CQC interview

Ainsleysbbqbible · 29/02/2024 17:31

Hello!
I am a usual Mumsnetter, but changed username.

I had an interview with CQC for a inspector role just over two weeks ago, they said they'd be in touch either way by end of last week or beginning of this week. The portal says my application is "in review" and no change since before interview.

How long shall I give it until I follow up, or shall I even follow it up at all? It's a job I've wanted for a while but I'm unsure of what the realistic timescales are with these sorts of organisations!

Thanks

They can't release results until all interviews are done, scored and checked. If someone has rescheduled for a good reason, it can delay results for everyone. Give it a few more days.

Ahh I see, that makes sense, thank you. I'll leave it a few more days in that case.

With ours the moderators can take another 48 hours to push the button even when our scores are ready (and correct)

If you want to be in CS, you'll get used to slow processes!

Hi, just jumping on your thread, how long did you wait to find out? I’m in the same position now, interviewed 2.5 weeks ago and heard nothing, portal says in review. Thanks

Ainsleysbbqbible · 19/05/2024 11:59

5 weeks from start to finish.. I did get the job in the end 😀 good luck!

Sorry to jump on your thread, is that 5 weeks from when you interviewed or when you applied? I interviewed a week ago and still waiting on results?
thank you

imworkinglate · 27/05/2024 17:47

I've also been successful for an inspector role- to give. A sense of timeline.
I interviewed in march, heard in April. Only just received the contract for a September start

Wumsy91 · 27/05/2024 21:05

Wow 😮 what are you meant to be doing work wise from now until September? Is it a fixed term contract one or permanent? Mine was a two years fixed term contract although one of the interviewer did say it could become permanent x

imworkinglate · 27/05/2024 21:41

Mine is also a 2yr fixed contract.

Luckily I have a job and didn't hand my notice in when I (finally) heard I was successful in the role.

Wumsy91 · 28/05/2024 08:57

Oh that’s good 😊 thank you for sharing your experience with me. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. Thanks a lot and good luck with the job when you start! X

I also start this month if anyone is wondering, but I'm in a slightly different department to inspections. I'm part of a statutory unit..
Inspections are slightly different as they have cohorts of inductions, and roll them out periodically throughout the year, hence the long wait to start.

Thank you for your reply. Congratulations on getting the job. I still haven’t heard anything from them. I had my interview 20th of May. I’m starting to give up to be honest. I tried emailing the team that did my interview and HR for feedback but didn’t get any reply off them. I’m guessing it’s just a waiting game or maybe getting “ghosted” x

No probs and thank you!

Don't lose hope just yet, their HR processes are lonnng. Even one of the CQC staff members who were part of my recruitment said it is like pulling teeth in the early stages. Have you checked the portal online to track the status? Mine still says in review despite having a formal offer and start date, so don't always take that tracker as gospel either. The process after the job offer was fairly straightforward though, and they kept in contact throughout. Part of the issue is that it's similar to civil service recruitment, using the same recruitment policies and systems.

As I say, it was easily 5-6 weeks from interview for me to hear anything. You've still got a few weeks 😊 wishing you luck.

Oh and I emailed them too, never had a reply. Try ringing their recruitment line, that helped me a bit, they told me where the process was at (whether it was true or not, I don't know!)

thank you so much. I keep checking the portal and it still says “in review” other roles I applied for which we’re unsuccessful says “closed” so I’m hoping “in review” is a good thing lol. I’ll give the recruitment line a shot today.
I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. Thank you again and best of luck in the new role. I’ll give an update if I ever get one lol xx

Pamcakey · 11/06/2024 09:29

I applied for a CQC job and I think it took 3-4 weeks to let me know!
I didn’t get the job but was placed on the reserve list. I was contacted twice about roles following this (first one I declined as it was a contract not permanent and by the time they offered me a permanent, I was settled in a new role).

They took ages, even by public sector timescales.

Wumsy91 · 21/06/2024 00:19

Hi guys,
I hope you are all well. I have finally heard back from cqc this week! And I got the job!
i got an email this afternoon to say I had passed the interview. So timeline wise just in case anyone else needs it, today makes it exactly a month after interview that I found out.
I had no luck with emailing recruitment team but I was able to get through on the phone line twice and was told they were still in interview. I hope this helps anyone else.
thank you to the ladies that replied me with your experience. Take Care xx

Congratulations! 😁. Really pleased for you!
I'm in my second week now, going pretty well. A few technical glitches... Haha!

Thank you! Oh that’s really good….glad it’s going well. Tech glitches are bound to happen especially when one is working from home lol
I have had the official email from recruitment to verify my right to work but not had anything from HR. It doesn’t look like I’ll be starting soon with their slow processes 😞
did you get any training? Were they all online or did you had to go physically?
I hope I get a contract and start date soon cos I’m desperate for work! We so stretched with money! xx

Ainsleysbbqbible · 10/07/2024 15:32

Usually after the ID checks it's quite quick... Fingers crossed for you!
All my training is online! Apart from a couple of face to face ones in London.
Have you got a dedicated onboarding person whose setting you up? Xx

Good to know online training mostly as I’m hoping if any will be face to face, it falls during school holidays. thank you for holding my hand through it all! I hope you are enjoying it xx

Glad you've got sorted with the onboarding chap. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it'll be plain sailing for you, I'm sure it will be fairly quick. If you're an inspector, you might have most of your induction throughout August, September and October, as they have groups of new recruits, and do the induction in a block. Don't worry if you miss sessions though or start part way through, as I started part way through mine and they just rearrange or tag you onto another group for the sessions you've missed.

You're welcome - glad to have helped a bit. Hope you settle in well, and if you need anything else just give us a shout! xx

Hi, I am also in the same position. I had my interview 2 weeks ago, so I am aware there could still be a few weeks to wait. I applied for an inspector role in secondary care- and it went pretty well. On reflection, I feel adult social care Is more appropriate to my safeguaridng experience. Do you think its reasonable for me to email them to ask to be considered for a role in that area also- just to broaden my opportunities as I don't think there are any immediate vacancies in my area in secondary care.

Thanks :)

Babyboy2019 · 22/09/2024 08:43

Hey all! Just wandered for those of you who have been successful and started the job, how have you found the role? I noticed there are a few similar roles going with CQC and wanted some feedback on the role/work life balance! Thanks so much
