CQC interview

Ainsleysbbqbible · 29/02/2024 17:31

Hello!
I am a usual Mumsnetter, but changed username.

I had an interview with CQC for a inspector role just over two weeks ago, they said they'd be in touch either way by end of last week or beginning of this week. The portal says my application is "in review" and no change since before interview.

How long shall I give it until I follow up, or shall I even follow it up at all? It's a job I've wanted for a while but I'm unsure of what the realistic timescales are with these sorts of organisations!

Thanks

Prepare examples of different situations you came across in your professional experience, good and bad and how you handled it. Use STAR to answer questions.
Assign several skills and job description items to each example, so you can "mentally find" the example that fits the answer best.
Ask for them to repeat the questions and take a minute or two to think about it.
What they said in the interview guidance, is exactly how is going to happen.
Fingers crossed, let us know how it goes!

@Rachandmickey Good luck for your interview! I found this advice quite helpful and have been using it to prepare for my interview on Friday.

Which region have you applied for?
I have also applied for Adult Social Care but for South Region.

I had my interview for ASC inspector last week. Was told they couldn't give me any indication of when I would be told the outcome and it is down to HR. Not confident, I struggled with brain blocks during the interview and went off on tangents! A friend waited 2 months from interview before he had a call to offer him the job! He'd given up hope!

wow 2 months 😳

which region have you applied for?
It seems depending on the sector or region you have applied for some ppl are hearing back sooner than others.

@MyCraftyCat heard back after 24 hours.

North. I hope they put me out of my misery earlier than 2 months!!

They have readvertised for ASC North Inspector vacancies. It may be that they decide to let you know once all sifting, written assessments and interviews have taken place.

Don't lose hope!! I hope you get some good news soon 🤞🏻

Best of luck to you! Would anyone be interested in joining a zoom call with us all in if and when we are successful? A little support network outside of our areas?

Love this idea, I'm in :)

Hi everyone. Recently got offered an inspector role, does anyone know what the shift patterns are like? Still waiting for a response about this. Just looking into childcare. :)

Congrats. What area and what are you inspecting. I can only tell you what a friend told me and that is you can work flexibly apart from when on inspection. Some inspections go in to the evening depending on the setting. The ads so say that part time and flexible working can be considered.

Thank you for the message. I've tried various scenarios with the Star method, so fingers crossed. My application is for ASC inspector South region. Good luck on Friday 🙏🏽

How did you get on??x

Rachandmickey · 19/02/2025 16:32

Hi, it was tough to start but i warmed up. The Star technique is definitely the one to prepare. The interviewers were supportive, despite my nerves. Good luck x

Did they give you a timeframe of when they would let you know by?

Rachandmickey · 19/02/2025 17:30

No, they said they had to discuss, then the recruitment team would be in touch. Hopefully not too long 🙏🏽.

MyCraftyCat · 19/02/2025 20:09

Definitely STAR works well. Have some good questions prepared and take your time. I asked for the question to be repeated a few times and it was all chill. Best of luck!!

Babyboy2019 · 21/02/2025 14:31

Received congrats letter for assessment and interview (will find out more in 4 weeks re conditional offer) email for the second time today. Anyone else? X

ThatPinkRaven · 21/02/2025 16:33

Thought I’d jump on after following for a few weeks. I had an interview for adult social care inspector south last Wednesday. I heard today I had a conditional offer and the directors have allocated me to a team ( I think I’m in an area they are prioritising) so I’m really hoping it’s not a long wait! fingers crossed for those of you who are waiting to hear back to.

Babyboy2019 · 24/02/2025 11:13

Hey - had the same response today. Did they say how long it would take/what references they need? Just trying to work out timings!

ChirpySquid · 24/02/2025 15:19

It went okay I had lots of STAR examples prepared which was good but they asked me a couple of questions which I found myself a bit stuck on and struggling to expand on, felt like they wanted a bit more from me.
The interview panel were lovely and did make me feel comfortable and relaxed.

They didn't give an indication on when I should expect to hear back, they said they would send my scores to HR and I will have to wait to hear from them. Will keep you updated x

congratulations! The recruitment person I spoke to said once I had had my RTW authorised I would then be allocated to someone within the onboarding team. I’m sure she said they have inspector inductions that start ( I think) the first Monday of every month with the exception of April and August. I’m hoping I’ll hear soon as I have quite a long notice period and need to try and time it right.

I’m sure you did better than you thought! I left feeling like they were asking me more questions because I wasn’t expanding enough, I think perhaps they ask more questions to try and get the best out of us. I found the interview quite tricky because they didn’t ask me any of the questions I thought they would!

Hi all, I hope you don't mind me jumping on this. I'm just in process of applying for this role (initial stage so way to go!) but would love any hints or tips.

ChirpySquid · 27/02/2025 18:38

I had a congrats email this evening. It says they'll be in touch within 4 weeks if they can make a conditional offer

Thank you! Whereabouts are you in the process?

Also does anyone know the guarantee of a conditional offer after a successful interview? It just feels quite bitter sweet bc it's one step closer but still not a formal offer yet
