Looking for people from the previous thread that closed as must of been full?

@Gally, I was fortunate with TPro to be given the higher rate so it does work out around the same, or maybe a tad less, but the work is more reliable.....having said that, there is very little today. Viv from WeType told me there rates were quite a bit less than Dict8, but that you knew when you would be working so it was helpful in that part

Chrissols · 07/01/2021 15:06

@Gally123 I have just worked out my Tpro rate and it is exactly the same as Dict8. WeType were very open in saying their rate was quite a bit less than Dict8, but that you knew when you would be working and for how long, so during that time it is a steady flow of work which when taking into account the long breaks waiting in Dict8 will probably not work out any less.

Gally123 · 07/01/2021 15:45

@Chrissols but for anyone thinking of applying to Tpro they need to know that they will be paid on the new rate; the rate you get no longer exists.

Chrissols · 07/01/2021 15:51

@Gally123 ahh, I see what you mean, yes that is a very good point as I do not think I would have applied for a lesser rate, albeit when there is so little work around who knows.

I remember a year or two ago one company I applied to had a box asking your expected fee per minute of audio. You could choose anywhere between zero to 99p. After putting in my application they came back advising me to reduce my expected rate down to 45 or 50p per audio minute as unless I did, I would be extremely unlikely to be allocated work. To which I wondered why they didn't just offer a flat rate in the first place? But I suppose if there isn't a flat rate, any person who is prepared to come in at a cutthroat price gets all the work, and everyone else who wants to be paid sensibly is pushed down in the pecking order. I didn't try them out in the end because they wanted a weekly timetable of availability in advance, which I felt a bit uneasy about.

Gally123 · 07/01/2021 16:48

@Poppy379 - was that Accuro as it sounds similar? I applied and was asked what rate I wanted. Like you I did not like having to give notice of when I was available a week in advance as there seemed no allowance for illness or problems such as loss of internet connection, and I did not proceed. Also it needed a different foot pedal for their system and they offered one at a "special" price and I discovered that Amazon was much cheaper and that decided the issue.

Another company I applied and did not take any further sent me a legal typing test to be set out as a court appearance and they were surprised when I pointed out I had expected a medical typing test when applying for medical work. Wish I could remember who they were so I do not apply to them again!

Chrissols · 07/01/2021 17:11

I have no intention in applying to anyone else, it is too stressful 🙄🙄 I work for three companies now so hopefully it should be enough to earn a decent amount, things were really busy with all three companies up to Christmas, so much so I actually had a choice..... and at one point asked one company to stop sending work......so I am sure it will all pick up again at some point in the not too distant future.

Chrissols · 07/01/2021 17:27

Even though in the meantime I may have a good old moan.......

OP posts:
Poppy379 · 07/01/2021 17:43

@Gally123 Yes I'm sure it must've been Addeco - I've just checked their website and they're still doing it! I don't know what to say about being sent a legal transcription as a test - how daft! It's a minefield isn't it? I do find it exasperating that so many of the transcription companies are very up front on their websites about how much the dictation will cost the client, but there's next to never any information for prospective typists on how much they are likely to be paid.

flutterby18 · 07/01/2021 22:04

Happy New Year everyone. I have to agree, work is very slow at the moment and I seem to be spending an awful long time at the computer. I also think we should be given an update from Dict8.

I also applied to Accuro and had exactly the same conversation regarding lowering my rate of pay.

On another note, we are only 89 more comments away from this thread being full (1000 comments) and just wondered if anyone was prepared to start a new one when required - I don't want to lose my lifeline Smile.

Chrissols · 08/01/2021 08:59

@flutterby18 I was thinking exactly the same thing, we need to be thinking about a new thread so it all goes smoothly this time

One task so far today.......

OP posts:
Chrissols · 08/01/2021 14:14

@Gally123 do you still have backlog in your TPro, mine is absolutely empty today, the last one I typed mentioned closing clinics until after the lock-down so looks like it's going to be a quiet time on TPro also

OP posts:
Gally123 · 08/01/2021 14:28

@Chrissols - there are a few letters, however the backlog they matched me with were laboratory reports - so technical!!! Even with the handout I do not know where to start, plus the ones I have looked have no GP on the system, so that needs to be added (as GP name is dictated) and I have no idea how to do that....so while there are letters I am not able to type any other than a few clinic ones. DICT8 very quiet today.

Chrissols · 08/01/2021 14:34

@Gally123 my dict8 has been non-existent today. I have been told with TPro to just type 'letter to GP' if there is no GP on the system and then just address as 'Dear Dr.'

OP posts:
Chrissols · 08/01/2021 14:43

@Gally123 I am bemused as to why Dict8 is so quiet, clinics have been running remotely for weeks as Attend Anywhere and I am assuming these will just carry on as they have been doing?

OP posts:
Gally123 · 08/01/2021 14:48

@Chrissols - still post Christmas lull possibly? Doctors on leave or off sick or drafted in to work on COVID wards?

I think clinics will scale back again a bit as some had been face to face but that will presumably stop again.

danblack87 · 08/01/2021 15:20

I have earnt £20 today on Dict8 which is sort of about usual . Anywhere at the moment between £15 and £25/day Sad

danblack87 · 08/01/2021 15:47

Should have said about usual since this time last year!! Obviously was better pre- Christmas (September 2019). I would like to receive an update especially now the whole of England is in lock-down. Some sort of idea how the work flow through NHS is preliminarily projected . Anyone working within the NHS may have an insight. Perhaps they might share any info re. closing of clinics, down times, closures, etc. ??? Smile.

Chrissols · 08/01/2021 17:11

I need to earn at least £50 per day, hence working for three....would much rather have the possibility of earning that with just one company, but apart from Christmas time it hasn't been like that for a long while

Hi, I work in a GP surgery on the bank reception side so have had plenty of work there. We have so far done three Covid vaccine clinics which are exhausting and take out a whole day from the week so the knock on effect for referrals to hospital etc. will be quite considerable, we have also stopped doing lots of routine review work. I was home today and there was actually quite a bit of typing for me. If anyone wants to work outside home I think many GP practices are looking for extra admin staff to help with the Covid vaccine administration so worth asking if you are interested. In the meantime I need more layers of clothes for next Wednesday, I was frozen last week standing at the door!

danblack87 · 09/01/2021 09:34

£50/day is actually my true target - but that hasn't been the case for a long, long time.

Gally123 · 09/01/2021 11:14

@deewu - thanks for the suggestion, I would offer to help if it was summer or the weather was better but having been diagnosed with osteoporosis recently I go out as little as possible as I am wary of walking on icy pavements and crossing busy roads, despite have 2 GP surgeries (in opposite directions) about 10-15 mins walking distance.

Meha5 · 09/01/2021 12:20

Hi all, hope everyone is keeping well - anyone else slightly amused at Boris trying to pronounce the two drugs on TV this week 🤣🤣 made me feel intelligent for a second !! Bit slow for me too this week and expecting it to get slower as they seem to be putting all the effort into getting this vaccine out.

I expect my house could be seen from outer space it's that sparkly with the amount of overcleaning I've done due to boredom😂😂😂

Chrissols · 09/01/2021 13:08

Sounds like it could be quiet for a good while, but a little is better than none. @deewu I wish the surgeries here were taking on extra admin, but sadly not, I have already enquired.
