Just typed a four liner. Wow, just earned about 50p.

Happy days.

Poppy379 · 28/07/2020 10:37

I've only managed a single short task so far from a block of about 15 jobs that I saw come up. That was early in the day and I haven't seen anything since. Just wondering whether to throw in the towel and do something productive around the house, but reluctant to move in case I miss a sudden influx of work. It's enough to drive you mad!!

Lucylizzy123 · 28/07/2020 10:39

FOMO. I think we are all suffering from this

Meha5 · 28/07/2020 11:13

Found you all :)

danblack87 · 28/07/2020 11:16

Hello @meha 5: Welcome back Smile

Meha5 · 28/07/2020 11:29

Thank you @danblack87 - so glad I found @Chrissols link. I don't really join in on forums but this thread has been a lifeline not just in COVID but also with the issues discussed about the job !!

Hope everyone is well

Gally123 · 28/07/2020 11:35

@Meha5 - know what you mean about this thread during the COVID situation, it has been reassuring to know that the lack of work is general and not down to individual or technical problems.

After a reasonable start, my morning has now been one of seeing a solitary task but then have it disappearing before my eyes as I click on it. Not had this happen quite so consistently for a while.

danblack87 · 28/07/2020 11:49

Nothing since my l last post so I think I am ready to give up the ghost now ... I'll try again about 2pm but then I am off out at 5pm for dinner with my brother and wife muchos Wine !!!

Chrissols · 28/07/2020 11:53

I was due a hospital appoint before the pandemic which was put on hold. Today I have received two appointments for two different clinics in face to face appointments......this can only be a good sign 😊

Chrissols · 29/07/2020 11:29

Yes, nothing for me either. Seems to have gone from bad to worse

Lucylizzy123 · 30/07/2020 10:24

Another day, another blank screen.

Have seen nothing today so far by 10.25 am.

Is anybody else experiencing the same?

danblack87 · 30/07/2020 11:21

Wonder why people bother with this - it's the bottom of the pile.

I'm a transcriber sourcing my own work. I have worked 16 hour days since March. I've employed people in crazy times and have never been busier. Makes me wonder why anyone wants to sit there trying to pick crumbs from plates. Get out there, pitch to companies, set up as a freelancer and set your own agenda.

Snakes23 · 02/08/2020 14:37

@DOINGOURBIT

This is one of the most significant comments I have read on here; I needed to hear something like this. Dict8 know that many people are out here clicking and clicking, just to get some measly morsels; I'm guilty of that too. And they are assured that people are going to stay around and hope things get better. Of course, you know all this. Anyway, thanks for the slap back to reality.

danblack87 · 02/08/2020 14:50

Thanks for your comments @DOINGGORBIT. The sentiments are realistic; however, I have been out there freelancing in the past and had a very good income with working privately from home. However, I am slowing down now as retirement approaches so the whole Dict8 transcribing suits me; yes, it is a difficult time right now and I was receiving good income from Dict8 previously. I have given up working 16-20 hours a day (for approximately 15 years). A good solid 7-8 hours a day works for me + I don't have all the administration and organising and telephone calls that I used to have. I don't know about the rest of the group, they may be a lot younger, they may have young children at home and family commitments for which Dict8 was the ideal situation at the time. It all depends on the persons (limits, capabilities and time available believe. I personally just prefer to work from home (I know longer want my mobile ringing when I am out and about, or Christmas eve or even New year's day as happened in the past - to old for all that Smile.

Chrissols · 02/08/2020 14:57

@DOINGGORBIT I am just intrigued as to why you picked up on a DICT8 thread?

OP posts:
danblack87 · 02/08/2020 15:03

@Chrissols: Are you okay following your hospital visit? Flowers

danblack87 · 02/08/2020 15:05

@Chrissols: I am intrigued too, for someone who is doing so well working 16 hours a day in their freelance work why would they need to pick up on the Dict8 thread?? I was just going to ask @DOINGGORBIT the same thing . Very strange.

Chrissols · 02/08/2020 15:06

@danblack yes thank you. I had my gallbladder out a couple of years back and have been having problems ever since. Had a really bad 'do' the other day so was taken in for tests. Turns out they left some of my gallbladder in with some of the stones still in situ, now waiting to hear from the specialist team as to whether it can be removed.....I certainly hope it can...

danblack87 · 02/08/2020 15:16

@Chrissols: I am sorry to hear that. Hope you get on the mend swiftly Daffodil.
