Looking for people from the previous thread that closed as must of been full?

OP posts:
danblack87 · 02/08/2020 15:34

@DOINGOURBIT please read the thread again, Two of us replied but we seem to have both got your name wrong!!

Gally123 · 02/08/2020 15:50

@Chrissols - sorry to hear you had to be admitted to hospital, never nice even in a non-virus setting, but glad you are okay. Interesting to hear though of your continued gallbladder problems as my niece had her gallbladder out a few years ago, not because of stones but due to a faulty sphincter valve but she has continued to have problems.

As to the other poster @DOINGOURBIT, they don't sound as if they are a medical transcriber as I don't think hospital would employ freelancers due to confidentiality issues; just sounds like someone trying to stir things up, better just ignored.

danblack87 · 02/08/2020 16:20

I agree @Gally123: I think it is a 'fishing episode'. If you are doing so well and have 'employed' people in 'crazy times' that does not sound good to me. Effectively if employed by DICT8 then passing on the work to someone else, which is definitely against the rules, would be a no-no and if they are so great at their job why do they not just work 24 hours a day - I agree, not a medical transcription. Besides all our group posts are work related and non-intimidating which I found this post to be; hence my reply.

DOINGOURBIT · 02/08/2020 17:17

Just wondered why people are sitting at blank screens waiting for something from Dict8, that's all.

I'm not a medical transcriber, i'm a general transcriber which includes medical. I've never worked for Dict8, neither would I intend working for establishments which provide poor rates of pay. Just advising people to use initiative. There's plenty of work about, no need to sit and wait for crumbs.

Chrissols · 02/08/2020 17:40

@DOINGOURBIT I am still intrigued as to what made you look on a Dict8 thread? You say you would never work for them so what was the interest?

OP posts:
Chrissols · 02/08/2020 17:52

@Gally123 I have been having problems ever since but no one was checking my gallbladder as according to records it had been removed. It showed up on an MRCP thank goodness, but could be months till it's sorted......although knowing what it is does help in a way

OP posts:
Lucylizzy123 · 03/08/2020 09:54

Surprised such a busy, high flying individual has time to scrabble around our table of crumbs.

Chrissols · 03/08/2020 10:16

@Lucylizzy123 that's why I asked the question, didn't understand whey @DOINGOUTBIT would be searching for threads on Dict8 without other reason than to belittle people. Don't think they understand, we may have a good old moan on here, but that is no different that being in an office with colleagues. At the end of the day, we all actually like what we do but also like the chit chat on hear so we don't feel so isolated.

Lucylizzy123 · 03/08/2020 10:24

Agree wholeheartedly. We are struggling at the moment but this wont go on forever and there will be abundant tasks for us to type (hopefully) in the future. I have no idea what my fellow transcribers' motives for working for dict8 are. Personally I started when my two daughters went off to Uni at the same time so the exta income was great. Those days were good and I was able to earn a good amount of money. Times have rolled on and the payments have since funded nice holidays, ability to have a few extra nice things and now delightedly I can spoil a new grandchild on the way - one amazing thing to come out of COVID! Ambitious - no, just one of life's plodders I guess but am very happy in that role.

Agree this thread is good for us to vent and moan, and that can only be good in bad times I think.

danblack87 · 03/08/2020 10:44

I agree wholeheartedly with all the comments from our regular colleagues. An outsider with comments such as they were are not really welcome here. We understand what we are about and we each have our own reasons for doing what we do ... being a high-flier is fine if that is what you want from life and it is great to have ambition, drive and determination (BUT high-flying comes at a cost to family time and life). Most of us I should imagine have already done that or, if not, it is not what they choose to do. Anybody can be an all round general transcriptionist not everybody can be a medical transcriptionist.

danblack87 · 03/08/2020 10:55

@Lucylizzie123: Good news about your expected grandchild Grin. I have one and I adore every moment with her. Brightens the week - I don't mind taking time away from the blank screen to spend time with my daughter and grandchild - highlight of my day(s), especially during COVID Smile.

flutterby18 · 03/08/2020 10:59

I agree with everyone. I have only been doing this for 5 years part time. I took early retirement in April from the NHS (possibly at the worst time as it turned out with the COVID pandemic). I love what I do. It gives me the flexibility to work from home and earn some money. Yes, I do have a moan about the current situation but I, like others expect it to pick up soon. I am earning what I need (even at the moment, even though it is taking a little bit longer), but I still enjoy working from home and being self-employed. It can only get better hopefully. I have worked in the NHS for 30 years and now it is my time to relax a little bit, and I certainly don't appreciate people coming on here and saying we are scrabbling for crumbs!! I'm certainly making a living from it. Good luck everyone and take no notice of negativity Smile

Hi, I'm just placemarking on this thread. I type for dict8 but haven't really had the opportunity to log in since schools closed down (I have a 6 and 10 year old at home).

I'm really sorry to hear some of you are struggling to do 250 lines a day Shock . I usually do bits throughout the week whilst the DC are at school, just to earn some fun money, but since we're not going out anywhere at the moment it's not essential.

They did send me an email recently saying they expected work to pick up imminently - so fingers crossed for all of you.

danblack87 · 03/08/2020 11:35

@Cupidity: What are 'DC' - I have seen it so many times but I don't actually know what it means (I am a bit Derrrrr there!). I don't recall an e-mail about work picking up 'imminently' - I must have missed it LOL. Work is not so good today but has been reasonable for the last week or so. How is everyone else doing with tasks today?

Chrissols · 03/08/2020 12:00

@danblack87 I wonder about DC too so decided on 'darling children' lol. Very slow for me today, four short tasks - am hoping for a good week having missed last week, but not optimistic on that front

OP posts:
Lucylizzy123 · 03/08/2020 12:05

Slow here too

Gally123 · 03/08/2020 12:34

@danblack87 - think DC is 'Dear Child'. I don't remember seeing a recent email either.

I had a good week last week, but this morning is dismal.

Cupidity · 03/08/2020 13:14

Yes DC is darling child(ren).

DH is darling husband.

alikat55 · 03/08/2020 14:49

Another hopeless day - only 2 short tasks since 8.30am. I really hope things pick up soon or I can get one more specialty to type. I've still not managed to return to bank work at the hospital as face to face clinics are not really taking place yet. Need to think positive - hoping for a good week.

danblack87 · 04/08/2020 08:47

Fingers crossed for tasks today - I took yesterday afternoon off!!

Chrissols · 04/08/2020 09:43

Not looking good......not seen anything yet

OP posts:
danblack87 · 04/08/2020 10:13

Same here - typed 3 since 7.30 am so far.

Chrissols · 04/08/2020 11:48

I've just received my cheque.......very quick this month 🤩🤩🤩

OP posts:
danblack87 · 04/08/2020 12:00

I only sent my cheque off this morning.

alikat55 · 04/08/2020 13:05

Had one short task since 07.30am! What's going on! Don't think I can sit here this afternoon looking at a blank screen - cleaning the bathroom sounds more attractive- NOT.
