@Chrissols - they sent me two test files which I hope are representative of their work as the sound was very clear and the dictators (one male, one female) were good, although the man was a little fast at times and I would have liked to have slowed him down a bit having to type with no foot pedal. I managed to hear both no problem without having to download Express scribe, (but my foot pedal did not work). So I downloaded Express scribe yesterday and tried again and one worked but I could not get the second one to work with the foot pedal. Having to type the dictations using stop/start method and switching from the soundbite to Word document and back again on the test took ages so obviously not a method I would want to use permanently, hence my enquiry as to how Express scribe works. When she sent the tests through the woman did say that it would only work with one and I would have to uninstall etc but I am unsure how this would work normally and she sidestepped the issue when I spoke to her on the phone last week. Apparently they do not have an IT department can offer no/little help; it is up to me to sort it if I want to work for them. However, as DICT8 is getting worse and WeType are offering me work in my preferred specialty - I took on extra specialties when DICT8 asked me to and now I get very little in my preferred ones - and T-Pro decreased their pay scale, I would like to give it a go, IF I can get it to work.

Chrissols · 03/01/2021 12:22

@Gally123, yes I agree they do seem clear, and apparently you get to keep the same consultants so it will become very easy I would imagine. I am fortunate as I did get the higher rate for Tpro, although I am still not keen on the work given, all specialties I have no idea about, so that coupled with the accents is taking me twice as long. To be honest, I don't think I will be staying on with Tpro. I will see what Wetype say this week, but Dict8 is still my favourite by far.

@Chrissols - I am just concerned about my foot pedal not working. I don't mind T-Pro in that their tasks are good sound quality but I find it fiddly sometimes and time consuming having to add (or delete) extra spaces at the end of each sentence and also there are a couple of doctors who dictate the whole of the GP's and the patient's address and then I have to google the spelling, so sometimes the low rate works out poor, but better than nothing when DICT8 draws a blank but if this new company works out it will be fine, as long as the system works...

Chrissols · 03/01/2021 14:50

@Gally123 I agree Tpro is unbelievably fiddly, the VR is a real pain, I would much rather type from scratch and it would be so much quicker. I have actually done 40 today for Tpro which is the most I have ever done for them......probably wont do another 40 for the entire rest of the month🤣 🤣🤣🤣

Gally123 · 03/01/2021 15:14

@Chrissols There was nothing on my TPro site yesterday when I checked to do my invoice, nor was there anything on New Year's Eve when I logged in during the afternoon. They had a big push to try and clear everything by the end of the year although I think they mentioned one of the other hospitals had a backlog into November.

Just doing housework today...

Chrissols · 03/01/2021 15:18

@Gally123 still 800 tasks on my Tpro so is probably the one mentioned with back log, usually has around 3000 tasks waiting. I have been tempted to have an easy day, but thought as nothing on Dict8 for days I may as well show willing and do a few Tpro......I really have not done an awful lot for them since starting........

OP posts:
Chrissols · 04/01/2021 11:09

@Gally123 did you manage to get your dictations to work? I notice Tpro have opened up the backlog to everyone so there will be plenty of work on there 😀

OP posts:
Gally123 · 04/01/2021 11:17

@Chrissols - do you mean the typing test dictations? One worked with the foot pedal, the other did not. (But I had sound without Express Scribe). I cannot see how to load or add dictation to Express Scribe hence my question here.

There has been plenty of work on DICT8 this morning, although I did not start until a bit later than usual as I did not think there would be much early on, however it is the usual poor sound, badly dictated stuff....

Just waiting to hear back from WeType as per hours etc, fingers crossed. A new year and a new start, hopefully!

Chrissols · 04/01/2021 11:25

@Gally123 my tests did exactly the same, I just kept having to re-save them from the email onto my desktop and eventually (yesterday) they worked which was some weeks after being sent them. Due to the length of time it took me to return them I am not holding my breath on hearing back from them now as the gaps they wanted filling may have been filled, they said they were only looking for two specialties at present and I only fit one of those.

OP posts:
Gally123 · 04/01/2021 11:31

@Chrissols - it depends I think on whether they have found anyone to fill the gaps in the specialties. For my specialty (I don't think we do the same as you have busy days on DICT8 when I do not etc) she told me there is a vacancy as someone is leaving in January. When I applied just before Christmas they were still advertising for two - but of course could be a different two!

Chrissols · 04/01/2021 11:40

@Gally123 that true about different specialties, my Dict8 is very quiet today, am expecting it to pick up this afternoon hopefully.

Chrissols · 04/01/2021 13:13

@Gally123 just heard from WeType saying they are going through all the applicants this week

OP posts:
Gally123 · 04/01/2021 13:19

@Chrissols - yes I heard back as well - starting next week. Fingers crossed it goes well. Good luck.

Chrissols · 04/01/2021 13:21

Ahh, well done. Looks like I have not been successful then, but very happy for you, hope it goes really well for you 😀

@Gally123 sorry, forgot to tag you into last message, well done 😁

OP posts:
Gally123 · 04/01/2021 14:46

@Chrissols - thanks, but we were probably after different posts, so don't give up yet. I just hope when I work on their system my foot pedal works etc, otherwise it might not be for long.

Chrissols · 05/01/2021 14:01

@Gally123 I still haven't heard so am guessing not, but I'm not too disappointed, seem to have plenty keeping me going at the moment thank goodness, plus I seem to be getting more to grips with Tpro for some reason.....actually enjoying it 🤗

Gally123 · 05/01/2021 14:57

@Chrissols, as you say, as long as you have some work from somewhere. I had a good morning with DICT8 then it has tailed off. There is little on my TPro at the moment, and nothing last night. They mentioned moving people to the hospital with the backlog but it takes time to transfer people across. I just get frustrated with Tpro having to do totally alien specialties like eyes and I struggle with orthopaedics, but I find having a more of a choice than just 5 dictations at any one time better.

Chrissols · 05/01/2021 15:02

@Gally123 yes I agree totally about the specialties being alien, they have given me two hospitals, neither of which have my familiar specialties so it has taken me a long time to settle in to it, nearly gave up on several occasions. I seem to have got to grips the past couple of days though, although Dict8 will always be my 'go to', probably because of the familiarity it provides. I think I work for the hospital with the backlog for Tpro, although it is getting a lot less how, less than 400 which is the lowest I have seen, and steadily decreasing.

OP posts:
Chrissols · 06/01/2021 11:09

Nothing in Dict8 today for me, how is it for everyone else?

OP posts:
Gally123 · 06/01/2021 12:35

@Chrissols I have typed a handful on DICT8 but the system is partially blocked with four tasks by a woman who even on full volume it is a struggle to hear more than a few words. There was nothing on T-Pro so I have now been added to a second hospital with a big back log.

Chrissols · 06/01/2021 12:46

@Gally123 I have had two on dictate, done a few on tpro but the list is now down to less than 200 so cannot be the hospital you have been added to.......the backlog is usually around the 3000 mark so looking a bit grim......

I am in the office today and have had a productive morning with Dict8. I am waiting for a Gas engineer as it is freezing here ... Boiler's packed up - no hot water, no gas central heating and my electric fire in the living room is not working either. I am on 24 hour emergency call so I shall be in 'my office' for the rest of day I suspect (1 oil heater is all I have so that is in this room!!!)

Happy belated New Year to everyone.

Chrissols · 06/01/2021 15:26

@danblack87 Oh my gosh, of all times to be left with no heat, it is the coldest time of the year. My Dict8 has been really quiet today and yesterday, practically non-existent. Have you got a hot water bottle in case it doesn't get fixed today?

OP posts:
Gally123 · 06/01/2021 15:38

@danblack87 - I feel for you - that was my situation two years ago - although my boiler did not get fixed until 31 January, I had to wait over a month. Although I did have hot water (electrically heated). It is not joke, esp when people are enjoying themselves out in the snow and it is freezing in your house. I used to go to the shops just to get warm.
