptops so I had the information on one laptop and then the actual written assessments on the other laptop to make sure I had the information readily available.
You could also print it out, that sounds helpful too! Good luck ! 😊
